Professor Kaarin Anstey addresses the question, "Is Alzheimer's disease preventable?" in a public lecture for the Australian Association of Gerontology. The event was held at the CSIRO Discovery Centre on 17 February 2011.
Professor Anstey's presentation begins with background on Alzheimer's disease and dementia, then focuses on the risk factors for Alzheimer's disease and the scientific evidence for each. She evaluates six categories of risk factors: demographic factors, genes, medical conditions, lifestyle factors, toxic exposures, and psychosocial factors.
