I’m hoping they start doing all the 20th century Fox and touchstone back catalog! Think a Bruckheimer collection in the style of those Columbia Classics box sets. Con-Air, Armageddon, Crimson Tide, The Rock, Enemy of the State, and Gone in 60 Seconds all in one awesome 4K set!!

I'm still really hoping for Fantasia in 4k. It would be very nice if they consider a big mega set of all their vintage shorts, like they did with the Disney 100 set. I'm also hoping for a nice 4k of The Rocketeer too. As always, thank you James for your work. I really appreciate it.

Exciting to know that Disney does have some interest in catalog titles, and that were was a reason for DMC-exclusives becoming so scarce in the club’s final years. Admittedly, I still want to wait and see, but what you’ve revealed here does instill confidence.

I hope this leads to more boxsets with the Disney back catalog. I would love a Touchstone Pictures series of boxes since so many of those movies have never received a release beyond DVD or early Blu-Ray. Three Men And Baby is a huge hit that somehow is still only available on DVD.

It will be fun to make a list of things we’d like to see released, now that there is some realistic hope for a change. I’d like a 4K of The Black Hole. 👍🏻🙂

This is very exciting news! I hope to see the two Tron films and The Black Hole on 4k UHD! That would be truly be on my top films list to see the new Sony/ Disney collaboration put out. It would be a blast to see those Tron and The Black Hole released in limited edition steel books. I really am relieved that the rumors are false about Disney abandoning physical media. Well I'm glad somebody's putting out the real story. I knew it was good news once I heard Sony was taking over to distribute Disney films on physical media. As I keep saying physical media isn't dying.

I want Disney and now Sony to release some of the Pixar Animation Disney+ series like Monsters At Work, and Cars on The Road. Also, release all of the Star Wars and Marvel Disney+ series on 4K and Blu-Ray, too. It is an exciting time for physical media fans, from Disney studios.

So we have about 3 months to make any last Disney Movie Club orders. I would love to hear your take on some must get titles, that maybe perhaps are less likely to be released again (in particular the Disney Movie Club exclusives).

Maybe we'll finally get Blu-rays or 4K UHD Blu-rays for Homeward Bound 1 & 2, live-action versions of 101 Dalmatians & 102 Dalmatians, The Brave Little Toaster, Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers The Movie, Hocus Pocus 2, The Santa Clauses, Home Alone 6, *The Scream Team, Phantom Of The Megaplex, Jumping Ship, The Luck Of The Irish, Smart House, Cadet Kelly, Under Wraps* (1997) (these in bold can be together in one value set and I'd be happy with it), Halloweentown 1-4, Richie Rich movies,.... just to name a few of several that I'd like to have on blu-ray. A lot of the above don't even have a DVD release yet. Maybe we'll finally get Goosebumps the complete classic series, Recess, Aladdin, and more on DVD in complete series sets as well. I've a renewed hope for future releases. Been pondering what I hope to see happen with the deal they made and this is most of whats running through my mind. It'll be a while before they begin, but until then... 🤓🤞🏻🤞🏻

Glad to hear that physical media will live on (the video racks at my local Best Buy are now empty 😢). I just wish that Disney would use Dolby Vision and the same variable aspect ratios on its home releases that that does on Disney Plus. As an example, whatever you think of The Marvels , it was in Dolby Vision and had quite a few scenes using the 1.9:1 IMAX aspect ratio along with the standard 2.39:1 ar. When the movie is released to home video it will almost certainly be locked into 2.39:1 and HDR10 only.

Sounds like good news and raises possibility of more 20th Century Fox releases too. Disappointed that rest of the world is left out again…. in the UK we seem to now be getting Sony/ Disney releases a long time after US releases. - case in point Aliens etc not being released in the UK 🇬🇧 until 2025 - also no sign of the Abyss being at all in the UK (supposedly because of scene with a mouse being drowned - coincidence that it was a mouse (Mickey?)

Thanks for taking the time to create this video. I follow you because you continue to move forward with your channel and stay positive about physical media. I am very tired of all the doom and gloom out there with everyone shutting down physical media. Movies are getting bigger, better and everyone knows best experienced directly from disc. Streaming is great and convenient, but for those titles we want to watch over and over again physical media is the best and only way to go. Something annoying was how many editions/different lines Disney had for their films. I've wanted a complete and definitive collection of all their classic animated films, but when you go to collect them they're discontinued, rebooted, incomplete, 4K editions drop, then there's a different and newer 4K edition for some movies while not upgrading other films. Signature collection, Diamond collection, 100, Anniversary, etc.. It was always utter chaos and the few I bought always looked so sad on my shelf and inconsistent. I'm not sure if I should buy these recent 100 edition 4ks or just wait to see what Sony does. Unless Sony will simply be releasing/manufacturing these 100 editions from now on? Either way... Disney is such a stressful thing to collect

This is good news! I'm assuming this is partly due to Disney and other studios realizing that streaming services are not very sustainable and are not as lucrative as they thought they'd do, hence their move back to theater releases and now physical media. Here's hoping they release 4K/blu rays of Pinocchio and Fantasia at the level they've transferred Snow White and Cinderella. I also hope they release 4K's of some of their 90's live action movies, like Homeward Bound and Honey I Shrunk the Kids. I noticed some of these are already available on 4K on Disney+! And they look great. I'm assuming it's a matter of funding the production and distribution of 4K blu rays of these movies?

