Is all of Carmel Indiana nice? ...it depends...
Carmel Indiana is widely regarded as one of the best places around Indianapolis to live. And not just around Indianapolis but the entire midwest... or country for that matter. But, is all of Carmel nice? Many people have heard of the Carmel in California, which is incredibly nice. But, what about Carmel, Indiana? Can it be completely and uniformly nice? Well, "nice" is of course a subjective term. Nice to one isn't necessarily nice to another. In this video we'll explore Carmel Indiana and just how "nice" it is or isn't all across the city. I looked at an older home in Carmel 2 years ago and it was seriously outdated. Listed at $350,000 and needed at least $50,000 in renovations. Walked away and went to find the home that was the best fit for us in Fishers Never looked back

That’s certainly common around Carmel. You can get more for the money in nearby cities

Grew up in Carmel in one of the small houses you'd probably refer as 'not nice'. I live in Cicero now, which is awesome. Carmel is for sure a safe place to live.

I had an ex-girlfriend in college that was from Carmel. She used to brag about how she had $35,000 in her bank account at a time when I only had around $10 in mine. Needless to say, that relationship didn't go on for far too long after that.

My husband and I moved to Carmel in late 2013. Back then, there were quirky shops, a low key atmosphere, and the Monon was relaxing to walk. Fast forward to 2022 and most of that was gone. The funky local stores have been displaced with banks and co-op office spaces. The new Monon trail is overrun at all times and while it's pretty, it's no longer relaxed. I even noticed bars starting to creep in and efforts to lure in young people. I liked that Carmel was mostly thirties and older. So, we moved back to Indianapolis towards Acton and built a home that cost as much as our condo did in Carmel. Now we're near family. Carmel isn't bad, it's just kind of losing its soul to million dollar condos on the main strip and vegan everything. 😮

How much is a 3-bed/3-bath (+/- 2K sq. ft.) house in a nice neighborhood? What is the property tax rate? What about house insurance?

Well I can tell you one thing, when it comes to the people, not all of them are nice. I was delivering for Uber, and was treated like a servant by a teenage girl. If I didn't need the money, I sure would have had a lot to say to this "girl". I know some people that live there that are awesome. But there are many people that live there that act as if they are above everyone else. I'm here to tell you that money does not make you a good person! And this town is the proof!

The problem with Carmel is finding even 1/4 acre is difficult.

Central Carmel is noisy and overcrowded. To many apartments are being built and traffic is becoming a nightmare.

I use work in Carmel many moons ago going way back to 1999. There wasn't much back then but I have to give it credit since it has come a long way since then. Outside of downtown Columbus, In I rank Carmel 2nd best suburb in architecture.
