Sébastien Giglio Dio is the greatest of all time. He rocked non-stop until he died. Bruce and Halford are without a doubt right up there, though.

Ronnie James Dio and Bruce Dickinson, two small guys that have a GIANT and powerful voice that comes out of them.

Okay, well, Ronnie is no longer singing here on earth, BUT, you know what I mean.

I was in school when Dio passed, I went to school with one of his relatives. She came into class that morning, and told me he had passed away.

I am thinking that IF he had EVER looked up to Ozzy, he could NOT say it after how Sharon had gotten people to egg Maiden at Ozzfest. I don't think that Ozzy is better than Dio though, and definitely NOT better than Bruce. BUT, Ozzy is very good, just NOT a singer that has a broad range.

I mean, name one metal vocalist that doesn't look up to Dio. Even Ozzy, who fucking hated the guy, knew how talented he was.

I also had the pleasure of seeing Maiden live numerous times and always gave a really good show. Much respect to Bruce from Montreal

I was also blessed this see him live with heaven and hell when they finished of Sweden Rock Festival 2009. I was extremely happy that I got to see him live and at the same time depressed that it was my one and only time.

Yeah i notice that too :D but i can understand that Bruce voice its not someone cup of tea i find him very difficult to listen too when i first listen old Maiden albums he has very difficult voice very shaky that time...i make one cover of Maiden older stuff... it was great experience... first time when my friend big Maiden fan introduce me with Bruce Dickinson i was like fuck this guy is out of tune on the older stuff... and sometimes i feel that he very much straining so i listen him on a 6 take i think and i was fuck this guy now what his doing also that agressive vocal style what he has... when i look on live concerts hes very amazing... big inspiration the energy what he have he barely do some mistake for a untrained singer... :) im glad that i give it chance and listen to him... he has very complicated voice... and im glad that his my big inspiration :) i dont know how he has it in the studio i heard that he has some problems that he must do more takes on some parts... but every singer has it... :)

Coz his vocals are so hard to imitate. He has an operatic style - something between opera and Gillan. Metal singers prefer either screaming (Rob) or just nice and smooth singing (Dio). Gillan is not regarded a prominent vocalist either. He's way greater than either Plant or Freddie, but you never see him topping the list of the best vocalists.

Dio said that once. Essentially, no one. I love RJD, but he certainly had some confidence in himself. Even though he's not metal, Freddie Mercury has to be on every list of great singers.

I think he has a lot of time for Halford, Tate et al but they were around the same era. I heard somewhere he's not a fan of Justin Hawkins of The Darkness. Thinks its all a bit fake but don't quote me on that!

He has lots of respect for him of course, but they both have different singing style: Bruce is more lung power, Rob is more in the throat

It was his lifestyle of smoking and drinking and not continuously training that also ruined his vocals. Glen hughes and Ted Neeley can still hit high notes. I love Ian Gillan he's one of my favorites but that's what it is.

Mercury's timbre is probably the most loved in rock. Kinda partied away his voice at times, but when he was on form... unbelievable.

Diego of Helker is close to Dio and Raphael Mendes is close to Bruce.

Dio was a better live singer than Bruce. I think Dio could really nail the stuff he did in studio live, but i think Bruce struggles a bit live. I really like both of them, but Dio had something special.
