Yes, but I need to know what the texture of the vacuumed watermelon is now. You should've tried that too! 👀

@@alexaecho4273 No but it could taste more concentrated, at least that's probably what they were thinking ? (personnally I don't think it does it just impacted the color and maybe the texture a bit, also the vacuum pulled air out of the watermelon not water. 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡)

This video I was hoping would answer the question - do we need to blanch fresh vegetables before freezing? Why or why not?
@Neoprototype

Depends on the vegetable. For example green beans do fine, they way you can use them straight out of the freezer. Same with carrots, corn, peas &c.

I thought the blanching was necessary to stop the “growing” process. So what is the answer to this question?
@joycej9415
@joycej9415 11 күн бұрын
Yes, it is necessary if they will be frozen for a few . I slice squash and pop in freezer to use in a couple of weeks and they cook up fine. If I have a lot from the garden, I always blanching for long term storage. Blanching stops the enzymes that cause food to ruin in the freezer.

I just saw this video and blanching seemed to be a failure on last years runner beans that were then put into freezer bags and frozen. Sadly this video neither asked or answered anything about the flavor.! I care a whole lot less about what my food looks like than what it tastes like, I know of no-one who has the opposite view.! It was suggested to me that blanching the runner beans, letting them cool, bagging and freezing them would give a better outcome than simply freezing them, there seemed to be no real difference, if anything the blanched ones had lost a little flavor compared to those that were simply frozen, although this is not so easy to be sure about as they came off a variety of plants in various quantities and were picked and frozen at different times. Is this a pointless endeavor, it seems to be, or did I not do something right.?

My takeaway is, that if you blanch the fruit or vegetable, its color will be vibrant. It isn't my goal. Does it taste better, would have interested me.

Q: is blanching necessary? A: Yes, if you want to soften and/or make the colour of vegetables more vibrant
@ADB-zf5zr
@ADB-zf5zr 27 күн бұрын
But for what real purpose.? Blanching for 15-seconds is a long way from cooking, so softer, but barely, and then what, allow to cool and eat "almost raw".? If so, fine, or is there another purpose I am not aware of that you may be hinting about.? I have a comment here about doing this with last years runner beans before freezing them, it seemed to make no difference at all to the end product compared to those that were simply frozen, and neither of the frozen ones were as nice as those eaten (and boiled) fresh, as everyone would expect.

Drab to dreamy for the green stuff, but that watermelon is much more aesthetically pleasing and pretty is it naturally is 🤷‍♂️ beautifully pink and marbled unlike the weird wet, red, and gelatinized look of the other

Kind of a disappointing video from Dan. This is more in line with what you'd find from ATK's KZfaq channel, however. Dan's 'What's Eating Dan' series on the Cook's Illustrated channel is much more informative, in depth, and funny (worth watching).
