outdoors pvp doesnt really matter but if you want to climb the honor ranks and get pvp gear you need mortal strike, i personally quite enjoy dualwield fury, it feels like a very versatile build, for example in BWL 10% left on nefarian, maintank gets oneshot, my fury warrior quickly whipped out my shield->def stance->spam taunt/sunder armor->pop shieldwall and the sexy axe dropped ;) GG you can theorycraft all you like but i spec on what abilities/cd's i use most, that suit my gameplay the most, and thats what vanilla did so well imo ;p

Fury for me, I played 5/31/15 and did a lot of pve play, dungeons and raiding. As a fury/prot warrior I could tank about 95% of a prot warrior if I had my defense set on and could dps above arms warriors so I got invited a lot for dungeons and raiding to fill in for missing tanks and to dps.

Frankly arms is always ez mode. Fury always requires more skill to pull off. However, when you pull it off correctly it leads to insane damage potential over arms. This is coming from a Vanilla furry only player :D

There are tricks which can help the leveling grind. A dude running a set route, with a spirit gear set, in the Classic Beta, got to 30 on Horde on a PvP realm before anyone else. He had to work extra hard, pull out every trick in the book and run a very well practiced route, but that he got Faction first, suggests there are some tricks the rest of us plebs could use, to reduce the downtime when leveling a warrior. Basically, the gist of it was plan out your leveling route, follow that plan as best you can, get spirit gear that you can always wear or swap out, and hamstring kite to avoid mob damage. The spirit gear thing was especially surprising, as for over a decade we warrior players thought it was the most useless stat for a warrior, but we were wrong. It turns out Blizzard thought of this ahead of time, and made spirit much much more useful for a warrior than any of us had guessed, and just never bothered to tell us. It turns out that warriors get like 5 times the out of combat health regen from spirit than any other class. So, to reduce downtime, instead of eating and bandaging after every mob or two, you can wear or put on spirit gear, sit down for a few seconds and the health regen is equivalent to a bandage at the appropriate level. Or, just keep moving and go from 30% to 100% health, if you can avoid combat between pulls, in something like 15 seconds. So, with some research and planning, warriors are not quite as slow to level as most of us who leveled them originally, experienced ourselves. Check out Navak, as he was the guy who got to Horde Frist level 30 int he beta.

That was my gear set-up. Pretty much shredded most people. If I could get a crit chain most would die pretty much instantly.

Fury pve spec will be fine in pvp just not as strong as Arms is.

@@BarakGage Well, if you're good at managing your rage and stance dancing, extra crit on Overpower is quite good. It's not just more damage from Overpower, but critting with it means Flurry as well, and Flurry means more damage and more rage. It's a cascading effect.

When I talk about more buttons to press, I really meant that you just have a lot more rage. More rage=more buttons you can press. As a geared fury warrior, you can be rage capped, allowing you to constantly spam sunder armor, heroic strike, bloodthirst, hamstring, etc. There is no specific situation when you would save your whirlwind. You you it after you use mortal strike, if you have rage to spend. Basically, use it off of cd. Slam is an entirely different case. You ALWAYS slam right after an auto attack. Never before. For example, charge in, hamstring, mortal strike, wait for your auto attack to go off, SLAM! It is kind of hard to explain over text, but I hope you get the idea.

thank you for the answer. What I meant about slam is: when exactly is it worth using, since you usually focus on BT, WW, heroic strike, overpower and execute? I know how to use it, I'm just never sure when it's worth using ;-)

The best, and pretty much only time I use slam, is when I have no other cooldowns. If everything is off of CD i may slam. Also if the target is in a stun, like a grenade or intercept stun (especially good against druids), it is really good to cast a quick slam then (with a 2h)

Fury benefits the most with a lot of rage. More rage=more abilities to use. With a 2 hander, you wont get as much rage as a 2 1 handers, unless you crit every auto attack. Don't get me wrong, 2h is still very strong with fury, but 1h's are better because of more rage and better uptime.

MS debuff isn't the why arms is good in pvp. It's because of the big burst which fury doesn't have.

Weapon skill doesn't matter in pvp as it works only in PVE. But yea, 5% for pvp.

I agree, but later in the game almost all pieces of gear have hit on them, especially from naxx. Once you have enough hit, around like 15% or so, you won't be missing nearly as much. But still, fury is fun to play!

Your missing the point even in naxx gear using a mostly PVE set up is not optimal for pvp. Getting gear with 15% hit means you are sacrificing using other pieces that have more crit/stam/armor and are far superior for pvp as arms which doesn't have a high hit requirement. If you could play PVP fury without needing 24% hit to never miss then it could be relatively strong even considering losing MS. But if you intercept a mage and miss your first MH swing its almost a instant GG. Considering most class are trying to kite you the most important thing is being able to burst as hard as possible when you do final get in melee range. Which fury just does not excel at, it might not be super terrible if you have a paladin freedom/dispel training your ass 24/7 but outside of that...

It's funny because getting uptime on mages and hunters isn't a thing. That's why arms is preferred. You need to deal as much damage as possible in the very short windows you have to actually hit them.

Abstract Daddy in bgs you can definitely get uptime on mages and hunters. But in a duel scenario yes you’re right

​@@Noctrl100 yes, seems most pple only think about duel scenarios which is dumb considering most of the pvp in vanilla happens in bgs or wpvp. Fury warrior completely destroys any kind of priests and warlocks (assuming they have shadow reflector) which is pretty huge

with a good premade tank can be a bit paininthe arse. Control machine with constant revenge stuns and silence with emp shield bash, usable 5 sec stun and ofcourse shield slam that purges enemies. Good flag carrier and all in all quite annoyingm but the damage is low, so just group fights.

I remember them being pretty decent 1v1

5% hit is for 2h weapons. For dual wield is 9% for yellow hits and 26% for white damage.

this is an old p-server vid fam..... you only need 5% or 6% vsing +def geared wars ect. tho more ideally so you're not missed aa's all the time. +Weap skill racials also dont matter in pvp

That's only for lvl 63+. Defense rating is the real calculation, because it's your weapon skill vs their defense rating. A 63 would have 315 defense, so you need 9% hit (or 6% with 305 weapon skill) So unless the enemy has like 400 defense, you don't need any hit, because 5 skill rating is about 3% hit. If someone had 300w to someone else's 300d you don't need anything for a yllw to hit. As for white hits, you need something like 24%(for 63+, or 15% for PvP) hit to have the minimal amount of chance to miss (1%) so it's just not worth it, when you can make heroic strike and blood thirst do 1-2k dmg each. With an already high chance to get the rage you need for it with out the 6%-9% for just white hit rage generation.
