Iroz Motorsport 1000HP Intercooler Install & Comparison

Now that I have a TTE777 strapped onto the back of my motor I knew it would be time to upgrade my intercooler as well. I purchased the Iroz Motorsport 1000hp core to upgrade from my 800hp intercooler core that I have used successfully for the past year and a half. In this video I do a quick review of the install as well as showing you datalog comparisons of my 800hp core VS my 1000hp core with my TTE700 and TTE777 setups.

Nice install and core. I have Iroz’s original slanted core on my 8J full frame 850 not sold to the general public. It basically early development car after he installed one in Tim’s car. I like what you did with the OEM crash bar. I’ve been focusing with safety upgrades over the last few years and think it is time pull it and replace it. It needs touch up paint so needs to be pulled anyways. I’m going to add the crash bar and maybe do a custom bar.

As you are running E85, I can recommend running a injector and spray E85 into the intake stream after intercooler little before the throttlebody. It lowered my temps on my race car from 42c to 3c.... so cold that my intake would have condensarion on it after a few pulls...

Hey Adam! Thanks again for another great video. I've been watching you for awhile now, since I had my full bolt-ons stage 2 2019 Golf R, and I recently upgraded to a brand new 2020 RS3 and am planning the build. Quick question, I am looking at the Iroz intercoolers, or the Wagner tuning ones since I have adaptive cruise control and like you do not want to lose the crash bar. It looks like the Wagner EVO is well rated, offers up to 600hp and 600hp+ versions, but it is a bit more expensive than the Iroz IC. Just curious if you checked out the Wagner intercoolers and what your thoughts are for someone planning a stage 2 e85 build?

I haven't heard anything particularly bad about the Wagner intercooler. I have heard a lot of good things about the Iroz one though. I have used an Iroz intercooler in my RS3 since day 1.

What made you chose black paint over black anodizing and does the paint not cause some negative heat gain?

When you ask for it to be black from Iroz they paint it for you. Figured we'd just do the same thing and add some primer for it to stick.

Theoretically if you still ran the TTE700 and not the 777 would you need a new tune having upgraded the intercooler?

I think the bigger turbo is more efficient helping keep the charge temperature down also.

The exact opposite actually. The housing of the 777 is the same as the 700. Only the internals are bored out more for the 777. The temps are actually higher and worse with the 777.

As of right now I will only be getting a BETA tune for E85.

@@VancityAudi did you? i only heard you say it couldn't be seen behind grill. a layer of paint seems like a bad idea perhaps anodising is the way to go if you want black?

@@matthewheffernan3877 That's exactly why. I don't want it to stand out behind the grill. I like it to be hidden. Iroz doesn't offer it to be anodized. They only offer to paint it for you for an additional fee. So we painted it ourselves.
