Also, don’t forget the detail where Mario took a lot of abuse throughout the film, especially fighting donkey Kong, and came out only dazed. While, a few swipes from Bowser got him bruised and scratched to the point where he almost gave up. This, I think, was intentional to emphasise how formidable Bowser truly is.

Currently yes he is. He has no redeeming qualities. In fact let’s take a look at Bowser’s redeeming qualities in the games and how Illumination’s Bowser lacks them Respect for Mario: nope, he mocks Mario and calls him a weak little nothing. This shows that he sees Mario as nothing more than a pest. Loves Peach: nope, this version only sees her as an object to own, and when Peach refuses to marry him, HE TRIED TO KILL HER. Cares for his kids whether they be adopted or biological: nope, his kids are nowhere to be seen. Is a benevolent ruler towards his minions: nope, he abuses them and has even tried to kill a few of them. Minor standards: nope, he has no honor and he tried to destroy the mushroom kingdom out of spite. Comedy: this is his only mitigating factor and even then it’s minor given how dark his actions are and he’s the darkest villain Illumination has to offer. As for strength, we see him throwing boulders around, flipping cars, and he destroyed a castle with one flame blast.

I'd argue Scarlet Overkill is more sympathetic than Bowser because of her relationship with Herb being pretty healthy and before the misunderstanding she was actually really nice with the minions at first, Especially Bob helping him down the stairs and even reading the trio a story/accepted the formers toy crown present. Bowser was cruel 24/7 when he had no reason to. Dorky song/Puns aside he's a Sadist willing to do blackmail and corrce someone who wasn't interested in him for the sake of living a petty fantasy no matter who he would have hurt. Scarlet actually seems like she'd try to be a good queen.

Honorable mention: The Vicious 6 (Minions Rise Of Gru) With the Zodiac Stone in their clutches, they can easily hold their own against Bowser. Plus, any team of villains who is willing to betray on of their on members, Wild Knuckles in this case, has got to count for something.

Movie Bowser is perhaps the most evil he's ever been: Besides taking the penguins prisoner, even though he doesn’t need to, and torturing Luigi, he reduces a Koopa to Dry Bones with his fire breath when he questions his plans. He squashes loyal Kamek's fingers with the piano's fallboard after he gets upset at reports regarding Mario, later has Kamek torture Toad until Peach agrees to marry him, and becomes murderously furious whenever he assumes that Mario and Peach are becoming closer. And perhaps Bowser's three biggest acts of evil in the film: He tries to sacrifice all prisoners into a pool of lava, Luigi and Cranky Kong included, during the wedding; fires a Banzai Bill, basically a nuke, at the Mushroom Kingdom when things go south for him; and most appalling of all, HE ACTUALLY ATTEMPTS TO HARM/KILL PEACH with his fire breath once she fights back in the middle of the wedding.

Probably the darkest villain in any illumination animation. He destroys the ice kingdom just so he could take the star presumably to take it's power and become invincible. After his Dry Bones fail to capture Luigi Lugi is captured by his Shy Guys and Snifits. He then tortures Luigi pulling his mustache to force him to tell him of Mario's whereabouts then throws him in a cage over a lava pit. Bowser's love for Peach is not genuine love. If anything he just wants to rule the world with her as a symbol of his own power. Bowser regularly abuses his minions including his own caretaker Kamek out of the excuse that pain is the best way to build strength. Though he does it obviously for his own amusement. He again shows blatant disrespect during his speech to his army not even recognizing his own Spinies and burning a Koopa's skin clean off for simply asking what will happen if Peach says no. He says he will destroy the kingdom if she rejects him. Orders General Koopa and his forces to destroy the rainbow bridge to his castle then captures Cranky and the other Kongs minus Donkey Kong to trap them in the lava pit. Forces Peach into marriage then tries to kill her when she declines. Shows no remorse for General Koopa's demise nor honors his sacrifice. Attempts to sacrifice Cranky, Luigi, the Penguin King, and Lumalee to the lava pits. Bowser again shows no remorse nor sadness when King Bob-omb is killed by Peach. Bowser orders the kingdom nuked by launching a Banzai Bill at it when his plans are falling apart. After arriving on earth Bowser brutally beats Mario within an inch of his life then tries to take the Star for himself. Sends his minions to his doom despite knowing full well that they probably don't stand a chance against the power of the star that Mario and Luigi possess. When defeated pleads Peach for a chance even though he's attempted to kill her and the kingdom's inhabitants before being fed a Mini Mushroom and trapped. Overall compared to other Illumination villains despite some comedic traits this is by far the most evil one. There is no reason nor motive behind his goals. He just wants to take over the world. He doesn't care really about anyone.

