All American Asphalt should not accept any buy-out offer from the City of Irvine for under $500 million. This whole situation is the complete fault of the City Council who changed the land use plan for these homes to be built next to an industrial site. The Environmental Impact Report (EIR) specifically cited the potential offput from AAA making this not a desirable site for Orchard Hill homes to be built. The Mayor and Council Members then voted to approve because each of them were receiving campaign contributions and philanthropy grants from the homebuilders and their agents. One cannot just simply “close” a plant with affecting All American Asphalt business and the well-paying blue-collar jobs. They will have to relocate, likely outside of California, taking jobs and tax revenues with them. The ignorance coming from Council Member Treseder is not surprising, she didn’t do any research as to how her predecessors created this mess. City of Irvine should have had an employee with at least 15 years of service to speak on this subject, Treseder was not it.

Why can’t they charge the Developers who sold these “Dream Homes” to the suckers?

City of Irvine needs more unaffordable housing. Lady's talking like anyone can buy a home in Irvine let alone Orange County in general.

Sooo the Asphalt plant was all nice in the middle of no where. No one next to them to make them "sick". Which is odd since Asphalt is used in about 90% of USA roads so I don't hear of any workers getting sick. And now because someone wanted to build homes near it, the company is being asked to sell? wtf is wrong with USA

instead of closing the plant and sending it overseas, why not try to reduce the emissions and fumes by using industrial catalytic converters and other methods for a cheaper price? make it cleaner, keep the jobs, keep the fresh asphalt rolling baby

It’s not the company’s fault it’s the house developers problem, they keep building closer and closer to the plant, so of course your smell it 😂 lamo!

Asphalt, like concrete batch plants need to be in general, pretty close to the areas they serve, as they're both time and temperature sensitive. How is moving this plant going to better serve the city? Gravel pits, concrete and asphalt plants are necessary in the modern world. How about not building right next to one?? Greedy developers, politicians and the dreaded "environmental 😢 concerns". Always entertaining😂 Dumb-dumbs
