The time has finally come. We know this is video is going to ruffle some feathers, but this roadster needs to ditch the fenders!! Matt gets to work removing the items that are not needed for our version of an early dry lakes racer. They would have taken a bone stock car they bought off a used car lot, pulled the fenders and unnecessary items and raced stock. Of course after a low MPH they hoped it up more, but we will save that for another video....

To see and document someone in 2023 doing what that person's grandfather might have done in 1947 is a story in in itself and you've done exactly that. I am somewhat surprised at just how "agricultural" the hot rod body actually looks. I hope you're willing now to drop in some of your exotic and rare Ford flathead V-8 parts as the project moves forward. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

Read some of the comments about ruining the car. As a lifelong bone stock restorer all I can say is all the parts that were unbolted can be put right back on in a few hours. There is no destruction going on. To think that it being restored to original is the only way to honor the car is incorrect. The 32 for more than any other car is responsible for the modern Hot Rod and that is it's true legacy is the at home mechanic who customized and made cars faster, this is where Detroit started emulating the early customs all the way to today's copo camaros. .

Honestly, it's looking great so far! it's incredible how much removing the fenders changes the look. The mods so far have been very tasteful, too! Looking forward to this series, very curious what is in store as far as mods go! Also, I've changed my previous stance. After watching the last video going over the car in detail, and what's been discovered in this one, it's clear that this car was a "driver quality" restoration and not an original. I don't feel so bad about this one being hot rodded after considering that. If anything, this is an excellent candidate to hot rod, since it's so clean!

Before all of you get your Shorts in a Wad, It was a restored Car, Not all original, After Market Parts, That was just made to look like it was. The Generation that loved them in Stock Form is getting smaller and smaller, Matt has turned it from a Drive in a Parade Old Man Car into something that anyone who likes Hot Rods will love. Pretty Sure when Matt gets it Finished, It will be a Head Turner.

I can't get over some of these comments. It kills me when people act like they can tell people what they can and can't do with their own cars. I remember when Jimmy Shine wanted to paint his famous bare metal truck and caught a bunch of crap for it. I think his response was "it's my car, I'll burn it to the ground if I want to. Keep up the great work ITG!

So glad to see those lime green wheels and whitewalls go! So many 32, and Model A restorations, particularly roadsters, involve getting overly cute. Two tone paint, contrasting wheels, chrome, whitewalls, etc. Love what you're doing with this car. I'd love to see you go with a modified Model B engine. V8's are a dime a dozen, and they're great, but I love a well executed, modified 4 banger. Carry on boys!!

This is exactly the video I’ve been looking for ; absolutely excellent and the car looks terrific: this just what I want to do and right now I’m in the process of finding a good 1930 x32 with a AB8 or a good running stock 4 cylinder engine and make some minor modifications: I’m a surfer who fell in love with these cars about 12 years ago when I was surfing up by Asbury one morning and they were setting up this race called TROG- and an attendee every year since: befriended Mel when I made him this vintage style TROG racing flag and now I’m doing everything I can to learn about these cars; with the help of your videos and others: So keep up the great work, your videos are super informative and well put together. I hope to stop out one day to meet you guys and see your shop since I’m located in Avalon and Medford , Nj looking forward to up coming videos on this car,

watched this episode, a little apprehensive at the beginning but when it was complete it looked cool! After you explained the reason for the mods. it made a lot of sense a lot of people would i think might have done the same thing from that era to make a hot rod. With the parts taken off the car they could have sold them to buy hot rod parts, what ever was available at the time! Cool project well done! I enjoy your program and every thing that comes out ! If you don't already have plans for an engine swap, and you still have that red banger with the OHV head sitting on an engine stand in the shop you might consider it. Or just the overhead if the bottom end and the babbitt in the B engine in the car is in good condition. We build big (300 to 700 CI) early fours and Model T Ford OHV racing engines.

a lot of people are probably getting upset about what you did to this '32 ford banger, but like you said the car is not original with a lot of reproduction parts. The good thing about starting with such a car is you spend less money, time, and energy fixing the car that you can now spend to modify it. I'm into old bikes and it is the same thing. Awesome build, and I hope you put a flathead V8 in this car with some cool old speed parts. Awesome content as always Matt. Keep up the good work.

Way back when, an owner of this car decided to make a hot rod out of his old ‘32 and he probably enjoyed it until he decided to sell it. The new owner decided to make the car the way it would have originally been. So, he restored it to near factory fresh. Fast forward to today and Matt decides to again make the car what it was….a hot rod! Sometimes life takes us into a circle. I guess that it must be the same for this “Duce” roadster. 😆
