Love the book cover. I myself have a fondness for the Hexagon grid. The meeting of the hexagon lines with the brush stroke / grunge edges was a very nice touch.

Yay, I'm famous! Thank you for demonstrating the answer to my question. Your cover looks great! And the title is perfect. I vote for the third infographic too, but agree with the other commenters - the colour is a bit garish, and two facing pages might be best for that much information. The title is bland too, but other than the bit of tweaking that it needs, I think it's the most suitable for your vision. I look forward to more updates as your book progresses. 👀📚

Fantastic idea to make a book, Rick! Your tutorials have played a huge role in my inkscape abilities! Love the cover - and even more so that you were willing to show us all how you created it, and weaved some tips in there too!! Bummed the spray paint trees and graffiti didn't make it though lol. Congrats on the Fiverr sponsorship! So well deserved. I like the 3rd one best but agree the typeface could be improved - and perhaps change up the color a bit too! If there's any way I can be helpful with editing when you get to that phase, I'd love to lend a hand!

Holy Cow! I was just talking to my husband about how a book of exercises to help learn the aspects of Inkscape would be awesome; and here it is! It's great to have tutorials online, but it would be more advantageous (for me at least) to have a structured workbook of sorts to show some of the techniques used in Inkscape to be put to practical use. Not just "here's how to make this logo" or something like that. Something that people can refer to when they have an idea of their own or like me, wanting to work towards becoming a better artist and venturing out into being a freelancer. I like the last infographic layout, but not the font or colour. Orange is a bit hard on the eyes. I'd go with a softer blue header and stick with more grey tones on the instructions. Also, I'd use the word "action" instead of "objective." Just a quick heads up: I've noticed that users who use Linux such as myself sometimes have different keyboard shortcuts. i.e. using Alt+left mouse for lasso does not work for me (that minimises the window.) I use Ctl+Alt+left mouse to activate the lasso. So it might be worth noting to save people frustration. Looking forward to the finished product! As always, keep up the awesome work!

Wow! Thank you so much. I had the exact same feeling about a book being structured as a workbook. It’s how my mind best absorbs info at least. Ha. Thanks for the vote in the infographic too. I agree it will need some tweaking. Also, I’ll try to keep Linux and Mac users in mind with the documentation so the book is accurate. Thanks again!

Hey Rick, just a quick note to say thank you again. This might sound odd, but I’m a quilter and that’s how I first got onto Inskape, mainly to transfer shapes into a cutting machine. For the new year, I decided to try a new pattern with hexagons. I couldn’t work out how to stagger them so as not to waste fabric. Anyway, I suddenly remembered watching your cover tutorial and thought Ha! So thanks again, that saved me tons of time trying to work it out! Happy new year by the way! Is your book finished yet?

Since you are doing your book as 6x9, I think your shortcuts should be on multiple pages. I think if the first person had used more white space (like 3 pages,) you would have liked it more. I do like the mouse pictures, but I didn't like the ORANGE color on the last one. Overall, I liked the first one because of the buttons and boxes, but it was smooshed. I LOVE the cover of your project, though. That is going to be a FANTASTIC book, just like your videos.

@@IronEchoDesign I will write up what happened and send it over in case anyone else has a similar experience, but I believe I found it. I was going through the process again so I could snip what settings I used. My original I saved as a dxf. This file was disconnected all through the design. During my recreation I forgot to change it from svg. This file was not disconnected. I could then “save as” a dxf with solid lines. Did it direct to dxf again, and once again it was all separated. Thanks again for the offer of assistance!! You rock 😊

Lol, why are all 3 hotkeys sheet versions so messy 😆? The purpose of this cheatsheet is to let the readers find a hotkey, quickly and easily. Keeping this in mind, and strictly IMHO: 1. 8:11 The graphic elements, color choice and all caps serif everywhere make it hard to read. Though I like the landscape orientation and the idea of using a color code. 2. 8:45 This one is better. What I would do: - change the font color of the hotkeys to black or white, for better contrast - change the font of the hotkey description to something less tall and narrow and easier to read - make all hotkeys font size the same (you can make Ctrl, Shift and Alt rectangles the same size, different from other rectangles) - make all hotkey letters either uppercase or lower case (the first page especially) - use a kind of color-coding, for ex., make the Ctrl, Alt, Shift rectangles gray and the ones with F1-F12 white with an orange border - since it's 3 pages, make 3 columns, the one in the middle with the hotkey description, the two on both sides with the hotkey variants. Remove "+" and "," and align the first column by right sides and the last column by left sides I like the header and the background 👍. 3. 9:23 This one is the easiest to read. Though I would: - make all the upper and lowercase uniform, both in the hotkeys and their description (all letters in the hotkeys should have the same case and all first letters in the descriptions should have the same case) - make "Tools", "Objective" (isn't it "Objects"?) and "Canvas" less imposing - change the header, it looks a bit outdated 😝 - use color-coding - remove "+" and replace "," with more space or some other visual separation. I don't know if it was a requirement but I think "+" and "," separating the text are good and valid, but between graphic elements, they are harder to read and not really necessary. BTW, is it Ctrl+U for "Ungroup"? I always used Ctrl+Shift+G *confused*

Hi Rick, how do you get rid of that black square at 5:10
@IronEchoDesign
@IronEchoDesign Жыл бұрын
Great question. The large black shape was used to do Path Intersection on each lower hexagon. Had to do the process 3 times to get each of them. Intersection wipes out both original objects and leaves only the intersected part. So doing the path function itself wiped out the big black box shape. Started with 3 and lost one with each Intersection.
