This is actually the keyboard you SHOULD buy as a budget performer. When I was saving for my korg krome ex, I borrowed this one for many of my shows. The tones are acceptable, the piano tone has the full bass that I was looking for on other previous version like WK7600. It's also easy to use. You can find 2ndhand for only $200 but I don't think someone would sell this perfect bang for the buck to you, so buying a new one is not a bad option

Jeremy I have been eyeing the CTX-3000 for about two months now. Going back and forth asking myself if it's worth it. I watched almost every review and demo there is on youtube. Yesterday I went to sleep asking the universe to give me a sign to finally get it. Then here you are literally when I woke up. I just placed my order. This will be my first keyboard. Thank you Jeremy.

Thanks for the info, for someone that has already purchased a used Yamaha keyboard and owned it for a couple of years now the one thing that immediately drew my attention in this review is that the Casio is not a full sized 88 key keyboard, and it may not make a difference to some people but it made a difference to me in my purchase decision of the Yamaha keyboard I purchased for the same price $300, because back when I was shopping for a keyboard, I looked at 61 key keyboards, (and even smaller), and full 88 key keyboards. Most people I talked to said 61 keys or more but the few piano teachers I spoke with said they'd prefer the student have a full 88 key keyboard to practice on, I know it's not in everyone's budget to get a full sized keyboard, but it's what I ended up getting, and for me it wasn't just about the piano sound and any "bells and whistles" that may be offered with a specific keyboard, it's also how the keyboard felt under my fingers when comparing it to a real acoustic piano, weighted keys, light to hard touch responsive, etc. So in the long run I looked at several different keyboards, did research, talked to the worship director and piano players at my church, and they in agreement about getting an 88 key keyboard as well. My preference is to learn on a full size 88 key keyboard, not on a shrunk down 61 key keyboard. Just throwing it out there if you ever do a comparison as it relates to a real acoustic piano.

Thanks for this. I studied piano decades ago and got back into it earlier this year. But I'm using my son's old M-AUDIO Keystation 61, and I feel like I'm fighting with the keys. Not to mention the limited 61 key span just feels weird. So yeah, would love to have a keyboard that doesn't sound OR feel awful.

Right now, Casio and Yamaha remind me of when I was a kid. My brother and I would get a baseball and play "burnout". Basically, it was a bare-handed game of catch where each of us would progressively throw the ball harder and harder, until one of us would give up because our hands would hurt too much. Casio and Yamaha seem to be throwing more features and better sound at each other. The difference is that Casio and Yamaha aren't going to give up.

Paraih you? hahaha! Not so. You are a far better reviewer than I am. I was telling Saul just yesterday that Yamaha is not tapping fully into a powerful opportunity by having you at the top of the list of reviewers.. (You ARE, when it comes to number of followers and the high regard they have for your insights .. including me). I have to admit, I can't wait to get my mitts on the PSR-EW310 ;) I will most likely buy one if it is significantly better. I have to send everything back after a review, but it's fun to try new things out. But you have great respect from Saul and others on the YM website. You are mentioned always in a positive light in the forum and your opinion is valued. We post your KZfaq videos on occasion. Like I said, you would be a valuable asset if Yamaha were to include you more. Your reviews are always honest .. but you are also a huge proponent of the PSR-E363 for your students, as well as other Yamaha offerings. You have brought them a lot of moola!! You are not disrespectful in your honest reviews, always mentioning pros and cons. Balance. Buyers want to know everything.

Thanks Jeremy, I love my CTX 5000 and never thought that it has functions from 1000 Dollar competitors, great. Also like the appearance with the metal grills, the "casio red" parts as also find on g shock watches and the model name "CTX" itself. It has nothing to do with the technical data I know but it is a part for me (others? ) if an Instrument fits in my life... There is one point I'ld ask you to mention, maybe in an extra Video, the accomp controlling : as my teacher, a fan of yamaha by the way, say that casio keyboards had an issue with delays in chord detection, i remember while practice sometimes no sound on the left hand. After a short check I realised, I had an incorrect fingering, so i touched e. g. One key more beside the 3 keys i needed. My conclusion is that casio had an very exact detection but i know yamaha is premium in that area. Have you had that issue ever? Also interesting that the accomp sound(base & strings) is not mentioned in the manual.... All our lessons at the time are based on that function to learn blind chord switching nevertheless i do also turn it of to here the full sound combination with the right hand.... Thanks therefore too. 👍

Hi Jeremy. I am fan of your reviews. Your reviews are simple, objective and up to the point which makes them very useful for us. I am planning to buy a keyboard for myself and my 12 year old son. I am planning to buy YAMAHA PSR EW300 or CASIO WK 6600 as these both have 76 keys. But I am confused as to which has better piano sound. Can you help me through it. Or you have any other suggestion for 76 key instrument. Let me tell you EW410 from yamaha is not available in India since sometime so it's out of question.

It is best if you can get hold of the EW410. It is much much better.

Thanks a lot for this introduction to Casio's CT-X3000 keyboard. I am actually thinking to get this soon as my Christmas present to me. :-) Fortunately, being here in Japan, the homeland of Casio, I can get some pretty good prices on the keyboard. I can get one as cheap as ¥ 28,000 (approx. 264 USD) at the moment through Amazon Japan. The only problem now is, being able to play good music on it. I did take accordion lessons way back earlier on in life when I was in high school. So the right hand I will be familiar with. The left hand though to create chords and coordinating two hands at the same time looks like a daunting challenge. With the accordion, chords can be accomplished simply by pressing a single button (CM, Cm, C7, Cd, etc.) But on a keyboard to have to press multiple keys with multiple fingers will be a challenge. I understand there are built-in chords that can generate chords for you by pressing a single key? Are their songs or music already built into this moel? I will buy this just as a hobby as well as to create my own BGM for personally created videos. Thanks again for your introduction. You seem to really know the keyboard environment well. Cheers. Jerry. Tokyo, Japan

hello jeremy. for playing only classical music, would you opt for this casio CTX 3000 (61 keys, with a pedal and stand as gift) at 400 USD (in my country) or opt for a pearl river V03 digital piano (console piano with a furniture, 88 keys, triple pedal sustain sostenuto and other) for 500 USD? i'm leaning towards the pearl river in my case since i don't need portability and other rythms that this casio has

Hi Jeremy, as a beginner I am looking for a budget but quality 88 key keyboard but with a pitch wheel with weighted or hammer action keys in the UK, could you recommend one please? Also would you recommend 88 keys vs only 61 keys for a beginner? I have found one called SDP4 for around £330 but not sure if it has high quality sounds. Thanks Jeremy :))

CTX series is soo feature packed . I wish it had better interface & slightly less complicated .Atleast now may be they can provide some usability firmware patches or some means to control it via computer & software

Yes. It is really a pity Casio couldn't make the user interface better and add a USB audio interface like E-Series.

Hello Jeremy, Excellent as always. Talking about Casio, the Privia Px560 is on the market since 2015 and is ''back order'' since several months. From your contact at Casio, do you think it will be on the market again or if we are due for an upgrade or a replacement. I will appreciate to have your opinion on that. Salutations. JP
