You guys don't know the mechanics of HE rounds ? Nominal damage /2 - (THINNIEST armor in the splash radius * 1.1 * Spall Liner value) ;where 50% equals 1.5. So yes, IS-4 has 40 or 30mm side armor above the tracks, Spall liner isn't going to do shit there, it's going to reduce damage by like 15 from HW hit to the side of the tank, according to the formula.

Lmao I havent played since Christmas. Played 3 games on friday all 3 losses. I averaged 2k damage in tier 8s, not great but not terrible for being gone for 9 months. Got told to uninstall and kill myself in a private message after the second game. Not sure why I would have to uninstall if I killed myself. Doing either would accomplish what he wanted. Needless to say I stopped playing and went back to total war warhammer 2.

I love the fact that the enemy team came together and capped in that first game, they knew they were no match for a is4 430u and 268v4. If this was console they'd slug it out to the death.

So from my testing with the spall liner, I have noticed that it does not reduce damage taken from HE shells, instead what it does is whenever you take no damage from a HE shell, those happen, when you hit a very thick piece of armor, it increases the chance of a little bit thinner piece of armor being able to absorb that HE so it does no damage. In my opinion, it's pretty trash, people still spam you for 150 damage with HE and arta slaps you for 550 but very rarely the moments when arta does 0 damage with a direct hit happen. Personally I don't like the new spall liner.

ive been wondering what the spall liner actually does for dmg reduction myself. the other day i just got HE to death in my super conqueror like what do you mean 60% reduction to what may i ask??? glad im not the only one struggling with this so called anti arta module seems the other functions work fine but is not mandatory for survival wich is what i had intended for it.

It actually works. FV4005 would hit me for 700+dmg splashing on my side, but would be reduced to 500-600 splahes with spall liner on the IS-4.

No, actually WG did buff the spall liner. The direct hit from G.W would have caused 450-500 dmg in the past, now it only deals about 396 dmg! WG rebalance Actually the spall liner does work, not that consistently tho

I loved the is4 so much. isold my is7 3 times and kept the is4. they really wrecked it years back by making the ammo rack in behind the front drive wheels. if you kept them covered you did ok. then the gun was crap. even all old was hard to do. cool to see it working again. seems to be a little faster too.

Engine deck on IS4 is still only 30mm so arty is still going to wreck you when it hits there even with the spall liner

Yeah.., The new spall liner is Utter Kakku.. It ONLY works if arta hits tracks. I traded it for a turbocharger on my E3 just because there was NO F***ING difference with or without one.

Its in reverse. Artys direct shot and full dmg. My chiff regularly takes for 500dmg from arty.

Spall liner reduce HE damage on non-penetrating HE shots. If arty penetrates your engine deck or the top of tank then it won't reduce any damage. 60TP and FV4005 tend to shoot HE directly (without penetration), spall liner will help with those.

The second i opened wot after the update i went to my trusted is4 to finally try it out and see if it finally became competitive again, only to find out that it's the same as before, the only consistent thing is the number of arty shells and gold ammo they shoot you nonstop. Sold it after a few games with a big sad face

Guys! I need your help. Season 3 is here, IS-4 and T110E5 is in focus. What is your opinion on both tanks people? I have the american heavy already, it was a pleasant surprise. It's mobile and the armor is pretty reliable, BUT that nipple on it's head is a huge weakpoint. Which you people prefer more, and why? The american T110E5 or the IS-4?

Hi Skill4ltu! The spall liner does not! reduce the dmg received by HE. It reduces the crew injury, modul and ram dmg. In first game you ram WZ for a good dmg trade and didn't receive modul or crew dmg although 2 arta hits. So spall liner worked exactly as on WoT Info described.

@@jonwebb7042 No it doesn't in a significant way. Skills battle shows this and on the forum a guy told about a test he did with / wo spall liner. Result: dmg nearly same, significant lower crew and modul dmg..Edit version: May be you're right I've now found different answers to this point.🤔 As HE has extreme difference in dmg / unreliable this could be the reason that's hard to find a 100% correct answer....

@@c.b.4270 According to in game it says the damage of HE is directly reduced. I think that is only from direct hits however. You can see the first two shots are splash, whereas all the direct hits do next to nothing. It is stupid and shouldnt work this way, but i think it is the case

IS4 was never gone and never left , so it can't be back :). It's just people got used to playing only OP tanks and it became rare to see an IS4 on the field :). My favorite tank forever :)

its bit different for IS7 because its super popular tank and expectations get dragged down by its popularity, IS7 is still very good tank, but to be truly very good tank it needs better gold pen, 300 in current meta is not a good pen

Playing a super heavy tank and thinking you got armor, With all this HEAT spamming, my Leopard bounces more shots than most of my "heavys". And with the new equipments, I feeling most tanks at tier 10 have a super amount of spotting skills. Most of my tier 10 meds have over 500m, there is no need for tier 10 scouts anymore (exept ebr).

Dedicated scouts with scout build will outspot any medium any time if it commits to spotting and it gets to have an open map. God bless them if they got city maps tho

All in all, when we summarize what we saw, the IS-4 was one of the best armored vehicles in the game, once upon a time. Today it is no longer even close to that, even after this buff. It’s not an R.I.P, but it’s not far from that either.