Okay this IS actually exciting. I am now going to be keeping an eagle eye out for catalog TV shows that IMHO have been entirely shafted and/or shut out before now, including some Muppet TV shows that they have the rights to if they can find the chain of custody documents and the documents relating to Muppet Babies (1984) and what rights they own (which if my sources with intimate knowledge of the production of that show are correct, that has got to be a capital P Priority for this new Sony deal, as those of us who are fans of that show aren’t getting any younger!)

I really agreed with you on how exciting this news is …. Until you told us it was limited to the N. American market and those of us outside that region (in my case UK) are to be frozen out of the distribution of the resultant media releases. Yes, we can (and I do) import via Amazon or WOWHD, but, whilst the 4k disc is normally region free, accompanying Blu-Rays are usually region locked. So, whilst shutdown of Disney Movie Club doesn’t really effect us in the UK (I’m not even sure if it’s ever been available over here), it does sound like we’re now being shut out of future releases and, presumably, existing catalogue 😢

Hopefully this means we’ll actually get a 4K for Barbarian or All of Us Strangers.

I hope this means Darkwing Duck, Gummi Bears, Goof Troop, and other Disney shows get finished up on DVD volumes at the very least or better yet complete series Blu-ray releases for all the Disney Afternoon titles. Recess, Aladdin the series, Timon & Pumba, 101 Dalmatians the series, Phineas & Pherb, Kim Possible and others need complete series releases as well. Hopefully this deal means there's hope for these titles to be finished if not upgraded to Blu-ray. As for movies & series, both new & old, I'd love to own Home Alone 1-6 in a 4K + Blu-ray box set as well as The Santa Clause 1-3 and The Santa Clauses series in another massive 4K + Blu-ray set. I also hope this means former DMC exclusive titles such as Holes, Honey I Shrunk The Kids, Honey I Blew Up The Kid, The Pacifier, A Goofy Movie, and An Extremely Goofy Movie will be rereleased at some point because the prices increased dramatically through third party sellers on eBay. I'm so hoping this partnership leads to a new release of O Brother Where Art Thou and Tombstone. I would love to own both of those on Blu-ray and to my understanding O Brother hasn't gotten a new release since both Disney and Universal own the film. But I could be wrong

Please can you tell me if Sony Pictures Home Entertainment plan to release any of their TV show back catalogue which have yet to receive a blu ray release like TJ Hooker (already available in HD), Starsky & Hutch and Hart to Hart? I'm only hoping that Disney own Hill Street Blues as that is a Steven H Bochco show like L.A. Law and NYPD Blue.

Since Sony has much more of an incentive to keep physical media alive than Disney does this can only be a good thing.

Do you know if Disney owns the DVD distribution rights to the classic Goosebumps tv series? I'd love for that to be released in a complete series DVD set here in the US. I have the complete series imported from the UK and all the triple-packs released here, but a complete series US release is still on my wishlist. I know the reboot series is on Disney Plus, but I don't know if their rights are exclusive to the reboot or if they cover the entire catalogue. I'm not into the reboot series, but the '90s series is a childhood favorite I'd love to own on DVD.

Here’s what I’d like to see, is, especially for some of First three phases of marvel stuff to get re-Authored. Give us Dolby vision and improved Atmos, and give us Iron Man one and two to don’t give us the DNR masters.

That’s bad news for European bricks and mortar retailers. Hopefully they’ll get another production and distribution deal for those zones left out.

Exciting times ahead but a good chunk of the fun will be extinguished if FOX titles aren't considered. Fox has a far more interesting library than Disney IMO. Without talking about titles or even saying Yes or No, are you able to offer any hints about whether or not we can expect some Fox films in this deal?

I will be excited when I get The Rock, Tombstone, Fight Club on 4k, right now we know nothing when it comes to what actually is going to be released. Disney will have final decision on what will be released on the format and right now they are not supporting 4k at all. Poor Things got only blu ray, Fox has 20 4k restorations of their classic titles ready and they doing nothing with it

This deal sucks for us outside US and Canada and to import a movie from US is gonna be to expensive thru amazon, a movie that cost around $36 is gonna cost around $63 to import after shipping and tax to my country...so this deal for us outside US and Canada is beginning of the end of physical media from at least from Disney......

surely it is a bit short sighted for this deal not to include UK, AUS and EUR markets. I realise the US and CAD markets would be the focus but I find it strange that they would exclude other large regions where physical media collecting is just as big. Even more so now that loads of us are ditching streaming services due to constant price hikes. oh well. at least we can import I suppose so there is an option.

But does this *really* mean that Sony will now have COMPLETE access to go into the Disney/Fox catalogue and just put out whatever they want? Does Disney not still have *some* kind of say in what films they will or won't put out (and they have obviously not had much interest in the back catalogues over the years)? However, maybe this could be a way for Sony to kind of prod Disney, like for example, "Hey Disney, we should put out The Sound of Music on 4K" and hopefully Disney would agree and give the go-ahead.

2 unanswered questions: will Disney Movie Insiders continue and how will this affect the Mill Creek deal from December?

Disney does a decent stuff with the UHD releases of things like Snow White, but they intentionally choke MCU releases so people subscribe to Disney+. How many things are on Disney+ with DV and IMAX Enhancement, but the physical media has neither of those? Pretty much every MCU release LOL! Never mind their treatment of some of the catalog of stuff they've bought. "The Color of Money" has led a tragic existence in physical media and would so benefit from UHD with good HDR. Maybe Sony will do a better job of it.
