The whole is consciousness..the states are what come n go . The whole is infinite eternal n changeless.

I don't know that you could say this is particularly new for me, but I feel as though I now have vocabulary to describe it. Using Rupert's paradigm, I have come to realize that there are many, many occasions when I am what you would call deeply asleep, but it oftentimes is suffused with engagement. For example I can go from the dream that I'm having to the gradual awareness that it is a dream, to the active participation in that dream, followed by gentle arrival to wakefulness. That period of time passes with letting go of resistance-- such as it is more or less-- until I return to sleep. Rinse and repeat.🤪

True. The 'deep sleep' is the actual/real deal.. It is always in the background.. Nisargadatta and Bhagavan Ramana had mentioned this a few times - albeit rather sparingly, lest they are misunderstood. Another living Jnani (who seems to be in this 'deep sleep' but articulates it beautifully and succinctly in his native language (Telugu) is Sri Subrahamanyam - who lives in a small town in Andhra Pradesh in South of India. He has been saying this for the last 30 years.

Yes and no! In the waking state I am conscious of the world and of those thoughts and perceptions and I can be aware that I am aware. In deep sleep I am not. I am not even conscious that I am not conscious of them! For me, deep sleep is not the same as simply experiencing being, That I can do, I am aware that I am aware and conscious of everything around me or at least how I perceive it. In deep sleep I am not aware. If that state represents what we will be when we die, then I would call it death! Actually, I have often thought that light and sound are things and that if we rest in "no-thing" as pure spirit when we die, then we will be in pure silence and total darkness! The nearest thing I can equate to that here on earth is solitary confinement!

Rupert has explained this beautifully in a previous video - "Understanding the fourth state of Consciousness" dt 1st October 2023 - with the same analogy of colored circle. A living Jnani Athyasrami Sri Subrahamanyam from South of India (in a small town called Srikalahasti in Andhra Pradesh) also explains this beautifully - that deep sleep is not a separate state and is referred to as such only relative to other states.

1. Consciousness being changeless cannot/does not go through "states" 2. "States" "rise and fall" in consciousness, never ever separate from nor made of anything but consciousness. 3. A world does not give rise to states, but a "state" (borrowing its existence, reality and substance from consciousness) gives rise to 'me' and its invariable concomitant- the 'world'. Every state (and its contents) is A COMPLETE AND INDEPENDENT EXPRESSION OF THAT LONE INDIVISIBLE PRINCIPLE OF REALITY/CONSCIOUSNESS (also known as " I ").

@Green-Dragon206 1. Your statement: Consciousness is always changing. My Question: 1. What is consciousness changing into? 2. Assuming that consciousness is changing, what principle "certifies" that consciousness is changing? 2. Your statement: Consciousness is the experience of existence, your existence. My question: Are consciousness and existence 2 separate independent principles? 3. For now, I will not go into "your (my) existence.
@ravindramurthy3486
@ravindramurthy3486 Ай бұрын
@Green-Dragon206 Something that is changing, cannot witness the change in itself. I agree that experiences are changing - but not the witness which is none other than consciousness. If consciousness also "changed", there is no way of detecting or asserting that a change has occurred. Consciousness is the "eternal bridge" so to speak, to "certify" change. Furthermore, change requires a basis in time. Consciousness is not in time; "time" is a mere thought in consciousness and consciousness is "prior" to thought.

@Green-Dragon206 I do not "experience" consciousness. I am Consciousness in which all "experiences" rise and die. There is never a question of acceptance or non-acceptance of Consciousness; that is the fundamental absolute TRUTH which no one can cast off. That is why I said we are not on the same page. Now, I have to add, we are not even speaking the same language.
@ravindramurthy3486
@ravindramurthy3486 Ай бұрын
@Green-Dragon206 Consciousness is the Eternal Subject, so to speak. It is never in the "objective' realm to say that it has been 'experienced'. As I have stated, unless we "understand" each other how these words are being used, we will be going in circles, engaging in a futile exercise. I have no interest in engaging in this futile exercise. You are entitled to your views; all the best to you. Thank you.

@@Virajsingh888 I think it's also harder to remember being purely in deep sleep, because there are none of the activities of mind for the memory to latch onto. That can make it feel retrospectively as though there was a period of nothingness, which is not the case.

But how do we know that it is not the case? To me, that lead to the realization that i'am no(-)thing. Or absence, and absence percieves in the waking state.

