Aldo is well past his prime but still competing with some of the UFC’s best with 35+ pro fights. I think it’s fairly obvious he came out of retirement to fulfill his final fight under his UFC contract and because 301 is in Rio 🇧🇷 + the card needed star power.

Aldo has turned into a defence first kind of fighter. And he's very good at that he slows down the fight to his pace like Mayweather did in boxing. I think he just needs to up his offensive output just a bit to make this style effective.

Here's something that Mighty mouse didn't pick up on, when ever Pedro was super close to Aldo he was landing some very good shots, so this for sure should of been Pedro's gameplan, keep the leg kicks going just to switch things up, but have a constant high tight guard for protection, and have a dirty boxing approach, Aldo would of gotten more uncomfortable from getting hit more, and he would of started to over commit on shots to try and force Pedro to back up, this is where Pedro gets a possible knockout

He’s legit. He’s relying on counter strikes and lost his aggressiveness especially with his kicks. He seems a shadow of his former self so much. He’s in my top five favorites too. I wish he’d get after his opponents.

If Volk beat Topuria and dropped the 45 belt or even dropped the 45 belt before fighting Topuria then I'd say it's Volk. Undefeated in his weight class and 5 defenses is crazy especially since he fought way better competition. But since Volk is probably going to pick up some losses like Aldo did, I think that evens the playing field a lot more and Aldo might end up being the clear fw goat. Unless..... Topuria becomes the fw goat which could also happen

As a big Aldo fan since wec, he just hasn't been the same since he stopped throwing kicks as regular weapon. Hominick exposed his gas tank, conor exposed his chin, and that foot injury or whatever it was stopped his kicks being regular. All those things became an issue for Aldo. Couldn't throw kicks the same, he started trying to be a boxer, his chin wasn't good enough for that, his gas tank started getting tested more and more. Without those kicks, it just started going down hill. I don't think he is as legit as he was with the kick as a frontline weapon. His hands aren't good enough and he doesn't use anything else. He was so used to keeping people from taking him down and then chopping their legs, which opened up opportunities for other strikes to land, that after he stopped throwing kicks like he used to, he didn't have much to use for offense. He doesn't utilize wreslting or jiu jitsu, or any type of grappling for offense. So he is stuck in a stand up mode where he can't even throw kicks much. So he is essentially just trying to win fights with hands. But his hands aren't good enough and his chin can't take the counters.

Aldo doesnt kick anymore. betcha he sustained a leg fracture back in the day and the kicks dissapeared. It was his most feared weapon.

No offense, but I believe other fighters often have the worst opinions on whether or not a fighter is at the end of their rope, or not... the mutual respect of working in same or similar environments and profession create a bias and inability to separate "fighting" from "entertainment".

I think Aldo's just really old and mostly done with MMA, the only reason he made it back was to finish his contract i believe.
