I discovered Ironsworn just a few weeks ago and i love it to play solo. In my regular RPG group, i'm more the restrained guy at the table. Nevertheless i really enjoy these sessions, but every now and then i just sit there and have no clue what my character would do or say. So Ironsworn helps me a lot between these session to "train" my creativity.

I just recently discovered Ironsworn and stumbled onto your video. First and foremost...thank you! I can say that this game has provided me with an outlet to seek refuge in the world of the Ironlands.....and even better....MY VERSION of the Ironlands. After a difficult day at work, this is a healthy way to escape and enjoy being creative with some dice, coffee, pencil and paper. Its even inspired me to scrapbook and journal about my travels and experiences within the world. Truly a remarkable find during a time I really needed it. Thank you!

Thank you for making this video. I don't have anyone to play D&D with and I was just curious if there was something like that but possible for a solo player. I checked out the Ironsworn website and it looks really cool, but I wanted to hear more about how it all works before reading a 270 page book cover to cover!

Have you seen Me, Myself, and Die channel? I just discovered him and I am completely mind blown how this dude GMs and plays his own RPG adventures. It's better than some netflix shows lol I feel you on solo RPGs. I got into solo board games for this reason.

I love this game. I'd been looking for a tabletop rpg that I could play solo. No worrying about anyone else's schedules or anything. I've been obsessed for about a month now.

First off, I had to pause the video right before you started talking about the game to congratulate you on speaking about the state of anxiety when you think about social situations. That’s very powerful to know its triggers, it gives you a way to observe it and later deconstruct it if you want to. It is also helpful for other people to hear about it and know others are feeling the same way so they can realize it’s okay to feel that way too. I love solo play and I also learn a lot from group play. If you have a hard time finding a group, have you thought of a professional GM or one-on-one play? Once again thank you for sharing! Great video and discussion about how Ironsworn can fit into different players gaming rotation. I too deal with a lot of people in my chosen career and when I'm not working I tend to like to just relax. I just discovered this game in the last couple of days but have been preparing to begin my first adventure so gathering information. I am very curious as to where you find the additional supplement of foes. I've done some google searches for Ironsworm Foes but haven't found much in the way of results like you showed. I did stumble upon a Chartopia for Ironsworn which I'm sure I"ll be utilizing but would love to get my hands on more references to expand my gameplay and world. Thanks!

I don't think I would ever play with a group of strangers (though I did once in high school and it was... ok?) I had a gaming group made up of friends that, although some members did come and go, was a pretty constant group for about 10 years. Although we had stopped playing for some time, I always had hopes of getting back together until my wife and I moved to another city. Once that happened, I figured I would probably never play another TTRPG again, at least until I could convince one of my kids to play. Unfortunately, my older son never really got into it, but my younger one has shown some interest (fingers crossed). I have basically spent my time reading game books, imagining stories and characters, and wishing I could play. I only really heard about solo RPGs very recently, and Ironsworn was one of the first names that came up. I picked up the PDF a few days ago and am still reading it (work and family duties leave me fairly little time). I think it looks great so far. I will probably invest in a print copy, along with the cards and Delve. Another solo game that looks really appealing to me, and which could potentially interest you, is 1,000 Year Old Vampire. I plan to get that, soon, as well. Anyhow, all of this is my introduction as your new subscriber. :) EDIT to add: I posted the above before getting all the way through the video. I am also interested in starting a new YouTUbe channel (despite knowing nothing about how to do so...) and I had thought about potentially using Roll20 but wasn't sure if we were legally able to...If I am understanding you correctly, it is possible?

First, I want to commend you for your intro into this video. Talking about your introversion and more particularly about the anxiety causing that introversion on a public video was kind of a brave thing to do. Second, you talked about Ironsworn as if it was a pioneering game. It really isn't. It's a great game for sure, no doubt and no question. But it's nothing innovative. There are many solo RPGs that came before it. Ironsworn is great, but it's great because it is standing on the shoulders of what came before it and if you listen to Shawn being interviewed he freely admits that. My point is that while Ironsworn is the hype in solo RPGs, it's by no means the only one and if a person finds Ironsworn compelling, there's a whole world of solo RPGs out there to explore. A good place to start after Ironsworn would be Scarlet Heroes for example.