What happens in the waking state and the dream state is due to the appearance of the individual consciousness “I” of the seer. If the seer is not present, like when one sleeps, what is seen is not there either. In deep sleep , there is neither the seer nor the seen. Do you have any problems when you sleep? If you accept the answer, then your search ends right here. There is only suffering in the waking and in the dream state. In deep sleep, one is not there either. So who could have things happen to oneself like suffering, enjoyment, seeing or not seeing, feeling or not feeling? Do you ever wonder what you are in deep sleep? What do you see that you are in deep sleep? Only your own answer will end your quest for whatever you seek, as well as end “you” yourself. -Pedro Rodea, "The State without State: The non-wisdom of a non-sage".
@lampy4485
@lampy4485 Ай бұрын
I don’t remember deep sleep because as you say, there is no seer and therefore nothing to be seen. Is this what happens when our bodies die? In what capacity, if at all, do we experience the state known as “dead”?
@ultrafeel-tv

But we are aware of deep sleep (otherwise we would just be awake and sometimes dreaming; but we know there is some third state, namely sleep). So there is still a subject-object relationship in deep sleep - meaning there is still duality. So deep sleep can't be the 'ultimate' (advaita - nonduality).

Hi Karlien, That's a prefectly understandable reaction! Yet... Even though western science still doesnt have a clue as to what they termed deep sleep actually is, why we do it & what makes it crucial to pychological & physical health & stability & life... we've been indoctrinated into that view that it is a near comatose state. Yet according to others who have accesded that state will in deep trance states, science's concept is a misunderstanding. Yet our immediately reaction is to dismiss it (as nonsense even). Yet deep spiritual & religious traditions have held the same view Rupert is exposing, that what we term deep sleep is not a state of unconsciousness, but Pure Awareness. The (gnostic) Gospel of Thomas points to it or rather reports Jeshua as doing so. I think it's in G of John also "Some of you will know Heaven before you leave your body". Mystics from around the world have experienced (what we named deep sleep) as being Pure Consciousness & point to it as such in their teachings. This is/was part of advanced spiritual practices & beliefs within Buddhism, Sufism & Hinduism, the Maori, A Aboriginals, Kogi, Hopi, Hottentot etc, as well as ancient Greeks, Egyptians & others. In different cultures & times, they've (of course) called it different names; to Hindi it is Brahma's Cave, to Buddhists it is Sammadi, to Aboriginals, it is the Before Time, to ancient Egyptians it was Zep Tepe. Hope this helps Karlien, Tana Karen

@@tanakaren1822 Thanks Karen...have been studying these things for 30 years but I appreciate your reply 🙏 The underlying points more towards turiya and beyond....deep sleep is not pure consciousness. Sushupti is dreamless sleep... Gonna delve deeper in this because there seems to be a subtle difference in quality to turiya. Rupert only phrases things he has lezrned also. It are not his teachings...I never forget that 😉

Ah yes, thanks, a good reminder that we are all learning & awakening is a process, even if were 1/million, we'd still need to intergrate, learn & keep expanding endlessly. BTW, Just a bit ago, I remembered that in some schools of Buddism, they hold that Awareness is a Fourth State. So there ya go, differences in the lineages experiences & interptetation.

Rainbow picture our Over-consciousness, as hold the Under-Consciousness = Day-consciousness and Night-Consciousness, Instinct, Gravity, Feeling, Intelligence, Intuition, Memory. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo. Our physical body, is a Gravity-Body, Deep-Sleep, is our Night-Bodies, REM, is our Coupling-Body. All night-experience is via Coupling-body, dreams, messages, warnings, visits, OBE, NDE, Coma. We move our Day-consciousness, first to the Feeling-body, and wake up, from the Instinct-Body. Our Day-consciousness is in the Night- Bodies, one by one, but We dont remember anything. Our physical body, is where our Development is Primare, the Night-Bodies, is eiter too young, and too old, and our experience there is somehow limited, they is going in minimum/maximum-circuit. Our physical body, holds a Organ-Circuit, as respectivly correspond with the Day/Night-body Circuit, maintenance, hormons. So, Day-Consciousness is in the Night-Bodies, but the 'Doors is Closed'.

*"Consciousness" is just "The LINK" between "AWARENESS" and the brain ( having other functions as well ) is an "Interface"...* *When one is said to be unconscious, often the bodily functions can continue... If "AWARENESS" did NOT first exist, you would be "AWARE" of Consciousness...* *There isn't a single part of the human anatomy that is "AWARE" of anything... Only "AWARENESS" can be "AWARE" of anything...*
