Wait up. I stopped the video at $230,000. I'm looking to get my MBA online for roughly $20,000. That's a real brick and mortar university that is online. The cost is not high, and I will still make about $150k/year with my degree after I graduate with the company I am already with. Good luck to everyone who pays that amount of money for their degree. Be smart, cashflow all your schooling and don't pay $100's of thousands of dollars just because the trees look nice in the courtyard!

Location and position have a lot to play into making that much with a MBA. Do not expect to make 150k post graduation. A more realistic expectation is 60-85k and that’s with experience. To get these 250k type roles your gonna have to work somewhere and really prove yourself, don’t count out having to have recommendations as well from top tier business professionals.

Thanks for the insightful video. Doing an MBA vs MS CS has been on my mind for a while. I was researching post MBA careers and it seems that most MBA grads tend to go into either consulting (poor work life balance, accelerated learning, lots of travel) , financial services/IB (poor work life balance) & tech (product management - good work life balance, compensation). As someone considering an MBA in his early 30s (located in Canada) & researching possible post MBA outcomes, would love to share a video suggestion on post MBA roles (all the juicy insights - like work life balance, compensation, growth, etc).

Sorry for getting back so late on this! Our team has been extremely busy over Round 1 (and with someone off on honeymoon!) - our best video for this is might be kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hbqGqJppx6iugoU.html which talks about those topics from a consultant lens (consultancy is, in our and many others' opinion, the best way to maximise future earning potential, but you're right that they tend to work you VERY HARD.) There's also a general video here, though that will retread some of your research kzfaq.info/get/bejne/prGKlbpltMyrc2w.html But we have A LOT of data on this outside our videos: careerprotocol.com/best-mba-program-for-your-career/ There's also a video on MBAs in Canada coming out in just over a week!

My Google app cards suggested your channel this week. I hold an MBA from 2017. I'd say it was worth it then. It's worth it now. But as many of your other videos showcase, it depends on one's own goals and how they have previously positioned themselves. With the job market as it is right now (more jobs than qualified candidates), I think it's much easier to get your foot in the door somewhere you want, get trained up on their dime in that role (and maybe even take advantage of their tuition reimbursement program for your MBA), and see if an MBA is really needed. I know now that most of my roles out of MBA, I didn't need an MBA for, but the extra business training did help in pivoting into Marketing (my BA was in liberal arts). What I did get out of it was visibility into various different industries that I didn't know were possible like angel investing, startups, and how to ramp up organization growth.

The current situation in America is this, we have a lot of people with not much in the way of motivation and descipline being highly intelligent OR over reliant on internet for most things. This leaves two problems. They have no idea the characteristics of a good leader so they follow flashy things and people with shallow promises, and them being highly effectient stumbling blocks for American businesses. People of lots of opinion and great observation, but lack the ability to bring it to real life as they fail to calculate the human component. What degree if ANY will help in this? Our military is literally cracking because of such items.

You're describing what from your perspective are systemic issues. Degrees can't help "them." The question is: what impact do YOU want to have and will any degree help YOU do that better? Do you know what positive impact you'd like to have on the world?

Do you have any insight into whether an engineer should pursue an MBA versus an Masters of Engineering Management (MEM). I know a few aspiring engineers who are unsure of this. Also, the amount of information out there comparing and contrasting the two degrees is SPARSE.
@CareerProtocol
@CareerProtocol Жыл бұрын
Hi Joseph! Thanks for your patience. Thought I had already replied to this. The answer is, it really really depends. The difference between the two is less in the content of what you learn (though the difference is likely vast) and more in the opportunities each degree positions you for. an MEM (I am guessing, though this is not my expertise) will position you to lead in the narrow context of engineering projects at firms that are doing the kind of engineering you are qualified to supervise. I would not expect you to be able to transition from, say, structural engineering to project managing at an electrical engineering firm (though perhaps I am wrong there!!!). But whether or not you can change branches of engineering, I would assume that after an MEM, you would still end up in a position managing engineering projects with other engineers. If that is correct, then the opportunities following an MEM will be significantly more constrained than the opportunities open to you after an MBA, especially if you go to a top school. So it just depends what you really want to do. Are you already an engineer, love it, and want to commit to that field long term? Then the MEM might be right for you. Do you want to leave engineering behind and engage in different disciplines and business functions? then the MBA might the right call. Hope this helps!!

What Type Of Education Do You Recommend For Inspiring Entrepreneurs?
@CareerProtocol
@CareerProtocol Жыл бұрын
We talk about this a lot on the channel! (Our next video is on it!) But until then, it depends what kind of entrepreneur you want to be. Most "on the ground" entrepreneurs don't have or need an MBA - they just need experience and a bit of knowledge (we recommend the 1 Page Marketing Plan by Alan Gibb). If you instead want to be building a team and working on the venture capital level, an MBA is extremely useful and might be the only way you'll ever meet the right contacts. Hope that helps!

I am from India, I have computer science degree form a tier 1 university with 3 years experience in xxx hatcharies pvt ltd which is small and local company in my city in india. I am manager there and carry out a responsible job where I supervise and perform day to day operations and supply chain management . With a competant gmat score could i get into top tier mba programs in usa ? Or should i shift to role of software engineer and apply to mba in usa after working there for 2 years?

Hi Krishna! This isn't enough information to give you solid advice. Please give mbamo.com a try. He's our MBA odds calculating robot. You can try it with both your current statistics and your expected future statistics and see what looks better. Our general advice though is to do what you are most excited about in your career and worry about what business schools will think ONLY when you decide to apply. If you want to apply now, then do it. If there is another role you genuinely want to do, then take it and worry about the MBA later. Good luck!
