There are plenty of street cars that exceed 1g in acceleration as there are plenty of cars that go from 0 to 62 in less than 2.7, no drag tires and prepped surfaces required, also the roadster is planned to have cold gas thrusters, so rockets, rockets don't care about tire grip.

@@theDarksunsShine Rubber isn't magic. Newtonian physics applies to rubber the same way it applies ti everything else. There is no exception for drag tires in the physics. Drag tires on a drag strip form a vacuum seal witb the road. Similar to how suction cups stick to your wall. Along side that, a drag strip is coated with a special adhesive to make it even more sticky. In short. Drag tires do not rely on pure friction for their grip the way normal road tires do. Drag tires gain more grip on top of the frictional grip from other sources. A handful of street cars can slightly exceed 1g due to the effects of downforce. However, at low speeds the effects of downforce are small and thus, there isn't much to gain there. All sub 2.7s street cars where tested on prepped drag strips with specialized tires. I wouldn't argue btw. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I know what im talking about. I know more than most people about Newtonian mechanics. And i will reiterate, just because this is so very important. The laws of Newtonian physics absolutely, undebatably, apply to rubber. Rubber isn't magic. You can look it up yourself. No rubber compound in existence has a static friction coefficient above 1.

@@AgentStark, still not going to help much on a non-prepped surface. The Demon 170 does 0-60 in 1.66 seconds with drag radials and a prepped surface. But, it only manages around 2.5 seconds on unprepped asphalt.

See the thing with Demons is their times are set on drag strips with drag tires and drag tunes, on the road they have 0 grip and just spin their wheels all day long. Any other car manufacturer does these tests with regular road tires on a regular road without changing stuff like the ECU, so in short, Dodge is kinda just cheating

Yeah, and because of the way friction works, it's physically impossible to accelerate 60 miles in less than 2.7-3 seconds without specialized tires and a prepped road surface. The only reason so many cars have been breaking this limit recently, is because manufacturers have started testing their acceleration with drag slicks on a prepped strip. Some of them also just flat out lie.
