I am an esthetician. One positive thing about French skin care products is that it is all designed for sensitive skin. the other thing I notice is that the French women I know seem to be lazy about their skincare. one French woman I know brags about how she only washes her face once a day - in the morning - and that she can't be bothered to take off her makeup at night. Creeps me out. I've never had a facial in France, but from what you describe, they are giving you a facial massage (which is an important part of the facial) and that is very good because it oxygenates your skin, encourages lymphatic drainage, smoothes out wrinkles, makes you glow, keeps your skin clear etc etc...it is very beneficial. . You should be doing facial massage yourself.

I do facial massages at home!! Oh my gosh I’m so happy to tell you this - there was this company when I first moved to Paris that sold a YOGA kit for your face. I bought everything except the miniature yoga mat (I couldn’t justify the price). I legit use that kit every week. Haha.

@@adrielfelise good that you do your own facial massage. you should keep going to the French facials even if they dont do extractions. To an esthetician, the facial massage is the most important. the masks that they choose for your skin are also important and they should either mix up a custom mask or use 2-3 different masks on different parts of your face. Find a really good esthetician and go regularly. people think a facial is 'pampering" but it is really effective skin care and basic maintenance. The British facialists are fantastic too -- so if you go to London, make sure you book a facial.

Hi Adriel, I’ve heard that smoking is very common among French women. If that’s true, then it would be also one of the major causes of premature aging.

Hello Adriel as an American I strongly agree on why my skin has improved. I have been using French skincare due to all the chemicals that are allowed in US made products. Many of those ingredients are banned in the EU. I just feel safer what I am putting on my skin which will be absorbed into our bodies
@adrielfelise
@adrielfelise 2 ай бұрын
Yes!!! Agreed. I switched to mainly French/better skincare when I was in the U.S. due to health issues and there was a huge shift in my skin. It’s crazy what they put in our products in the U.S.

The French facial- yes. Every day of the week. If your skin is well moisturized, the message works wonders. I'll be 60 this September and the only hint of wrinkles I have are right above my top lip. I am also an avid gardener but I do not use sunscreen. If your skin is always moisturized you do not need the sunscreen. I do wear a wide brim hat and sunglasses. Diet has a lot to do with how hydrated and conditioned your skin will be. Silk pillow cases help a lot, too. But that's just me. I also use oil on my face and neck.

Pharmacy products are for very sensitive skin. I would say Nuxe and La Roche Posay are still considered luxe. Bioderma is almost considered luxe. SVR and Filorga are highly respected too. Everything else is considered quality but basic (not luxury). Including Caudalie, Sanoflore, and so on. Many people buy them but most will never tell you except for the luxe ones like Nuxe or LRP. I learned quality skin care steps from Asia. And still chose to skip a few steps 😂 Here in France skin care is chaotic as you said. There's no structure. I didn’t use sunscreen, or serums until a few years ago. I had a co-worker who asked me what I did to have such radiant skin, when I told her she almost fainted and said she'd never do all that.😅

So funny - “never do that all.” Whenever I tell someone my routine they just think I’m insane. I love Nuxe and the SVR sunscreen. My friend came to visit and I told her to get the SVR sunscreen but the woman at the pharmacy hustled her and took it out and filled her basket with a bunch of products I’ve never heard of. Yeah the thing is you definitely know people buy them but they hide it.

Great video ) ! I smiled when you described the facial massaging, as I'll admit, it's always 1 of 1st things I mention when anyone asks my skincare 'secrets' ! People often think I'm 10 yrs younger. I practice a daily face massage routine now for about 15 yrs. It ultimately helps keep your collagen healthy, keeping the skin firm ) And like you, I'm a big advocate of daily sunscreen.

I agree a facial massage is great for your skin and I love to do it for myself. I guess I just don’t want to pay for someone else to do it. Have you ever tried FaceGym? That’s the one facial massage I’ll pay for.

It depends on which of the facials you get. Some have a ball, some don’t. I always did the hydra facial and it was amazing. It’s a little intense but you definitely notice a difference after.

As for one's facial skin, I feel a lot of it has to do with genetics, hormones, nutrition, age, environmental factors, ethnicity (when it comes to percentage of lines/wrinkles), and a few other factors like if one smokes (skin destroyer). I'm in my mid-60s and don't do the various skin routines out there and also don't wear makeup, but have clear skin which I've had basically my entire life. The only product that I have is my facial Alba Botanica Cleansing Gel to use instead of soap. One parent, who is a few years from turning 100, still has really great skin and looks 15 years younger than actual age. The other parent who passed away naturally in the mid-90 age range also had great skin. As for with me, it's focusing on consuming a decent amount of liquids and also continuing to eat really really well as I have for decades. Aging and change is a part of life and all of my family members, going decades back to the great great which I knew, just went with the flow and didn't fight it. Stress free lifestyle when it came to the whole skin thing as they didn't stress out about it. Basically eat well and keep the skin moisturized as best as possible. Greetings from Los Angeles

Merci for your comment. You're right that one's facial skin has a lot to do with genetics and hormones etc. My grandmother is approaching 90 and I recently did a video call with her and she looks so great; but I think even still today she has a 4 step skincare routine. She and my mom have always loved skincare and makeup so, naturally, it was passed down to me. We will all talk sometimes just to discuss "what we are putting on our faces." Haha.

@@adrielfelise I can understand a 4-step skincare routine and especially if one wears makeup. What I can't understand is the ridiculous number of products on the market promoting staying youthful and women spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on them to try to achieve what such products are promoting. It all just seems out of control. Great topic for discussion. I'm enjoying your vlogs. Greetings from Los Angeles

Great video!! Do you still use Caudalie? I rather like French skincare that has pretty packaging like Lancome👍what lines do your friends use? If they think pharmacie has bottom of the barrel? Tatcha here in America is a great line with excellent ingredients and beautiful packaging too. Drugstore products uh no. I love the Nuxe honey cleanser and La Roche Posay has a fab matte moisturizer 👍👍for oily skin Toleriane double repair matte check it out. La Roche Posay sunscreens the best👍

Yes, I still use Caudalie to cleanse and tone and as one of my daytime moisturizers. One of my friends who has super sensitive skin uses La Roche Posay. For serums I tend to use Skinceuticals, Niod, Typology, and Face Theory for various products. I loved Osea when I was in the U.S. but couldn't get it here. I have friends who also use On the Wild Side - which is a French brand.

As a 70-year-old American, I have great skin even though I've used all kinds of skincare--French and American alike. The best thing I did for my skin is spend 50 years using a good sunscreen as my morning moisturizer. I avoided the sun, wore hats, and still do to this day. I get my advice from American dermatologists who cut through the hype. I only listen to doctors, and the ingredients that everyone loves to vilify are absolutely not harmful, and are sometimes even necessary. While French brands may be very luxurious, they are absolutely not necessary. I'd rather spend my money on good makeup than on fancy cleanser and moisturizer.
