Your comment about the motorcycle when he had the passenger on the back and Deacon talks louder than they do. You kinda have to do that when you’re on a motorcycle because your passengers talking in your ear while you’re yelling back at them. I kind of seen that as like one of the awesome things they put in the game with the detail. Because it’s like that when you’re riding motorcycles

It absolutely deserved to have a sequel. I recall reading or hearing somewhere that Bend Studio originally intended it to be a 3-part trilogy. So knowing that breaks my heart even further since we won’t even get a part 2 😢 Your review was very fair and balanced so I appreciate that. I love this game so much, it pains me how it was “done dirty” by the so called “critics”. They did the game such a disservice. And it pains me more that Sony listened to them rather than the seemingly thousands of players who love it and who have been begging for a sequel.

As someone who has put over 400 hours into this game and beat it on survival II more times than I care to count. This game does, in my opinion, deserve a co-op sequel. If Sony could give Uncharted a sequel after its first game, (if you know you know.), then why not Days Gone? ( I also kinda play Days Gone to feel closer to my best friend who lives up in Oregon. My half of the Thunder Egg she gave me sits on the mantle below my TV. ) Great review man.

What do you mean hordes unlock late in the game? They are available as soon as you start. There is the train car horde that you can go to in the very first zone of the game. It is a small horde, but assuming that you aren't playing new game + it is still a challenge for new players. The sawmill horde is arguably the best horde in the entire game. The largest as well.

Not only did this game deserved a very highly requested sequel it's also one of the best post-apocalyptic games I have ever played. I tried to tell a friend about this game when it came out that this game is essentially The Last of Us but more rpg-ish. Of course the story-telling is not as good as The Last of Us BUT the world itself and all the intel you can gather (how the apocalpyse happenend, how the government fell, how NERO lost control, etc) made me more invested into doing side quests and gathering all the recordings. I just finished the game this year with a friend of mine and it was a cool journey. Deacon finding his wife, him trying to keep Boozers will to live and all the other encounters. Yeah, sure, the release was a bit messy but it kinda overcame the problems with patches and what not. I wish I could have explored Deacon and Sarahs journey in a sequel. I really enjoyed it because when I started it I had NO expectations whatsoever.

Days Gone is a FANTASTIC title. Like, It always shocks me to remember people thought it was bad. Like the story was great, the side missions were fun, challenging, and also varied. Like I wasn't bored at all with having to find new ways to take out a horde or sneak and solve things and avoid the different types of zombies. This was also the first real zombie game I've ever played ( if you dont count arcade resevil and PvZ lol) and I am NOT they type of gamer who is good at shooting things or plays scary games ( read: I still haven't been able to get through Evil Within cause scary) nor can i drive in games that arent' mario kart but I finished this game fully and want to play it again recently because it was that good. It needed a Days Gone 2

Ig it’s normal for characters like skizzo to get all that screen time that they usually get, yet Alvarez, Flores n Vasquez dying like they did is normal..*

Just curious how is this game not woke? It features a mixed race lesbian couple, a Japanese woman, and plenty of other people of color, this game checks all kinds of boxes, but people get wayyy more mad when dead space has a unisex bathroom. I'm not tryna instigate anything I'm just genuinely curious. Where do you draw the line?

Ita not woke just because all the characters arent straight and white you know. It doesnt get political about that stuff at all. Just people tryna survive. Woke is when its forced down your throats.

@@klue1381so if the entire cast of a video game isn’t straight white men a game is “woke”?? which none of you even use the word correctly it’s now been turned into a conservative buzzword meaning “things i don’t like” but anyways what is wrong with people getting the see themselves on screen and in media and art they enjoy? like you do realize lesbians and women and people of color are real right?? living beings with hopes and dreams not a made up polictical thing to piss white people off?

I live in Oregon and I can confirm that the world design of Days Gone really does capture the essence of Oregon, a lot of Oregon outside the Portland Metro Area is a lot of small towns hidden in the untamed Cascades of Forests and Deserts. This game shows off Oregon better that a lot of media struggles to show and I love it all the more.

The funny things is, Sony will set back and watch all these videos being made about how underrated this game is and how it deserves a sequel because of its potential. Yet they'll sit there and let that opportunity slip by. Also that horder music always had my heart pumpin!!

I’ve never played the game, but my brother did, and he loves it ! As for the review bomb it received, I’ve learned to never go based off people’s reviews, that I have never seen play. Whereas I would much rather base my decision of watching gameplay on KZfaq, I can really judge the game, for the most part firsthand and get an idea of what I can do.

