After seven years on the platform as both a 'regular' Fiverr Top Rated Seller (TRS) and vetted Fiverr Pro seller, I have a unique, deep perspective in both sides.
In this video, I'm breaking down the differences between selling on Fiverr as a basic/anyone can join/starts at $5 seller and becoming a Fiverr Pro seller. To be a Pro, you have to rigorously vetted through an application process to prove your credibility and expertise.

Another Fiverr fan here! I get at least 50% of my yearly salary from them this year... I have been on the site for 3 years now before professional fashion designers were really there... So now that they added Fashion design to their official categories and started promoting those services my business has grown 10x this year... Plus the fact that I recently became a Fiverr choice seller helps a lot too... So this week I will try to keep building momentum by applying to pro.

Glad I found your video and channel :) I think I saw one of your gigs in Fiverr when looking for inspiration before haha I recently received an email from Fiverr inviting me to apply to join Fiverr pro, but I didn't know the cons of becoming a pro seller. It's definitely scary to delete my current gig to create a new one, especially since I don't have too many repeating buyers right now. I think I'll wait a little more to get more repeating buyers and some interesting projects to share in my application to join Fiverr pro :) Thanks for sharing this information. Thank you for another helpful video, Carrie. Still taking baby steps toward completing my pro application - not sure how Fiverr weighs the social media element, but I did finally create a Facebook business page with a link to my Fiverr account. And now I'm working on my website, complete with a portfolio... yikes! Anyway, even without pro, Fiverr does seem to make it worth your while if you make an effort on their platform - I can tell they're "promoting" a gig that I only created in response to a buyer's request. There's no way these folks are finding this gig organically. Thanks, again! Can't wait for the next one!

Thank you Carrie. Great explanation, an good to learn about your experience with the platform. It is interesting that the reviews start at zero again as a Pro, and you said it doesn’t matter as you quickly built up those numbers again, but how much of that was from existing clients that continued to give you work after you switched to pro?

Until last year, the vast majority of my work was with first-time clients and one-off projects, so it was a big leap of faith making that switch to Pro and I didn’t have a loyal group of repeat clients at the time.

I am waiting for my Fiverr Pro gig to be approved and it will be interesting to see if my order volume and value increases as a result. I agree with all your points but I think the "thing" is Earnings before v. Earnings after. I work super hard on the platform to "tick" all the boxes so.it will be interesting to see if Post-Pro versus Pre-Pro is better. Of course, the perfect storm is increased higher value orders... :-)

Amazing content, I managed to get to the top level seller in 1 year, and now passed if I can become a Pro or not.. this video is super helpful. I also love the fiverr platform.. but dear god, never have an actual gig for less than 50 bucks, just a bunch of idiots and scammers and fiverr never supports its sellers, other than constantly trying to sell us crap. but yeah I agree the 20% is fine.

Do you mean paid search slots within the platform? They’ve been kicking that idea around in internal surveys for at least 4 years now. I’ve always voiced my opinion to say no, I wouldn’t use it and I don’t want the platform to move in that direction, but honestly if it does it’s not the end of the world. And even if they’re considering it, it still might not roll out full force - like the milestones feature, which I’ve had beta access to for several years. Thanks for watching and commenting! 🥰

No, you can *never* have two accounts! After you’re accepted to Fiverr Pro the badge is added to your original account. When you create new Pro gigs, then you’ll have to pause the old non-pro ones. It’s really not complicated at all.

Hey Carrie, I really like your content. Thanks for being selfless enough to share. Subscribed after watching you with Mike Nardi. That video was awesome. Am pretty new to fiver. I recently created an account and set up my first fiver gig after doin some pretty thorough research and bench marking from the seasoned sellers on fiver. However, upon completing that, I did wait for my gig to be published but I don`t seem to see it upon searching a week after creating the gig. I honestly don`t understand what could be wrong. The puzzle is more complex since that gig has the `active` tag on it. Kindly shed me some light on the same.

Hi - thanks for subscribing! If the gig is active, it is in search somewhere. You just may be missing it when you’re looking, you’re not searching for the right thing, and/or it’s in such a low search position that it’s buried. Great video, Carrie. But fiverr pro doesn't have any cons, it's all pros. Do you have any specific suggestions for what to do to enhance credibility for the application process to become pro. I'm a writer too and I have a few hundred positive reviews but I got rejected. Thanks again :D

Good for you - both in what you have achieved so far (and also for putting yourself out there with the application.). Like I mentioned in the video, those ‘cons’ were things that I had to personally think about and consider as I made the decision to switch over, but they turned out to be positive for me in the long run. For you, for example, the rigorous application process is a con because it keeps you out of the platform. For me, it’s a kind of elite benefit. It’s just based on your personal experience. No - they’re salaried employees of Fiverr doing their job to push products for the platform. I like my success manager - he’s a nice guy, but it’s not that kind of business relationship, at least not to me.

If I’m reading your question right, you mean - can you sell pro gigs in one category and non-pro gigs in a different category? Yes. As an example, my writing gigs are all pro, but there isn’t a pro designation for business consulting, so I offer that as a regular gig. They just can’t be in the same category. If you’re verified for both of the categories. Pro is based on the category that you’re vetted in. A few days ago, I got approved for Fiver Pro and have a booked call for onboarding and activation of my account and gigs with my manager in two weeks, so I’m a bit anxious. ive been thinking about doing fiver for years! however when i search for pros i see very few reviews so it makes me think they don't get many jobs. does that make sense?

Several reasons. Existing gigs can’t be converted to pro, so I had hundreds of reviews on my gigs, but had to start at 0 when I became pro verified (for example). And many Pro sellers are newer to the platform because Fiverr has been working to attract and onboard more new experts. It’s probably also true that we do fewer orders overall. Higher value, lower quantity.

You’ll create a new gig that starts with zero reviews - yes. But your account still has the reviews listed on your seller profile.

I’m not a Fiverr staff member and I don’t make those decisions, but I think they look at a range of things - education/credentials, years of experience, professional presentation, notable clients, and (most importantly) the quality of work samples. What’s your service niche?

All unpaid because I never thought about the possibility of doing it professionally. I just like to write. I am a full time aerospace Project Engineer and small business owner. Lots of irons in lots of fires but, thinking about moving to full time writing and editing.

I think that they do look at the extent of your client history and the depth of your portfolio... so that might hurt your application. But I’m not a Fiverr Pro team member or anything, so I can’t say for sure. Wishing you the best!

Maam its a question of racial and colour discrimination as well, have you ever seen an asian or non white pro seller, so far, its not about it is worth it or not, thats the whole point, western world influences media and corporate so much, that for you all its a choice, and we all the eastern side of the world, he live in hope of someday getting that acknowledgement that we are equal and can be treated equally based on merit, not on colour or class . So if you really think the world is equal, or wish it to be, please do raise awareness because fiverr may be biased but you elite class' votes are heard, by masses and authorities so please do take a step.
