Simply cloth is still using blender's cloth solver algorithms which quite frankly is very bad. Blender cloth simulation is far from ready for production. Its the only thing about blender that I believe they need to focus on getting right. All these other features they are working on pale in comparison. This is why we are moving our rendering pipeline to Unreal Engine. Every production uses cloth now adays. Even those cheaper You tube productions. We spent months trying to get good cloth bakes in blender and in the end it still turned out mediocre. If we had only had used maya this would not have been the case. Sometimes tyring to save money looses you more money. With hundreds of shots that need cloth, importing and exporting characters from marvelous designer for every shot is not possible. Having good cloth sim capability inside your DCC of choice is paramount. This is one of the reasons Maya is better than blender. We will continue to use blender for animation and modeling only. Everything else will be done in Unreal Engine going forward.

I never buy cloth add-ons because none of them replace the cloth solver. Simply Cloth, using the base Blender cloth solver, is therefore marred by the same limitations. Not to mention the last several times I tried to use Blender for cloth, the sewing feature left huge gaps. It's basically broken. Since this add-on just implements the base sewing functionality, I expect it'd be money down the drain.

If your problem is with blendercloth physics then so be it, there are problems. But simply cloth is worth it for the steps I can skip vs doing it all manually. It’s just more concise/organized/user friendly.

There's something called ""working around the problem". Like, you may get some gaps but if you can smooth them out later with a paint tool it's not the end of the world. I'm not claiming it's perfect, but "workable" can be an improvement as well.

You are perfectly right. Unless they don't create an addon that doesn't use the same tool of Blender, all are useless

That's exactly my issue as well and the same applies to hair simulation. Yes, it can help you create great looking clothes on a t-pose model and no doubt do it faster then base Blender, but then it will all fall apart the moment one tries to do the actual simulation on a full animated character. Unlike say liquid simulation, where something like Flip Fluids is a complete replacement, when it comes to cloth and hair addons for Blender, no one wants to go that extra step and basically create a Marvelous Designer replacement within Blender. Simply Cloth seems to to do all the steps leading up just as well, but then stops short of finishing the job and adding a robust solver as well. As such, we continue to wait for full geometry nodes simulation to be done, which I suspect for cloth and hair could still be another year+ away.

For some reason, this video doesn't mention the "Modeling Cloth" addon, which (unlike Simply Cloth) does come with its own solver. It works better than Blender's in my experience, and unlike Simply Cloth, it's available for free. However, as indicated by its name, I don't think it supports animations.

I just hope that someone in the community have the god power to fix that damn physic solver for cloth and smoke/fluid, because it's god damn slow when you have larger mesh and simply cloth doesn't fix the source issue why no one is actually using it.
