The reason the monster didn’t kill James’s character and let him go is because he had no regrets for the evil things he had done like killing that old man, and since the monster’s whole thing is if you cannot let go of the past it it will kill you hence the note saying “ if you yourself cannot release, it will come to take a piece”

Yeah the "portrait of god" short is just wonderful as a horror short, it hitted the uncanny valley very well, especially in the dark room part where you can see him far away then you realise its very slowly moving towards you, not making the slight of sound, and remaining blurred enough to keep most details of it hidden.

The light reminded me of the lights the aliens used in _Skyline_ to control humans as they were invading. Very creepy if you can't protect even yourself.

@@somethingsuperbland8829 well and guess what theres a well hidden forshadowing of the creature just blending just perfectly on a dark corner and well with max brightness on your phone you can see it but its still hard to spot, if it werent for its faintly glowing eyes.

The thing she’s seeing really is tied to whatever is at the heart of our universe. She is seeing underneath our reality, and it’s monstrous all the way down.

It's mostly the concept of if their evil, they ain't God! But I do like to have civil talks about such subjects, rare as they are!) but because JRPG's have ruined the concept of an "evil god". My Junior High School did that at the yearly Halloween pep rally. Although, as usual with school "scary" videos, it wasn't very scary. Like, at all. The stuff they *think* that we thought of as "scary" is literally something that only like three or four year olds would be scared of. It's like they still thought of us as kids or something and not the pre-teens we were.

For the piercing thing: All the stress in the anticipation of the piercing releases a high amount of chemicals in the brain that can help lower the pain experienced during the piercing, although it drops soon after the experience and that dramatic change in body chemistry is what is assumed to make you faint. I went to get four in one sitting and piercing 1 didn't hurt AT ALL and after piercing 2 I fainted although I was completely fine and wasn't scared, I got piercings 3 and 4 immediately after I woke up (by then the chemicals had dropped and they hurt but it wasn't terrible) and I had some gummies and a lollipop which seemed to help.