This game was fantastic, yes it was a little slow to get the ball rolling but the story had me PULLED IN the whole time and the characters were genuinely lovable and easy to get attached to; they felt like real people and as an Oregon native I thought it was cool asf to see my state in a zombie game and to hear/see locations that I grew up around! Honestly got a laugh out of me when they said Portland was nuked (I was born and raised there) because that'd sound about right. LOL And yes Oregon looks EXACTLY like what the game showed, I'm seriously impressed with the devs for capturing how beautiful the state is honestly and if you ever wanna visit I heavily encourage it! Please go to downtown Portland and try out the food carts, or visit in the summer and check out the Saturday Market! Bikers are also a BIG thing here, I grew up in a biker family as my dad is one and my childhood is filled with memories of going to biker rallies etc. and riding with my dad so this game was extra special to me. I really really push people to pick the game up if they haven't already. Also it's "Ory-Gun" ;)

Great video essay/review though I'd say it needs more *spoiler warnings* (it's easy to miss - maybe in the title?) since there's still plenty of people who haven't played this gem of a game yet. It was brand new to me just 1 year ago. Like Lisa's character arc, finding Sarah, etc... Those are supposed to be big surprises and I'd hate for that to be ruined for anyone's first time experience. It'd almost be better if there were two versions, as the title will attract curious new players (especially since it's on sale right now for $9.50!), not just seasoned fans. Also, I loved Skizzo! I actually really enjoyed him as a bad guy as he offered a bit of comic relief (laughing at him like b-rad from Malibu's Most Wanted, lol) while still being a weaselly 'snake in the grass', with a proper build up of the player's desire to slay him by the end of the game. I thought that was really cool take on a main story villian and realistic actually (often bad guys can be a little unbelievable). The obsessed religious Colonel as a bad guy... yeah that was pretty generic and a bit boring. Side note, I just started dabbling in editing my own videos so I know a little more what goes into it and holy shit you put in work! 37 mins of it with tons of relevant cuts to your talking points, green screening yourself in, b-roll footage, well timed jokes & memes. My god. I don't think I have the patience nor the organization to keep track of it all. 🥵 Hats off.

The details and world building of this game were awesome. The world feels lived in and abandoned. I recall finding a sniper perch made on a bridge. There was a sniper laying there, and on the wall next to it were a series of hash marks. I just sat there and chilled. The world was a mess, and here was a place someone had sat and ticked off every killshot they landed from their watch. It was just a sick detail that showed instead of told. The world felt that way to me. Places told small stories if you let them.

If I remember correctly, the reason why Jesse mail Carlos is so pissed at both boozer and deacon, it’s not because they were the ones that burned him, but because the I believe were the trio of friends, and instead of standing up for him, they just let them get burned and turned their heads and walked away. And I think shortly after that, both of them just decided to leave the biker gang because of that.

As someone who started playing Day's Gone this year after having it in my backlog for the longest time, I went into the game with low expectations. My expectations were met and then some. Definitely a game worth playing once even though it does have its flaws, which doesn't bother me much at all besides wanting more. Sad to know there'll never be a sequel cause of the media bashing it so harshly. Shits got me crying in the club right now (metaphorically that is).

16:30 I have to disagree here. It's not a man trying to find his wife, it's a man who has been driven near-mad by the apocalypse finding out suddenly that his wife (who he thought and accepted was dead) might be alive somewhere, and he finds his humanity during the frantic search.

A couple years ago, I got this game for free for being a PS plus member. I didn’t have a PS4 when it first came out, so I finally had a chance to play it. I knew the game had bugs when it first launched, but I also knew they fixed it by the time I started playing it. And I had a fun time with it. It was fun and enjoyable. I didn’t get too far until it fell into my backlog. But over the course of December and early January. I went back and started over. And I had a blast with this game. Definitely one of my favorite zombie games. And I intend to go back and do New Game Plus sometime soon. P.S. GIVE THIS GAME A GODDAMN SEQUEL!!!

I recently picked up a PS5 and couldn’t wait to replay it. The game is absolutely gorgeous on PS5. My second play-through was every bit as enjoyable as the first, and it’s the only game I’ve had the desire to 100%. It’s just such a fun and captivating experience that hasn’t grown old for me.

The reason the conversation between Deacon and Lisa is awkward Is due to him facing forward and his voice travling in that direction over the engine. Hence Deacon is louder while Lisa is behind him and talks into his ear.

Definitely a good game. They could have fixed the character writing, excessive cutscenes and walking sections, and weapon balancing. I feel like a lot of the guns become obsolete once you unlocked new ones, leading to low weapon variety.
