It’s best to go first thing in the morning before it’s too hot

Animal Kingdom is my favorite park! The animals make it so special, I love just being there. The food is pretty awesome too, I just wish they still did kite tails!

I've heard they offer a nighttime tour complete with night vision goggles. Supposedly, that's the time your most likely to see the animals in the hotter months, as they come out when it's cooler. Added bonus, it'll be like a wild, albeit toned-down, version of Ghost in the Graveyard. ;)

You have to do the safari FIRST thing in the morning, like as soon as the park opens. It's when the animals are first let out in the morning (they sleep in "backstage" enclosures where the keepers can look everybody over at the end of the day to make sure they are all healthy) and when they are hungry after the long rest. Feeders are kept where you can see the animals on the route. Most of these animals are diurnal, so they are going to be most active at dusk and at first light. Middle of the day they are going to be resting.

Not sure if it's still there, but I LOVE Festival of the Lion King!!!! For the safari, the key is as soon as you get in the park, book it to Africa. Get a cinnamon roll from the bakery nearby and eat it while in line for the safari. *previous cast member here 😘 Downtown Disney is fun to go after Animal Kingdom closes. There's a restaurant in the top of the Contemporary Resort that has the best indoor viewing of the Magic Kingdom firework show. It's been 22 years since I've been, but for two and a half years...I played in the parks constantly! I hope they still have all of those things.

I went for first and only time in April 2017, safari was fine then, but ya I bet there's not so many out and about during the summer months. Didn't get to do avatar stuff though as it wasn't there yet. I think my kids fave part about animal kingdom was doc mcstuffins, as they had similar shoes on and we got the cutest reaction photo from kid and character.

Imagine seeing Jurassic Park the first week by yourself. Then, the next week watching with family. I had to sit behind them bc the theater was so packed. LMAO, scared them every jump scene I remembered. 😆🤣

Animal Kingdom is our ‘rest day’ park. Always planned for the middle of our stay since its hours are shorter.

We went to Disney every year for 2 weeks during Easter from the time I was 6 until i was 14 yrs old. It's a Small World was my fave, then as I got older Space Mountain and the teacups. We'd go to Gatorland, and a place called Wet n' Wild water park, Cocoa Beach, and went to Cape Canaveral. My parents would go to Gulfstream racetrack and leave us under 18 in the car😂😂 Great memories ❤ Last time I was there Epcot had been open for just a couple years and they were still building "countries", but I don't remember much about that place. I going to Disney World in September and I can't wait. I haven't been to Disney since I was 17 yrs old and I haven't even been to Animal Kingdom yet because it wasn't finished being been built yet I can't help be excited. Countdown to Vacation 😊

The Avatar ride is amazing worth the wait

I love this park, they had one of the rides I love, don't know if it's still there or not, but it was the Dinosaur time travel one. Not for those with bad backs/necks

I love the Pandora area of Animal Kingdom. It's best to go early in the morning to see the animals. It's not too hot yet.

We always go to the park in late Sept. It’s cooler & the bugs are better. We also go see the animals early in the morning bc of the heat.

The kilamanjara safari is best either right after opening OR dusk/ just before the ride closes for the day. If it's actually cold then midday os the ticket, that's my mother's favorite thing and we typically see +30 animals.... easily SANTULI canteen is a nice meal option...

God how I'd love to go full Disney for a week. It's been so long...

For me, the best part of Animal Kingdom is the Yak and Yeti restaurant. The Ahi-tuna nachos are the best and I have not been able to find anyplace outside of that park that compares.

I used to work at my local zoo. The animals usually sleep during the heat of the day. Night or off season is better to see them as they are out more and more active. Most animals can't handle over 90 and will need to find shade.

I've never been to Animal Kingdom. Last time I was at Disney was prior to its opening.

I would LOVE to see Animal Kingdom. Growing up in Omaha NE, I have extremely high expectations of any animal park (San Diego is shite to us). It's the only one I really want to see as I've seen MK and Epcot and Pleasure Island.

We did the safari after it rained for an hour. All the animals were happy and out to be seen.

Once upon a time family was down there every year. Since getting older, it was about once every five years. Now, never going back. HIGHLY over priced, experience is a giant mob of people and waiting in line for HOURS.

That kinda happened at the living desert last year. Way to hot for the animals to make an appearance.

Waited all my childhood to go to Disney world. Finally when I was 18 I got to go....it rained on us which shocked us because it was summer but it felt like an out door shower! most rides were closed or we'd be in line 45 min to an hr in n it would close dwn...hope u have a better time. I can barely handle Disneyland n their prices.. cant imagine going back to Florida 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️!!!

Here’s the deal: 1) Avatar is the BEST RIDE IN ALL OF DISNEY!!! Absolutely incredible. 2) Everest is fun and always a short line. 3) Do the safari when it is raining. Sounds wrong but the animals go crazy in the rain. All out and running. We had two rhinos race the car last time we went. They call it the “Rain Zoomies”. 4) Animal Kingdom is a half day park. I recommend not getting genie, buying the individual pass for avatar and make that your 2nd or 3rd park of the trip so you get a nice rest day to recover.

Best time to ride Kilimanjaro is right after it rains, all the animals come out. Only real benefit to the usual afternoon storm.

The avatar ride is fun, but not our favorite park either. For some reason, this feels like the hottest park no matter what the day/weather! Love Epcot and MK the best!!!

Safari ride is great first thing in the morning or last in the evening. Ride dinosaur as it will close soon. Dine at Rain Forest too.

You have to do Kilimanjaro Safari in the morning, as close to feeding time as possible. The animals are sleeping and hiding in the cool shade later in the day. When I went last month the jeep in front of us got stopped by a giraffe. When the driver radioed that she had a half tank of gas left they sent out two snack trucks to bribe him off the path, all the giraffes came to us it was the coolest thing. My son could have touched them they were less than a foot away.

I went the end of November. There were a bunch of animals out.

I did Disney Land in the early 80s and Disney World in the early 90s (one trip to each). For me, it was fun once, but not something I wanted to do again...

Disney in July… in Florida? Not me. Not anymore… Its just too hot. 😂 I will say those “ cooling wet towels” work pretty well. I never go to Florida without them.

Love AK but EPCOT is my favorite. The safari in the morning or just before close are the best time for animals. Haven’t been in Avatar yet, I’m not the best on virtual rides, but rode Guardians 2x in one day. If you get “September” while riding it’s the best and beats Expediton Everest (sorry Yeti we still love you tho)

I've refused to visit Animal Kingdom from the very beginning when they chose to not include the third part of the park "The land of Fantasy" sure they left the Dragon on the sign, but we never got the land or the ability to see up close a full size dragon like originally promised.

In all the times I've been to Disney, I have never set foot inside Animal Kingdom. I can't offer an opinion on it. However, I hope your family has the best time!!

Honestly I didn’t understand how anyone would voluntarily go outside in the summer in Florida. I lived there for 14 years and I only return during the winter months.

As a GenX kid we went in February. Winter coats, rain and not tall enough for most of the rides. Now it seems like it would be too stressful.😢

Animal Kingdom is the perfect Day 3 park. Take a safari and chill out. Check out the animals and chill out. Watch the Lion King and chill out. Get awesome food and chill out. Come back to the hotel earlier and get some extra zzz's. Then be ready to go back at full speed Day 4.
