I am a Native American from the Oglala Lakota and Kichwa people and since I was 6 years old I was trained my my grandfather knife fighting and tomahawk blade combat and till today I still conceal carry a tomahawk. And it's a great tool for me.

I can't even imagine carrying that thing without getting in legal trouble let alone using it on someone. You can already here the prosecutor calling you a crazy guy that carries around an axe to kill people with, I can't really disagree with that. It is cool though.

Historically, there were tomahawk that were made purely as weapons. The blades were more like spears. Traditionally chopping style tomahawks were always tools first that people pushed into being weapons out if necessity. But anytime you can take the best parts of a tool and make it a better weapon, you've got a something truly formidable. Also lightweight is generally the strength of the tomahawk over the hatchet. Having a weaponized hawk be light as possible is totally a benefit. People often to load up and take big swings, but snapcuts from the wrist are really where it's at. But yeah definitely a cool product. Great job to the craftsman

My only concern with this tomahawk is how long and how curved the back spike is. It's a fantastic looking piece but if I were genuinely going to fight with it, I'd want a poll or a shorter back spike. I think that much curve to the back spike would make certain techniques more of a danger to the wielder.

Man that's interesting! I love the idea of this. I carry multiple knives for utility and defense but I can honestly see this replacing my defensive blade, nice.

I feel like calf shots with that while you have someone tied up in a clench would be the most brutal. You would make them practically immobile, all you would need to do is step back and call 911 (assuming this is self defense). Also that hook could disembowel someone real bad.

Lol. This is great. Self defense usually should focus on keeping you out of trouble even if you're forced to to defend yourself physically. This Tomahawk should perform excellent in the "defend" portion but I guess not so well in the "explain that to the judge" discipline. :D

This looks amazing, my only concern is having to adjust your grip when you draw it under stress/pressure. Maybe wearing it on your off side so you can draw with your off hand and then grab the handle with your primary hand would be better?

Just to point out that the bearded axe type tomahawk is useful for parrying, hooking and controlling an opponent's weapon or shield - you don't have to reverse it to hook the other guy's shield like you would with the Wingard. Though that said, you could as easily reverse it & use the spike on the back-side of the fasthawk to do what the front side of the Wingard does, but with more weight behind it to punch through skulls.

If you were ever to lose the sheath you know you can make a new from PVC or leather. But also from 8mm paracord/polyprop line. Just tie (not just wrap) around the blade from the base to the tip. If there are gaps, go back and fill in the gaps with more passes. Then "snip and cinch". Melt the ends together down at the base. Then just have a metal object at hand and heat the tied wrap of 8mm polypropline. Press it all over. Many tools like pliers or scissors have no sheath but still poke holes in your pockets after awhile. This method is easy, no leather, no pvc pipe of the right dimension is needed. No weird pointy part of vegetation cutting tools is shown to the public so they can't react with hysteria :"Oh he's got a knife!!" Anyway great upload thx!

Imagine looking out the window and seeing your neighbor working an archery target with a tiny tomahawk 😂

After watching this and seeing just HOW MUCH he absolutely LOVES that thing, at the end, after the outro and we get to see him just playing/practicing with it. It LITERALLY scared me for him because of how close he was getting to himself with the hooked spike end, like I will say even though he was being fast with it, I could still tell he was making sure not to get hung up on the spike again, but still, there ware 2 times it ACTUALLY scared me watching because he was being so enthusiastic about it that he did come EXTREMELY close. So close that I know if he wasn't being as mindful as he was and if he DIDN'T already have that small brush with it snagging his shirt, that I know for a fact that if it was someone else or especially ANYONE that isn't trained and still practicing mindfully martial arts, they would have ripped their own throat out with it, since it has that curve to it to help with it's concealability. And to be honest I bet he had at least one more close call with it off camera even with him being mindful. I hope some people don't take this the wrong way and think I'm dumping on him or the weapon, because I'm 100% NOT. I've been a long time fan of his for a while (Hell, I even resubscribed to him after my last accident got hacked a few years back, so if anyone would try to say that I'm not a fan of his, I think that alone would dismiss that claim. Lolol) and I actually really really DO like the concealable tomahawk and the guy that made it has an amazing mind! But what I DO think is if someone doesn't have a good amount of practice with that this, they are DEFINITELY going to hook themselves, ESPECIALLY if they actually DO have to pull it out to defend themself because anything can happen and it seems that things happen for the worst when someone gets into that sort of situation. Like the people that EDC Airsoft guns instead of ACTUALLY getting their permit (And I know what you're thinking, but yes, I swear they exist, I've personally seen not just 1, but 3 different people, and 2 of them were when I was in totally different states! I thought it was the dumbest shit I ever saw and heard when I met the first one and thought they were just a little special and let it go. But once I saw that it wasn't just that one dude.... Things totally flipped in my mind about a lot of random people, especially the ones that choose to open carry in states that allow you to do both.) When shit hits the fan.... Like what the hell are they going to do??? And it's even worse when people that EDC and HAVEN'T had any training. I guess that's what it all comes down to. Please, if you're going to EDC something for protection, PLEASE for the love of God if for not just yourself but at very least the people AROUND you, please please 🙏🙏 train and learn whatever you EDC with inside and out.

That tomahawk has some serious pull out game

You incident with the hook reminded me when I was training sai way back when doing switching thrusts with two of them. Was getting tired, got sloppy and the tsume on my right hand sai nearly disemboweled me! Tore a huge gash through the side of my shirt and made me respect them that much more afterwards!

Suggestions: 1) should you train for self defense in everyday clothes? 2) how is a water bottle for self defense? Especially a metal one, it works as a makeshift club. Plus if you can splash water, people naturally wipe their face.

With the sog you can grab just under the blade and use as a striking weapon too. I do like that Tommy. Great video.

One of the best things of the tomahawk is the ability of being able to hook and pull a person into the other weapon, like a big knife, so you can take advantage of 2 handed fighting technique. Having the ability to hook is preserved in this tomahawk while at the same time preventing the unintended accidental tying up of the weapon while it is being deployed. Fast, nimble and light in combat is better then slow and hard to control.

I saw you using it overhand Mike, but try reverse gripping it with the crescent side facing towards your body. It greatly increases striking speed, and doesn't make you commit to a overhead swing. You can also use a high guard that way putting it overhead

I saw one lady carrying one of these about 20 years ago just south of downtown Tucson, Arizona. It was the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen anyone carry. Truthfully, I think it’s pretty cool.

Max the mini axe by Topps knives is the one I conceal carry it to has a quick deployment kedex sheath but the on you have is much better. The mini axes head is inside your waist band with handle up carry.

I do love that little curve on the end of the handle. If this would be expanded upon, it could function like a curved handle that some sabers have. Could increase the range for some quick fencing style jabs.
