I'm also a man in his 40's who grew up on rock and metal 😂... Yeah Chinchilla is incredible, I get goosebumps, and the odd tear at every live track she does. I've introduced so many of my friends to her

Same. 80s rock, 90s grunge and metal, that's what I'm generally into. The difference for me is when you can feel there's real artistic merit to something. Most pop and rap I just find pointless. It's not written by the artist, it has no meaning. There's no reason for most of it beyond making money. Ren and Chinchilla are real artists in my opinion. You can feel the honesty in it, you can see the genuine creativity in what they do. I put these artists into their own category. They're popular and not metal, but they're genuine, like Florence, or Adele, or Winehouse.

Moving reaction to this incredible song and performance. Completely agree how something so stripped back can work as long as the performance is true. And I’m so grateful to artists like CHINCHILLA and Lolli Wren who can push art forward like this and be so inspirational. Also, I’m kinda obsessed with this string arrangement 😄 Re: the fly, a lot of CHINCHILLA’s Flytrap EP is directed at the music industry and her experiences of feeling stifled. She said in a recent interview “It’s about being controlled or possessed, and breaking out of that… My mum has an open-hand analogy: ‘When you hold something tightly, you kill it, and that’s what flytraps do’. I’ve had the concept for so long.”… “I’m dressed as a fly on the EP cover and standing in a hand to mirror possession and, I guess, a lack of freedom - it was a bit of a nod to feeling so tied down in 2022. I’d split with my management and label and felt like my wings were being clipped.” … “Sometimes you trap yourself too. I think for this song I wanted to mirror how personal and raw it was to me with a live performance video in that space.”

Oh yeah! That’s a perfect analogy. It’s funny how, for the most part the people who are record label types have no concept of how or why artists create art. They work superbly with “cash in” type performers, but horribly with true artist types. The whole business is designed to pull off their wings and pin them to a board.

True artists. Both of them. The thing im most grateful for in having this channel is discovering artists like these. I’m certain I would never have come across Ren or Chinchilla in the dark times before PrymalChaos. 😅 Funnily enough I actually learned the term prosody when I was chatting with another reactor called Julia Nilon. We were discussing a concept where I was going to document my personal journey of ‘getting my voice back’ (it’s suffered from years of health issues and neglect). I had sent her a recording of me singing a song by Kamelot (I believe it was Abandoned) and she used the term in describing the character of my vocal performance. I just looked it up, the comment was “LOTS of potential with that tone and you have a natural storytelling prosody in your delivery”.. I had to look it up 😂😂

@@ElleScamp wow! Yeah I just noticed that she hasn’t posted a video in about 6 months. Has she said anything? We used to DM every now and then on Discord, back when I was considering my mini doco, but when she started her thesis at uni she got really busy and I noticed she dropped off KZfaq and Discord for long stretches. I decided to not bother her because I also had a lot going on, and it wasn’t urgent that I get it done right away. Since the. I haven’t really spoken to her. Maybe if I decide to pick it up again I could hit up Lolli. It would be the same net result. I just wanted the input of a vocal coach that I could interview about the process I was undertaking and possibly to do one or two lessons with over time. The difference with Julia is that I could fly to Queensland (the state north of where I live) and we could do it in person. But I don’t think the channel would be capable of funding several trips to Portugal as great as that would be 😂😂

I get what you are saying as far as Ren and Chinchilla performing live. I listened to the lyric video to this song and it was beautiful but the live made me cry. I listen to Chinchilla multiple times every day. You should check out her Pink Pop performance. She can definitely hit the notes and her backup singers as well. Chinchilla is dressed in black with red on the hat. Everyone else is in all white. Please check out her “Caps Lock” visualizer. I’ve heard many rectors who are musicians as well talk about being inspired by both Ren and Chinchilla 😊❤ great reaction

In watching the various reactions to this video, I have never seen this many virile, musically articulate men so utterly content to being thoroughly reduced to a state of blubbering Chillibean fandom.. it's a rather fetching look, tbh, lol 🤗 oh, btw..Chinny just played the PinkPop '24 festival a couple of weeks ago and during her set performed this song.. if there were any doubts from the haters that she was dubbed or overly produced..well, let's just say any such cynical accusations were quickly and completely put to rest but good. Honestly I’m not sure why I connect so emotionally to these perfomances. I suspect it has more to do with being awestruck and just a little bit of projecting my own insecurities as an artist. I find it remarkable that someone so talented would suffer from stage fright. But having said that I am colourblind and love painting. 😂

I think you're 100% correct about just making a performance that's true. I always get the impression with Ren and Chinchilla, that first and foremost they are writing ONLY for themselves, staying true to themselves and their artistry, and anyone who wants to come for a ride is welcome. I hope you figure out how your song is best for you (hope you'll share) ❤ Also, think of Ren writing the same song multiple ways, from rap to acoustic guitar, or Love Music 1-4, etc.

Im the same as you, all songs and tracks from ren and from chinchilla are amazing but theres something extra special about the live versions 😊💜 ren recently put out a song called "troubles", and he does the studio version and the live acoustic, definitely recommend the acoustic for that one, its awesome (i posted the link in your discord 😁) 💜💜

I don't see any other female artist performing on the level Daisy does, whether it be her sheer talent and vocal mastery, stage presence, style, attitude, grace, you name it. I’m good…. Chinchilla to me still feels like the best kept secret in music… she should be huge but I’m kind of happy that she’s still ours. Some of her lyrics are simply stunning and they hit so hard, of course the delivery, voice and performance help those words hit. I’m so glad you waited for the live.

I can’t wait for the handful of new tracks Ren and Chinchilla have in the pipeline with all their additional life experience and music evolution imbued. And it goes without saying, your subsequent videos whenever they may come (quality is timeless and patience is a virtue). Ren was featured on a track today with an American artist named Prof. I think you’d really appreciate his work given the value you place on authenticity and connection - in particular, there’s a track called “Flower Boy - Live from Powderhorn Suites” which is well worth a watch.
