The age old theory of Akuma being the father of Ryu has always held its ground.
Before I was even into the Street Fighter series, I used to hear that theory all of the time across the internet. Fans have theorized for years whether or not such a thing holds merit.
Before the release of Street Fighter 5, I was neutral about the theory. I felt as though there wasn’t enough proof for me to believe such a thing. However, everything changed with a smile.
Yes, a single smile. That is what finally piqued my interest in whether or not this theory held truth. And so, I went in depth with the story of Street Fighter and did some research on my own.
Today, I present to you evidence that could possibly point towards Akuma being the legitimate father of Ryu.

The Street Fighter Alpha games basically told us that Akuma is Ryu's father without them *officially* telling us. To get the Dark Hadou, you have to train for it. Ryu never *trained* for the Dark Hadou, which means that he has it because it's genetic.

It was hinted in alpha that Gouki and Goutetsu's granddaughter were intimate with one another. She supposedly died, along with the baby, during giving birth, but Gouken looked over an orphan child and took him in to train him when he was of age. Gouki wandered the earth in search of power without knowing of this until he witnessed the Satsui no Hadou existed in Ryu. Gouken was tainted with the Satsui no Hadou as well, but he discovered another way which you spoke of in the video.They come from a bloodline of demon assassins of war. The lore is interesting. I hope they confirm all lore of the entire franchise connected and cannon with one another.

I may not be a big Street Fighter fan, but some parts of the lore does interest me. The more I learned some facts about certain characters, the more I became a fond of, like: 1. Ryu 2. Ken 3. Sakura 4. Akuma 5, M. Bison 6. Chun Li 7. Cammy 8. Gouken 9. Vega 10. Lucia Morgan

I don't know why Gouken wouldn't tell Ryu he's Akuma son and he's Ryu's uncle.

If that theory is true, I would imagine that Gouken wouldn't want to give Ryu any influences/reasons whatsoever to follow in Akuma's footsteps. That kind of news would mess anyone up. And if that's the case, Akuma for sure would want Ryu to choose his own path... with a guiding hand considering his insults towards him.

@@roscodantethefightinggamen7939 Ryu wouldn't follow Akuma anyway that be a WTF moment in Street Fighter if all this time Ryu who is basically getting old all of a sudden he's the son of Akuma and Gouken probably be dead at that point in timeline next they might say Goutetsu is Akuma and Gouken father and is Ryu's grandfather it looks like a copy of the Mishima family from Tekken.

No...But at the same time maybe...but listen to me,I've been thinking about something for years now,I know in terms of the story,akuma and evil ryu are different characters. but If you think about it,evil ryu is actually (like)a younger version of akuma symbolically/metaphorically,evil ryu is like akuma before he evolved into the red haired beast,we currently know him as in the series.. evil ryu would be when ryu uses the satsui no hado,then over time,it eventually corrupts him,and he fights many warriors until he become the supreme master of the fist,akuma would be the stage of evil ryu,years as time passes and has now evolved into a skilled warrior looking to surpass being the best fighter and surpassing all of humanity itself. I actually wish capcom would've done a story with evil ryu,where's it actually suppose to just be akuma at an early point in his life,I think it would be interesting if capcom could tell the backstory of akuma and gouken's past by using the character of evil ryu and ken as a metaphor to represent the two brothers themselves,if capcom was to do something like this It would be really clever and interesting way of storytelling.

I remember readinv about this and turns out Akuma is Ryu from the Future, Akuma Travels in time to find worthy opponents to fight but the only real challenge is himself ao Akuma travels back in time to fight his younger self Ryu

Sadly with street fighters plot being fhe equivalent to reading a plate of spaghetti, fan theories aren't that hard to find or find them being semi canon to people. Some are interesting (ibuki being gekis daughter), some stupid (dan was taught by akuma at a point) and others completely baffling. My favorite nutter one is that Remy is the son of charlie and hates his father because he and chun li were having an affair before he died. Its so stupid but makes sense at the same time (granted this was around 2007) Akuma being ryus father is the only one I think of as canon since without it, ryus quest loses a lot of its meaning. Goukens back to life now so wy does ryu hunt akuma other then he wants to beat him up?

But if akuma is indeed ryu's father,why didn't gouken tell him,gouken been trying to protect ryu from gouki for years,and Akuma in sf4 attempts to kill him ,maybe it was a test by akuma to see if ryu can survive?

@@shadowclaw7210 ryu's little brother, you should watch street fighter alpha movie animated 1999. Shun meet Ryu and declare Ryu is the big brother. Then Shun gives the pitcure as a proof of their mother that holding hand with kid ryu. He tell ryu their mother's name is Sayaka. He comes to the Japan to entrust his mom mission to meet his brother before she died. Before that, Sayaka and Shun lives in Brazil. After Sayaka died, Shun come to japan for his brother In other scene, Shun also have Satsui no Hado(Dark Hado). Ryu ask his brother, where he learn this Dark Hado, he said from their father. And ryu ask again, who is their father and then someone was kidnap Shun. In street fighter assasin fist movie: Sayaka is the daughter of Gotetsu, the mentor for Gouken and Gouki(Akuma). Sayaka and Gouki are feel love each other(maybe they having sex before) After the incident when Gouki learn Dark Hado ileggaly, Gotestsu ask him to decide whether if he want to live in Dojo, he should stop his Dark hado illegal learning or leave the dojo if he want to continue powering his Dark Hado. Gouki choose to powering Dark Hado and leaves the dojo. He gives some last word to Sayaka, his brother Gouken and Gotetsu. When gouki left, Sayaka forced to married with Gouken, but the relationship not go too long after her father, Gotetsu killed by Gouki that already turn to Akuma. Sayaka ran from dojo and after that, she was undetectable. In case, maybe Sayaka gaves birth of son that maybe which may have something to do with Sayaka and Gouki. Maybe Sayaka leaves the dojo to meet love one. Maybe Sayaka leaves his son at tha forest that near with Gouken house and hoping Gouken can take care with him.

There’s a street fighter movie that shows Goki (Akuma) and Goken when there’s were young and at there teachers house. Akuma and his teachers daughter were has feelings for each other but Akuma didn’t wanna show it. The night Akuma killed his teacher goken and the teachers daughter were running to stop the fight but she couldn’t run cause she was throwing up (pregnant) and Goken knew it could only be for his brother. Akuma killed his teachers and never came back and story goes Ryu’s mother died giving birth to him and a stranger took in ryu then that same stranger took him to Goken. Idk if even Goken knows if he’s ryu’s uncle and if he does he doesn’t want Akuma to know about Ryu being his son because then he’d definitely not stop pursuing Ryu till he gives into the killing intent.

Well I wouldn't know why Gouken hiding that he's Ryu uncle from him if Ryu is Akuma's son feel like something copied from Tekken I think Akuma takes interest in Ryu cause Ryu strive to be the best and and Ryu cope with giving in to the Satsui No Hadou which Akuma possibly comes in to play since this happen to him but Ryu chose the Power Of Nothingness I like that comic book where Ryu masteted both the Satsui No Hadou and the Power Of Nothingness.

You should watch street fightet alpha movie 1999 animated. And you will get the hint from that. And also watch street fighter assasin to know Sayaka(maybe ryu mother) and Gouki(Akuma) already lovw each other
