Anand Gandhi

4 жыл бұрын

I have been recording conversations between scientists, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and artists as a part of a continuing film project.
In 2015, ideas curator Lakshmi Pratury brought great change-makers together for the INK Talks conference in Mumbai.
In the hotel lobby, I paired people who didn’t know each other, together, for candid freewheeling conversations. I offered them only three cues - the self, the ecosystem, and the future of humans.
In one such exchange, actor Irrfan and entrepreneurs Asha Jadeja, Sunny Singh, and Anu Aga shared insights with each other.
While this is yet to be edited for the final film, the following raw edit is being released as a tribute to the great actor as I remember him - a vast, compassionate, rational, and graceful seeker of truth.
----
(Excerpt from a work-in-progress production, produced by Zain Memon, directed by Anand Gandhi for Memesys Studios
Shot on location at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai, in collaboration with INK Talks
Disclaimer: The views and opinions expressed in this work are those of the participants and do not necessarily reflect the views of the author and his affiliates.)
(Music from film Ship of Theseus, produced by Sohum Shah, directed by Anand Gandhi, composed by Naren Chandavarkar and Benedict Taylor, used under Creative Commons License)

amazing! so true! while watching the father-son conversation (in the car) clip from Namesake, I realized that the dialogues in the scene were almost the same words that Irrfan was using years later answering a journalist's question narrating experiences about parent hood. undoubtedly, it is needless to say his acting was so reflective of and intertwined with his life-experiences !

Yesterday, I read Sutapa mam's tweet, she said the actor always used to find gain in everything and after going through this video I realised she was right when she said there is a gain in his departure. The multi dimensional view point and saying we Indians looking for role models. I rightly agree with his points. We are taking spirituality in a different direction. We have been fighting on having best spiritualism in the world even without knowing the half of it. The more we know about it the more is unknown to know. I gained from his death...I gained his attitude to do the right thing even if others aren't doing because right is right even if zero person is doing it. Wrong is wrong even if all of them are doing. Thanks a ton for uploading this video and I wish we could have more videos featuring the young mind with grey hairs. 🙂

And glad we have his words to help us heal through what so many of us experience as a personal loss (despite having had no direct connect) His words, the freedom he talks about, the embracing of uncertainty, the recognition of being part of the creation and therefore inherently incapable of/inadequate in a way to perceive the whole.... Words that can shatter and yet liberate too... Opening up our minds to a dimension where he exists, not as only his memories, but as a part of us... Where we are not truly separate, but only a perceivable separate part of an ever evolving whole. You live on...

Irrfan Khan was an advanced soul. He was awakened which not many ppl will understand. I think he must have attained Moksha Maybe he just got relieved from the cycle of birth and death.

Towards the end when Anand interrupted just to say that Irrfan has to go, my heart escaped a beat... That rational mind and charismatic personality might have been gone, but his words and body of work stays with us forever; just the way he concluded the conversation. Thanks a lot Anand

M angry on myself a bit too. I have lost these years watching fashionable movies while the gem was near. This publicity thing is a curse. We are so lost in promotional activities of buggies that we have no time to see the gems

Thank you thank you so much for this. I always admired him as an actor but the more I'm getting to watch the human and his insight, his wisdom I feel enriched. What a man Irrfan is! He can never go away. The very special corner of our hearts will always be secured for this man only. He is there. He shall be there forever.

Watching this video makes me feel that he is not gone and may be no one goes, there are many person like him, around you, and you dont need to find them you will eventually meet them, and when you do learn from them take all good things and spread love to the world, and in the end when you are gone, you will still be in any of you and eventually you are never gone.

Amazing Conversation... While we were still understanding Irrfan, he had to leave and catch a flight here in this video and otherwise too ironically. That's life.. I never commented in youtube comments. But after watching this, i couldn't stop myself.. I feel i missed on him for so many things to learn but he has already gone.. I dint feel so much loss on a celebrity's death but for him. Mostly coz i lost my father in law 2 months back due to Cancer.. I completely empathize the pain and loss

Ramya Vivek, don’t you think it seems metaphorical, that Irrfan has a flight to catch, and this video has to end ?!! Flight as in passing away, video as in the video of life ?!! And both, this video and his life, left all of us wishing for more 😢😢Omg this video is a gem ! He was moving to newer spaces. I so wish he continued to live more, wanted to know his thoughts more, wanted to watch his works more 😢😢 And so sorry for your loss, may god bless you
