This probably has the "busiest" Iron Maiden album cover. I have the album. Derek Riggs did great job on his artwork for Iron Maiden.

Somewhere in Time is my favorite album. It's a shame you don't hear about it as much as some of the others.

The artwork is what brought me to Maiden. It was strange... I was at the record store and I really wanted something progressive but heavy rock (beyond Rush, Yes, Genesis). I happened to see a copy of "Live After Death", which was their new album at the time. The artwork immediately grabbed me and I could tell by the song titles that this was exactly what I was looking for. I brought it home and was in prog metal heaven. Then, maybe a year later, "Somewhere In Time" came out and blew me away. For me, "Somewhere In Time" and "Powerslave" are my two IM albums. Nice choice for a reaction, thanks!

As an Eight/nine year old I went into a music store with my Birthday money in the summer of '86 I believe it was as my father was in the fishing tackle shop. I stood eyeing all the different albums. I had Eight Irish pounds in my pocket and it was enough to buy a new one as they were all £6.99 for new albums. As I looked at all the different ones, it just jumped out at me, that ominous, scary double album and it was on special offer of £7.99. That album was a double cassette tape of Live After Death and damn tape was played to death! :)

I saw every Iron Maiden show back in those days. It would’ve been great just to hear them on stage playing the music live. But combined with their amazing stage productions, it really was an amazing show.

Obsessed with this album , back in 1986. 36 years ago. Some things never change. Love it. Surely the origins of prog-metal started with this album.......... hang on , the previous album. Rime of the ancient mariner from the Powerslave album.I was still at college. Still love it all now. Fantastic Nick. 😍

This is the last full album that I like by Maiden. Afterward I like only one or two other songs. I was a fan since their beginning, and I remember that I was the only kid who knew who they were at first. I made them popular among my friends, lol. Never got to see them in concert, though 😥

Hi Nick, firstly congratulations on 45K+subs !!! Brilliant and so well deserved. Your music coverage has no boundaries and with you & Lex at the helm really makes this channel that so much more special. Your mention of album covers etc...is soo true. I have even bought albums because I loved the cover....and yes I did judge an album by it's cover in not wanting to play it. A friend gave me a cassette tape of "Queensryche, Operation Mindcrime" The name of the group didn't help. I was just expecting some German Hitler Youth noise grunge rock. I had the tape for a long time before I finally got curious enough to play some....then some more ! Lol Yea, don't judge a book by it's cover ... Lesson learned.....There is a group called "Ghost" and has a demonic looking lead singer called "Papa" dressed like the Pope....It was a friend yet again said you need to hear this group.... The lead singer has a wonderful voice. It's melodic rock and they sound so much like Blue Oyster Cult....You would never guess to look at them....Ok just listening now to Iron Maiden...... Not heard this track..... I can see why you love it so much. Yes definitely more prog sounding. Bruce has a touch of Dio about the vocals on here. Excellent stuff Nick ! Thankyou for sharing. Brilliant video and congrats on the (now) 82k subs!! Near your 100k target! This song is (and I don't use this word lightly but) GENIUS. Honestly, every single note, drum stroke, vocal, bass pluck....you name it, goes towards making such an amazing performance. If you were to sit a hundred scientists down together and ask them to come up with a formula for a song to depict space time & travel, THIS is what they would come up with. I've never ever heard ANY other guitar solo(s) use sound to build a picture/imagery quite so well before. Every single note builds takes you there, takes you on that journey.......makes you feel tension/release/ecstasy/doom....all the things you'd expect to feel hurtling around the timeframes at the speed of light! I'm so lucky that I got to see this as a set opener TWICE in my lifetime. I think this years opener was somehow even more magical. 35 years on and they more than delivered. The whole thing this year was just magical.....Blade Runner......THOSE OPENING CHORDS......The crowd doing the "Oh Oh oh's.....then the stage rush! And believe it or not, Dave & Adrian almost got the solos note for note, just fucking amazing all round. The band were all on fire, but special mention must go to Nicko, no one knew at that time he'd had a stroke..........how he did that, no one will ever know. Legend!!!

