Brand new they were $285,000 and 11 years later, they're sitting between $120,000-$150,000. Not bad for 11 years, right? It's time to put the V8 to test, it certainly isn't the V10, but heck, let's give it a go. Join us in exploring the Audi R8 and let's listen to its naturally aspirated V8 engine growl. Hyde Jekyll I can’t really decide between the two. I love the sideblade and the curvy rear but love the more aggressive styling of the newer models. The older models are such a deal for ~$100,000 less but I’m not sure if It’d be worth missing out on the the faster speeds and the modern technology of the newer models.

Arturo Guevara the 2017 fell in value a lot they’re within 40-50 grand of a nice 2013 v10, I think the huracan and the plus are to blame for that.

I bought a 2010 V10 a year and a half ago and I completely agree, I can't believe just how current and beautiful it still looks after so many years... I just love it, best car I've ever owned and driven

That description is insane, there's a couple clean title r8s around me for $49k with only 37k miles on them. I know it's bias per area but damn.. New v10s are around 170k

@@thomasalias8492 That's not a valid argument if a car was a supercar at the time then it remains a supercar forever, its not like once normal cars outpeform it that it becomes a regular car. that would mean that if in 20years they make cars that make 500 hp easy then a lambo would be a sports car and not a supercar. you gotta judge a car with other cars from the same time period in terms of performance

Short answer: yes Long answer: I have a 2009 4.2, and I’ve gotta say, it’s a monster! Torquey, lovely bite, great cornering, loud, and most importantly, it absolutely fly’s! I was paying £4300 on the table and £875 a month over 44 months so it costed me an arm and a leg but I must say, it was worth it. Just some of the looks you got from people, especially in a place where there isn’t many super cars, is a great feeling. If you’ve got the cash, by all means go for this beast of a motor.

Fantastic car! My first R8 was manual (amazing), second is R- tronic and I have to admit as a car I use and abuse every day - the R-tronic is the best by far as an all rounder. I prefer it to the S-tronic too... neck snapping is amazing + it feels way faster + less fines!! PS I think V8 is the way for an every day car... it sounds better with the exhaust in this video + cheap and easy to maintain.

Hmmm... While it does have a V8 and looks good still it is out classed in both power/lb, aesthetics and interior in the 2018 TT RS for a lot less money in a new car.

Iwas rewly surprised as well. I have 2014 spyder, its got the proper dual clutch not the shitty R tronic. And i couldn't believe how manny people stares and takes photos and videos. Just got the new 2018 V10 Plus. Hope its the same haha😂

I have a Nissan 370Z that I just traded in for an Audi R8! I found a black on black model with black wheels and red calipers. It just passed the Audi tech inspection and im so pumped. Its getting an extreme detail job done. All wheels off, undercarriage wash and primed. All fluids drained and replaced, fresh oil. I'm getting new AS tires and alignment if needed. Also getting all the brakes pads changed. Another thing I might change is getting a new gas cap cover in something darker. If it had silver wheels it matches, but with black wheels I'm not sure if its too contrasting. All in all I love her and I should have her Monday Tuesday at the latest! I've have a '09 V8 manual, I bought new. I cannot praise the car enough, every drive is a revelation. A true super car thats reliable and can be driven every day in comfort...

Hello Lecha, congrats on the videos. May I ask for your advice? I'm starting to build my collection and I have doubts on the following cars. The idea is only to buy cars to keep: Porsche 991.2 GT3 with manual transmission Audi R8 4.2 V8 with manual transmission Limited Edition 1 of 15 Audi R8 V10 Plus Ferrari 458 Speciale Ferrari 488 Pista Spyder Lamborghini Aventador S of the above. Which ones do you consider "keepers"?

Tony Gantus Hi Tony, Thanks for reaching out. In terms of collectible, I would remove the V10 plus and the Aventador S from that list. Everything else is deemed more of a modern collectible although the real collectibles are the older classic cars I.e Dino 246, Ferrari pre 74’s etc. We never know what the future may hold for the modern car, at times, I say just buy them to drive and enjoy.

The older ones I've already bought 😊 I wish I could just buy to enjoy without regarding future value but taxation in Brazil distorts the car prices so much that I must be extra careful when choosing new cars to add. You live just once, so, if you love driving and you can without comoromising your retirement, go on. The r8 is a super sports car in all sense, with low miles even cheaper than a 911 porsche in similar conditions. With dealers all around and available parts it could be your dream car without turning into a nightmare. Im really thinking in getting a low miles ones, actually ive seen one 2009 v8 in my country with 10,000 miles for us 55,000 which i consider very affordable for this machine.

A car that was 30K people are literally selling for 45/50K! Saw an autotrader post that’s been active for a year and the person has updated the price from 38k to 50k I mean seriously?

@@SupercarAdvocates Being in the UK there are more than a few excuses for the increase in price. “Inflation, Brexit, Covid, Silicon trade implications etc.” & people have come to the conclusion the R8 is now a Classic and Hybrids are not as thrilling. Being someone who was/is really interested in this car I can’t see the price going down anytime soon, when a 2008 V8 is £40,000 and a 2013 V10+ is £62,000 it’s hard to justify the purchase but even more so comparing an 08 V8 against 13 V10+ at only 20K more for so much extra car. I do think it’s been overdone and some individuals and dealerships have got a bit too excited for the price increase. Hopefully it’ll be like toilet paper and the prices will stabilise however, that’s unlikely if manufacturers know they can sell older used cars for high prices.

a budget supercar is still a supercar and will be admired by those who dream big. sports cars like the over priced track mustangs, camaros, m2, rs3 are all great for 2-3 years but really lose their shine once the "new" model comes. just look at a 5 year old M3 or Boss Mustang or original zl1 Camaro...I bet you are thinking wow those are junk now.

Dr Dwg oil change from the dealer was about $3,500. They drop the engine so labor accounts for a lot of the cost.
