I haven't picked up my bass in years, literally. A few weeks ago I dug it up and send it to a luthier to get it back in playing condition, after that it sat in its case until a few minutes ago. I plugged it in and search for some Iron Maiden playalongs, which led me to your video. Thank you so much man, I haven't had this much fun in a loooong time (my hand hurts but in really happy)

keep going, try something slower like Flight of Icarus and progressively go faster, playing long songs works for building stamina
@basssoul68743 жыл бұрын
@Vladimir Vulkan 8 32th are played on one beat. Surely some practicing in behind at a speed of 105. Some take it as a Tremolo, means playing as fast as possible keeping the beats in mind putting emphasis on each beat. Be patient with yourself and slow down the speed and speed up after a while. Give it a go!

Playing the whole song "Caught Somewhere in Time" with fingers is the hardest challenge, in my opinion. So fast...

That’s absolutely brilliant!! I nothing about playing bass guitar, but when Steve Harris plays he as a more clicking sound. What does he do different please?
@basssoul68743 жыл бұрын
Hi Ian, mainly because he is plucking the strings quit hard. Surely his sound is unique and is part of this "clicking sound"
@iangrimwood33453 жыл бұрын

He also uses an incredibly low action, lots of compression to level peaks and his own signature flatwound strings. His playing style with his picking hand is a little like John Entwhistle from the Who. He kind of "hammers" through the string with his plucking hand that makes each note bounce off the frets a little like a slap player. Combine this with very low action and flatwound strings is where the "click" comes from. it's the strings "pinging" off thge fretboard every time he plucks a note. It's not a very "correct" technique, but it is how he gets his sound and works for the band.

Hi Sam, Its no surprise, its a quite long song. Keep on going and carry on trying to run through, even though the last Part might not Sound as you wish, you'll become stronger!
@peter102459 ай бұрын
Don´t trust Tabs Guys. Why you hit a Chord on the Bell ? It is just the open E. The Part after 33, 55, 77 seems different too. Do you play it there for convinience to not have to travel up ???
@basssoul68749 ай бұрын
Hi Peter, I am not normally inclined to reply to comments that begin with sweeping statements that are as superfluous as they are unproven. Nevertheless, my comment is that I can never rule out having made a mistake when transcribing the bass track. I assume at least that it is clear anyway that recording an 8 minute song has nothing to do with convenience. I don't see anything wrong with the parts 33 etc. mentioned, Steve often plays identical runs several times. You are right on the "E" Chords, just an open E. I always loved playing it that way so I put it in. You can blame me for that. What an awful mess! Just to mention, this was the first song I uploaded to my channel after opening up. I believed it was worth starting with it so I put quite an effort in it. Anyway, thanks for your feedback
