Bruce, Adrian, Janick, and Dave have all written great songs for Iron Maiden, but Steve is definitely the best songwriter . Steve is the only band member that cannot be replaced because he created the band. Iron Maiden has always been his creation. He has a great eye and ear for great talent and got some of the greatest musicians to join his band. I even love the Paul and Blaze years.

LOL!!! Maiden is extremely good at it, but if you can listen to metal from the 80's-90's and not notice it, you are not doing metal any justice. Metal is the counter-culture to the "barbie world, greed is good" illusion of the 80's-90's. Many see metal as a scene of hopelessness and despair, but it is exactly what slayer once said, "we put it in your face so you notice it and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT". Here is your problem, fix it!! Metal has more hope and desire for the world to be better than most other forms of music, and that's it's real power, to make you THINK.

I came back to rewatch this video months later after seeing a couple of the commentators say they think this was a negative reaction. This was anything but a negative reaction - certainly, it brought out the philosophical side in George and Ryan, and they definitely seemed to appreciate the poetry, skill, musicianship, songwriting, and artistry that went into the song, and found the whole to be beautiful, with the worst they could say about it being that it might be a bit dated, the subject matter not being not being to their taste at the time, and the song being something that might have to grow on them. I didn't realize it until I saw the reaction the first time, but Harris' lyrics, whether the song was contrived that way or not (I suspect not), actually do an excellent job of conveying the false courage and then all of the stages of grief the story's character would go through in the hours before death - you see elements of shock and panic, denial, anger, bargaining/reasoning, and depression in the way the character's words contradict what was said before, before settling on acceptance, before the character's life flashes before his eyes during the solos leading up to the death at the End.... Obviously, this reaction was early in their metal reactions career, and they'd basically reacted to only a limited selection of thrash before this, so I wonder if George and Ryan would be willing to come back and react to this song again some day, now that they've seen a wider range of metal, and have had the new perspective of some time and distance to re-review the song with?

Iron Maiden have been around since 1975. They have 16 studio albums and performed something like 2200 Live shows. and have one of the most loyal fan bases you will ever see. The singer Bruce Dickinson is a Man of many talents and even flies the band around the world in their Iron Maiden branded plane. The bands lyrics vary. older songs are about history and war to name some lyrics.

A friend of mine went to the concert with her boyfriend telling her mom she was at my place babysitting with me. She asked me to cover if her mom called. I am just FREAKING OUT by this reaction!! This was beautiful, and I am a maniac over IRON MAIDEN but I am just blown away by the way you guys went off on such a beautiful path that in the first month of 2021 where most are all so terrified of " Worse Case Scenarios" and living in a fear fuel chaos. This isn't a new post, but it's just a huge deal right now, but it's not easy to get people to listen and live as much in the moment gratefully as possible. We as humans can reflect and have deep conversation about the fact that we don't have any control over the fact that we only have one thing that's a GARANTEE in life, and it is we will Die. Instead it is very hard not to live in fear and be devastated by the death of the people we love and are a part of us. Possibly it's loss, but I think it is because it is not controlable for any human no matter who you are, money you have, walls you build around you and your loved ones we have to move on from this life. I was already a huge fan of yours, but I am so finished after this awesome reaction. It is very terrifying not to know what is going to happen, but I am just so happy to see you two discussing this with all of us. 2021 is a very unsure time for all of this world, and being unsure of the future is a global reality.
