Could we see your portfolio? Bootcamp isn't enough. A killer portfolio that proves that you can do the work will afford you the opportunity. Yes, the market is saturated and the economy is down. But that will change and there is and will be a need for QUALIFIED designers. Go hard on that portfolio.

Thanks for sharing!!! It is feeling like no matter what your portfolio looks like, or how strong your UX or UI skills are, without a lot of related work experience or a referral, it’s impossible to get an interview for a low paying internship. There are still people trying to get into it, so it’s important that we’re transparent about what that actually looks like!

Amazing insight brother. 💯I think one major reason also for why profiles gets rejected is because it is filled with saturated case studies e-commerce, OTT, Dashboard, travel app, etc etc. Maybe we should try something really different, like making something for potters not e-commerce, just giving an example. Recruiters are definitely done scrolling through these kinda common topics. Like sometimes I imagine out of no where a recruiter comes across a project involving something like an app for garbage pickers, that case study will definitely be attention grabbing.

In the last two years, I've been learning and working hard in the UX design field. Because I live in a rural area, I can only handle freelance or remote job, which is quite challenging for me. However, I do have a good client, which is obviously not a return on my difficulties. You may be wondering why I am still sticking on UX, and the answer is simple: I enjoy it. You can participate if you are really driven and dedicated to UX, but I wouldn't advise you to pursue a career in UX if you are not!

The market is overly saturated in UXers, and going to a boot camp won’t be enough to get your toe in the door. What I can say is because UX covers an overwhelming array of disciplines, it would be good for you to evaluate your skills and see where in your previous experience did you interact with users, or perhaps you were hired to redesign a website, or maybe you helped in CX related to sales. There is so much you can cover, your case studies would need technical expertise to show off your knowledge in stakeholder management, user flows, user interviews or stakeholder interviews, wireframes and high fidelity design flows. if anything, your case study should have a summarized detail of your challenges, goals, achievements and future outcomes. also your resume needs to be prepared to show your impact on projects, speaking of metrics or achievements. lasty your portfolio. all you need a 3 glod use case studies: 1) Usability testing or some form of research with insights. 2) technical work and 3) a mix of end to end UX processes.

Just my 2 cents, but PM is probably perceived as a less 'sexy' role, so it's a smaller pool of people looking for jobs, especially if you're getting an MBA. The design market is flooded with uneducated people.

Just out of curiosity? So, there are absolutely no programming skills required when becoming a UX designer? I ask because I am a self-taught frontend web developer, so I have skills in CSS3, HTML5, Bootstrap, SASS & JavaScript with React. These are skills which are implemented on a website and what the client or the user would see on their computer. I mentioned this because since I enjoy creating friendly using experience by programming. Are there jobs which require someone to have both UX Design as well as programming skills like web developer? So far, I haven't seen anything online figured I ask since this is your specialty, thank you.
@jansleyreal

Yes there are plenty of UX jobs that prefer knowledge in coding languages. I've seen quite a few of them. You won't be doing actual coding though. I think they just want you to understand it so you can communicate with devs

UX is very different from graphic design. A large part of UX is the ability to do user research to inform your design choices. You also need to test your designs with users and make improvements. Then you need to prove your designs have moved the business closer to their goals, whatever those may be. There is also the additional challenge of making sure your designs can be built within the technical constraints provided by the development team. All along making sure your designs fit the UI patterns and interaction of the system you are designing. I know some UX Designers that do not even do vehement visual design of the UI. All they do is interaction design. It has very little to do with graphic design.