Great video :-). I love how uou analyzed Bowser's power and morality scale compared to other over the top villains that came from Illumination. He's indeed awesome and powerful, and quite evil too. He's even worse than Scarlett Overkill, because her motive is a bit stronger. Her lust for power is partly traceable to being stepped on and overlooked as a woman at the time. People once thought women can't be effective supervillains, which is chauvinistic. Women can be superheroes/supervillains just fine, and Scarlett wanted to prove it, even if in a terrible and unsympathetic way. Bowser is a bit more petty than that. His lust for power comes from believing that being a giant Tarasque (the proper name for dragon-turtle-whatever hybrid) means he should always have everything and anything he wants, from ruling an empire to having a warrior princess. He's still less repulsive than Sergei the animal abuser though. Bowser is more evil, and Sergei is more repulsive. And while we're at it, is there a chance you'll do a video about the most sympathetic villain of any franchise/studio?

I just saw this movie a few days ago and I have to say I really love it, despite never seriously playing any Mario games! (spoilers ahead) I feel like he's definitely the most and powerful Illumination villain from the movies I've seen. While he's seemingly "doing it for love", clearly Peach wants no part of it and he turned from "I love you" to "I'll make you pay" when she tricks him during the wedding. Other movies had villains like Gru (who was redeemed), Snowball (again redeemed), and then Jimmy (who definitely seems like the closest regarding at least evilness) and Scarlet (power seems like her real trait, but has her own evil desires). But compared to Bowser, yeah, they don't seem NEAR as powerful, nor evil, especially considering how much power Bowser has by default, along with his actual actions - not just threatening, but even acting on them (whether or not it's just an attempt doesn't matter here). However, when it gets down to it, I feel like Bowser is - if not the most - one of the most evil and powerful villains from Illumination. And that's without my bias speaking, because I actually liked the Mario Bros movie more than I've liked any other movies from here (especially more than the Dispicable Me/Minions franchise!). :P

I feel Scarlet could go toe to toe and even win against bowser due to her large army of villains who could take out MANY koopas and goombas kamek would be a quick take out due to the strength of the villains, and such especially with her size machine and INSANE weapons and her near invincible dress which would save her from the bullet bill and her weapons would destroy prob the majority of the army and herbs inventions would bring her to the dub.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic villains evil to most evil (Including Opaline from Make Your Mark) The reason why i said Opaline is because G5 hasn't developed as much as we thought and they say it's in the same world even if it doesn't look like it... It would feel wrong to leave her out, but let's see how powerful she is after she gets her power back.

Looking back, they really downplayed Bowser’s evilness in the movie in this video didn’t they? He’s EASILY the most evil Illumination villain. I feel like WickedBinge might be biased towards Bowser and give him a free pass for things that they would’ve called other villains “pure evil” for doing as well. Doesn’t help that they say that they HOPE that he shows some more good in the sequel which just shows that they’re clearly biased and don’t want to rank Bowser any higher on the evil ranking because they’re Bowser apologists.

You guys forgot about the vicious 6 from minions 2 the rise of gru and if browser was this much evil and powerful i can't wait to see what villains come out in future illumination entertainment movies and also going back to the non-evil illumination entertainment villains thank goodness snowball from the secret life of pets franchise was not in the video because like I said before yeah he was evil in his first movie but after he got adopted by Molly he got redeemed and became nicer and became friends with max Duke and all of the other pets in the sequel especially when in the sequel he became more heroic and he decided to help daisy free the white tiger cub from the evil circus owner sergei and i also can't believe Nintendo and illumination entertainment are already planning on making a super Mario Brothers sequel and the first movie just came out this year.
