The following is not so much a review as an opinion piece. An opinion from a fan of the game but feels it's tripping itself up in its own hype.

I just discovered Ironsworn (in a gernan translation) and I also think, that it's stunning! It's true, the rules are a little strange for old gamers ... but the possibillitie 😁s for the narrative stories are huge...

Great vid. I agree with you. Ironsworn is a far more engaging group activity than other established games, with its player-facing mechanics and world creation.

Nope. He nailed it. The difficulty of a quest/vow is reflected in the number of boxes you fill in after completing a related task. The harder the vow, the fewer boxes you fill in. So, say you're hunting a beast that is incredibly hard to track. You make a 'move' to find tracks and actually roll a success. This marks progress on the vow and might allow you to fill in one of the ten boxes to find the beast. Or, since it's a very difficult hunt, you only get to fill in a quarter of a box. Along the way, you may generate distractions or side encounters. If these don't contribute anything meaningful to your hunt vow, completing them may afford you a resource but not progress.

Trouble some is 3 boxes which is technically 3x4 ticks. Epic only gives 1 tick . So it takes 12 harm/progress to get 3 boxes of progress

honestly i cannot undestand how anyone playing DnD can call Ironsworn or any PBTA hard or complicated. Like?? guys?? you are doing so much math every session and roll?? whos complicated here?? btwww both Ironsworn and Blades in The Dark are Powered by The Apocalypse (systems inspired by Apocalypse World), and clocks are a thing from AW
