The main strength of this tank is that everyone know it's weak

I am an original owner of this tank and have a few hundred games in it. Funny thing is when it came into the game it was basically just a better IS3 because the armor was good enough to just charge in front and you never really had to worry about hitting the shots. No one fired gold, average penetration for tier 8s was about 200, and the skill of players was way lower. Also it was the first Heavy in the game to have apcr as standard. But now a days, oh boy its bloody painful. Even with WGs buffs to the gun it still needs more. Also Im back with the TWENTY EIGHTH day asking for the Charlemagne:)

back when i still played i bought this - and was AMAZED at how totally useless it was. i played it for one day and its sat in garage ever since.

am i the only one who does well with this tank? i feel like it's my strongest tier 8 tank, u can have good angles, good turret, and the gun handling is pretty good with stabilizier, the alpha dmg is good, and reloads pretty fast. idk i think people don't like it cause u must play a different than the common playstyle, and once u master it, it's insane

Hey skill, i know you show equipment on index, but there is also a mod in aslains pack that shows the equipment during the game. Would be a nice convenience, if you want to consider it.

I bought this tank and turned it into a heavium with a Mobility Improvement System, Stabilizer, and vents (can be swapped with something else if you'd like). It's actually not that bad and feels pretty unique... You have the mobility to compete with mediums while having the option to brawl with heavies. I think mobility improvement system is the correct choice because it helps this tank get closer to its mobility potential, and also slightly increases the accuracy

And this is a buffed state, imagine how bad it used to be haha

I have the same situation of not hitting shots on the side of tanks in my 6 skill t26e4, I have a turbo rammer and improved aiming and turbo rammer and hardening on my second set of equipment

Gun handling can't be worse than the emil II

Everyone knows its not great but, for whatever reason, its working for me with both a better WN8 and win rate than my average and I don't hate it. It's still in my garage to avoid "winning" it in a loot box.

Think IS-5 biggest issue is being like a T10/Obj 277 with dead loader and gunner...afterall think it has the same gun as t10

you know.. i played enough wot to know that having a more precise gun is a better option, a must, instead of gun rammer, there is no use for a gun rammer if you cannot hit your shots and that happened to me with the t-103 because i went from 35% win rate to more than 50% and it was the gun, it was really really unprecise without proper equipment. Now, talking about this tank, i dont have it but i checked the armor profile, and skill, this is a tank for only frontal use or a bit with its gun depression, the armor frontally is 260mm, if you angle it you expose your side and make it a big weakspot (that happened on this battles), just use it frontally aiming at your opponent, the turret is good of course and another thing i noticed, the standard ammo is much more precise than the premium one, you know why? its APCR with 1400 shell velocity wich means that in reality the standard ammo is much more precise than its numbers, i mean, the tank numbers and you should only use its gold ammo in close combat, i mean, really close.

It's like playing Defender with frontal armor shaved off

i dont know about you guys, but this tank when its played with, vent, imp. aiming and rammer with food ofc is decent tank... i played it for 300+ games and im satisfied. Great shell velocity, average armor, gun handling is average to good. Deppens on the game... Its not that bad, you just have to play a bit more to figure it out.

have to say, the platform and speed aren't terrible here. No real different than IS3 or WZ111? The gun dep isn't as bad as being stated here either, with its buff to -7. the big problem here is the wild, temperament gun that doesn't want to do what you want, ever. Not sure why WG didn't buff the accuracy when buffing IS-5 awhile back. considering they buffed lS6, 112, WZ111, T-34-3 and considering coming out with better accuracy with Defender, 703, 50TP? lS5 should have got 0.42

I wasted 10k bonds on this crap few years ago and i regreted instantly,dealed 5k with it but domt't worth it at all!

According to me it not a dynamic playstyle tank and has amazing shell velocity, i use bounty Vent, bounty Improve Aiming Unit, and normal stabillizer, play at second line in 2/3 time of the match. And oh boy oh boy, many idiots including light tanks pay for their mistake when they think this thing's gun can't hit. best record is 6k dmg, and many from 3-4k. It little boring in today meta but still like it. My advice for decent result in this tank: "do not try to use your armor" lol

I do feel like 50 games for rating is a bit much for lower tier tanks, personally I can't rate any tech tree tanks below T9 because I just grind through them before that.

IS-5 strength is that is has a good looking design.

So, this is an actual Soviet Hevyum, with none of the benefits of a Heavy and really only the mobility of a Medium. Though at least, in comparison to something like FCM 50t, the IS-5 does have a decent Alpha gun (not saying FCM is a bad tank, just severely lacking as a Heavy tank)

Yo Skill, this is a good video, but I have to say that on this tank, in my case, the gun is behaving much much better than on tech tree IS-3, with the same crew and same equipment.

We have 2 versions of this tank on console. It is “meh” tank but not not unplayable.

Why would someone buy this if they can buy is 6 and trade it for a good premium tank in the trade in events? Also if you dont like tier 10 like me just get 8k bonds every time and buy is 6 you can easily get op premium tanks like the elc even 90 cs 52 lis and 122 tm ive never purchased a premium tank thanks to this methodl

Because nowadays when you are saying Chinese stamp all you can see is BZ-176🙄 spitting in your face for 800-1000 dmg... 🤣BTW i'm playing with high ping jumps and for last few months there is some glitches too i mean the tanks/shells jumping/teleporting forwards/bacwards... even when the ping is ok... I was thinking it's only me well my computer cuz it's old... But i have heard that others having same glitches too even with new high end PC's + 5G connection... 🤯 Oh the point is that because of these problems i'm thinking to go in to dark side and play some arty...💩

Skill, why are you rating IS-5 worse than IS-6? Judging from its stats, IS-5 is faster and has way better ammo, especially premium. So why do you rate these factors worse for IS-5 than for IS-6?
