Did you guys watch the 4th test commentary in Ranchi? England had lost a quick 2 wickets and Sanjay Manjrekar, Ravi Shastri and Nick Knight were the commentators. Sanjay, literally for the third time in the day, tried asking the same question about the "approach" that the English batsmen would take now that 2 quick wickets have fallen. Nick Knight had enough and said "I think we have talked about this enough, it's better we watch the cricket that's happening in front of us for a while". As if this wasn't cringeworthy enough, Sanjay turned the question to Ravi, who gave the typical "Bazball is shit" answer. Honestly, it's just better watching cricket without Indian commentary these days. Growing up listening to Benaud, Cozier, Bill Lawry, Tony Greig, Gavaskar, Ian Bishop etc, it reallly hurts to see how cricket commentary has changed for the worse.

Glad to see this issue being addressed. There are so many awful Indian commentators currently and it's much more peaceful to watch the game on mute than listen to their horrible so called "analysis". Harsha Bhogle, the "voice of Indian cricket" has become a constant yapper and shows clear favouritism and bias. Few names that need to be thrown out of the comm box: Murali Karthik, Anjum Chopra, Sanjay Manjarekar, Harsha Bhogle, Kevin Pietersen Add more names to the list guys :D

Thank You Guys , Finally someone addressed this . I have been watching Cricket since 1999 cricket world cup and I have never seen Indian Cricket Commentary stoop so low and be so redundant . We hardly have Good sensible commentators now , who have the capability to make the game look exciting or adds entertainment value . With Due Respect how do test cricket players like Sunil Gavaskar , Sanjay Manjarekar or Murli Karthik do commentary in T20 Games ? They make T20 games extremely dull .. Hindi Commentary with people like Sehwag,RP Singh , Irfan pathan are setting the bar even lower . Indian Commentators nowadays have a disease , that makes them gloat over Indian Batsman and Bowlers to make them look that only India players are Cricket players, rest are dumb . I use to love commentary of Tony Greig and Navjot Singh Sidhu, now I watch cricket on mute at times . Look at commentary in big Bash , its fun and entertaining . BCCI with All the money should look at the demise of Commentators , else soon time will come when people will abuse them . We need Great Indian Commentators which unfortunately I do not find any in India .

He believes he understands more techniques than DK, who has played every version of the game at its highest level. ....... It's great to know that a cricket fan watching a match on television can read a delivery or comprehend a technique better than someone who has actually played with and against him.......

I understand the need to improve the quality from indian commbox but I completely disagree that the quality of current commentators are not as good as their predecessor. Just few instances here and there out of 5 days of cricket stories and abundance of info don't make whole commentary bad.

The fact is they are just annoying and repeating over and over again. i tried to listen to commentary for this series and just ended up hating sanjay manjarekar They should at first remove their biases to start with

If you think commentary in Indian international matches is bad, watch women's cricket. If you think commentary in women's cricket is bad, watch domestics cricket.

Manjrekar shouldn’t be anywhere near a cricket commentary box, he’s just not made for it. His continuous yakking in the box ( can’t even shut his mouth for a moment) completely distracts the viewer watching the cricket. For years been muting the TV when he’s on air. He’s literally insufferable. As for Bazball one should follow the English media’s fixation on this so called concept of the English cricket think tank. Reading the articles in the Guardian newspaper and the follow up comments of their readers one would know the extent to which this stupid idea has seeped into the English cricket fan mind. Many of them actually believe it’s a science . Compared to this the writers and commentators of other nations discuss Bazball only to ridicule it.

Terrible commentary Murali kartik in the last test was like how in his opinion Ben stokes was batting well although he hasn't got big scores but whoever has seen him bat this series can say he was getting bowled often and was horrible in reading the length. But Murali kartik in his wisdom thought Stokes was batting well. This instance really showed how bad a cricket pandit he is and the overall quality of the commentary we are being fed with.

You must watch channel 9 cricket as to how they rip apart "Bazball", they make a mockery of it only difference being the Aussie are bully by default and the choice of words or slang cracks you up. Dont forget, bazz ball is just not about Baz and his squad, it's the nonsense which English media , ex cricketers and their fans carry all the time. Just listen to KP in the com box, so persuading and irritating. As far as Sanjay goes, he has played the game at top level and his observations are good may be overboard sometimes but then. You can't expect them to be like Lawry, Benaud or Chappell...no one is.
