WHL and OHL are very different leagues. Rob Brown had 3.36 Ppg Brian Propp and Ray Ferarro 2.7ppg. Clearly a generational Talent but that's like comparing numbers from the AHL to NHL. Games changed so much since Crosby came into the game, it's even changed since McDavid entered. It's speed and skill and physical contact and fighting has limited. Perfect time for Bedard thrive. He'll do great and put up stellar numbers. But hate comparing the season he had in the WHL to OHL numbers.

He seems to handle all the media attention incredibly maturely. It would be very easy for a 17-year-old to get carried away with all the attention, but Bedard keeps it cool and focuses on doing the work necessary. That's fantastic to see, and will probably benefit him tremendously in the long run.

the boy GM forced out Kane and Toews and won't take them back no matter what. Kane for his part would also only want to come back if the team were a contender again. but if that happens while he is still in the league and he asks back in, I don't believe the Chi GM would take him at any price. he really hates the dynasty and is trying to pretend it never happened. he wants full credit for everything.

Wondering... despite all the stats, as a teenager; does he have the physicality to step into The NHL as a rookie next season? From everything I see of his size, I'd be scared for him, until he develops closer to being his "man" size. Is there another season of building up strength and size in The Dub, or The AHL, or should we see him playing NHL games next season? And if he is, will that be a HUGE MISTAKE, for his physical and psychological development yet, brought on by the pressure to simply get him playing? I'm worried, for a young man that could well become Canada's next great player. Cheers

The kid was born and raised in Vancouver. All he knows is Vancouver. He’s coming to Chicago a city, trying to rebuild as not only in their team, but as a city in general, he’s going to come to the city like Mario did, bring glory to it. He will fall in love with the city like Mario did I can see it. Edit ik Pittsburgh and Chicago are two different cities but if you look at Pittsburgh when Mario came, Pittsburgh was in bad shape too just like Chicago is if anything it’s going to be the same situation I can see it

@@spartannige3296 That would be great. Obviously picking higher is the goal, but if they stay where they’re at then I won’t be pissed. This recent talk about Will Smith being so good might make 5th not sting as much, but dropping to 6th would just be brutal lol.

Mark the day. There has been way too much hype for this kid, way too much media exposure in general. I predict that he’s the next Nail Yakupov. Undoubtedly a great hockey player. Leave the guy alone and let him play the game. Treating this kid like he’s a Demi-god is ridiculous.

What a terrible take, he isn’t. Imagine if Gretzky played in an era with all the analytics, trainers, better equipment, no obstruction, etc. It’s extraordinary what he did in that era & crazy to think what could have accomplished today. McDavid would have just been blown up

I'm not hating the kid, I'm hating the media/scouts. Saying that Bedard is anywhere near McDavid or Crosby level is laughable. Crosby was dominant in every aspect of the game and looked like a 25-year-old NHLer playing in the QMJHL. McDavid's skating and puck-handling skills were like something from 30 years in the future, we'd never seen anything like it before. Bedard is just a really talented offensive player with great instincts and an unreal shot. Nothing else about his game is special, and his size/defensive acumen mean he probably won't even be a center in the NHL His stats are what is driving the hype, and putting up unreal numbers in the CHL isn't the feat it once was--not even half of lottery picks play there anymore. Lafreniere was the same story.
@evanbrown2594
@evanbrown2594 11 ай бұрын
Fair.....but the game has changed so much over the last 10 years and it is much easier for players with Bedards skill sets to thrive...todays game is about offence and speed. He seems well suited to it like McDavid. It would be good to see him get mentored by a great 200ft player like Crosby though.
@Matthew-cw3gn
@Matthew-cw3gn 11 ай бұрын
@@evanbrown2594 I don't have any doubt that Bedard will be a great player, but the game hasn't changed that much for top 6 forwards in the past 10 years. The game has changed radically for defensemen and a different set of skills is required for checking line forwards, but I don't think Bedard would benefit that much from entering the NHL in 2023 versus 2013. He still doesn't appear to have the strength, reach, or playstyle to succeed at Center, and it's not like his skating is gonna blow the doors off anybody at the much less impactful wing position. For those reasons, I just don't see him being a perpetual Hart threat like Crosby or McDavid.

@@Max_m I said specifically the lottery picks. Yes, more than half the players drafted overall are being drafted out of the OHL, WHL, and QMJHL, but those leagues no longer house all of the best prospects. 2022 Draft - 6 of the first 16 picks were CHL 2021 Draft - 5 of the first 16 picks were CHL 2020 Draft - 8 of the first 15 picks were CHL 2019 Draft - 3 of the first 15 picks were CHL 2018 Draft - 6 of the first 15 picks were CHL