Hey Nick, The band that you were talking about earlier in the video was Dragonforce with Herman Li as one of the lead guitarist and yes I even remembered watching them on MTV back when they were still playing videos and I loved them as well!! Congrats to you both on reaching 45 Subs and more to come!! My first "Maiden" album on cassette was Peace Of Mind and my all time favorite track is Revelations believe it or not and I cranked my Walkman up every time that song comes on and my least favorite track is To Tame A Land!! Sorry, But I'm just being honest with you, Bro!! Hope that all's well with you, Lex & Marley and please give Lu some love for me!! Can't wait to hear from you soon!! Thanks & Stay Metal!!, Walter - 🤘🤘🤘🤘❤🙏

Cool Nick been enjoying your content since the beginning pretty much. I hope to get a little marathon together for you to react to someday. It's hard to pick which songs! Speaking of Maiden have you seen the funny video of the Maiden fans hearing Steely Dan for the first time? Its pretty funny! Keep up the great work! BTW Sea of Madness just might be my fav from this album. Very poignant and appropriate even today.

Of all the Iron Maiden shows I've seen their Somewhere on Tour performance in 1986 was my favourite. It was in a 2500 seat theatre, the last time Iron Maiden did a UK tour of that kind, and I was as close to the stage as I've ever been at a concert. I really liked it that Iron Maiden developed in a more progressive direction with this album. I think it's one of their best, and has some of the best guitar playing from Murray and Smith. All three Iron Maiden guitar players were heavily influenced by Ritchie Blackmore, and yet they still managed to develop their own distinct personalities on the instrument.

Really? I mean, the songs are their best and the best in heavy-metal history. In my opinion.But that particular tour, I've seen it online, and Bruce was really struggling, and jaded from touring
@delorangeade
@delorangeade Жыл бұрын
@@Rowlph8888 I saw them early in the tour, so the band was still fresh, but Bruce often struggled to match his studio vocal performances on stage in those early years. In the end though, the experience of seeing the band live at close quarters is very different from watching it online many years later. I was too lost in the moment to worry about the nuances of the performance, and that's the memory I take away from it. I was also at the show that was recorded for the Maiden England video, and that one may have been better from a technical point of view, but for me personally it was less exciting, because I saw it from the back of an arena, not the front row of a theatre.

ok, I've seen the first 8 minutes of talk. My way to Iron Maiden was that I read about them, then saw the LP and bought it; liked it, but not veeery much. Killers was bought by a friend, put on cassette, was a little better. And then - bäämm - Number of the beast blew me away, the music , the new singer, just great. Listened almost daily, often at max volume, so I felt worn out after 6 songs ... you know this feeling with loud music, the adrenalin, but once it's gone, you feel tired. My adrenalin didn't last the whole album 😆 so I discovered Hallowed be thy name a little later. Then came Piece of mind, I liked side 1 very much, but somehow side 2 didn't convince me. The next albums were bought by my older brother and I put them on cassette, but Powerslave and Somewhere in Time I didn't listen to very often, 7th son ... maybe a little more because of the title track, then I completely lost interest. I had seen Maiden in 1981 with Paul DiAnno at a festival; somehow I was not impressed very much, especially since I was waiting to see Kansas. Next time I saw them was in 2005 at a festival, after that 2 or 3 more times, the last time in 2018 I felt like, they get weaker, it's all only a big show .... when I saw a live video this year, I was shocked how old they look after 2 years corona break ... ok now listen to the music By the way, the band you're looking for is Dragonforce, saw them opening for Epica, "nice" music for 30 - 45 minutes ..😂🤘 Maybe the reason why I lost interest, was, that the "ingredient" of the song seemed to be the same : the bass, the singing, the guitars, the drums - just different by composition, but with certain similarities ... I don't know 😕 Sorry for being not more enthusiastic, but as you always say - be honest - and I was. I liked your air guitar, but like better, when you have the guitar in your hands ... so we'll wait for the solos . Good night 🤘

Hola Nick!
