Are we nicer than Jesus but more brutal than God? If we’re trying to get something out of our system, why use a system to do it?
In this episode of the Kingdom Talks Show conversation between Chris Blackeby and hosts Gil Hodges and Bralynn Newby, the first off is that God is the only game in town. That was a given all Chris’s life, but through a progressive understanding of his relationship with God, particularly in the church settings to which he had been exposed, he moved on, all still within conventional precepts and doctrines.
That was until he was confronted with a crisis. He came to a point of overload from the pressure of his work as a pastor. But more fundamentally, he was battling with the contradictions within himself - contradictions that we all share whether we recognize them or not. The only reason we forget them is that they were instilled within our soul and body by the age of three. Having now come to the realization that no degree or quantity of effort can fulfill God's desire and plan for us and the world, Chris Blackeby is now infectiously demonstrating the good news that is so good it seems too good to be true. The news that salvation is a free gift from start to finish.

So refreshing! One can listen to these talks and feel overwhelmed because of all the things one must do to attain a certain level of revelation and ascension! Yet Jesus said the work that pleases God is simply to believe him! That's it. No hoops to jump.

So True. Our purpose is to take the complicated and make it simple. If it is complicated it is usually because man made it so in order to make a system that can be measured up to! KISS. Keep it simple silly.

Hi Gil. I thought I'd make a helpful comment to something you said. The reason so many believers can not ethically continue to teach something that they don't believe; whether in an Adventist church, Baptist church, Charasmatic church etc, is because all institutional churches teach, where the universal church testifies. The problem with the institutional model of the church is that it adds things to the gospel that is not in the bible, where the universal church doesn't add anything to the gospel. This difference can be seen in what ministers add to the gospel. When they add to the gospel, they are trading in prearranged religious knowledge, not testifying to spiritual truth in time with the spontaneity of the Holy Spirit. Whoever is doing this, effectively hijacks the gospel for their own teaching purposes, and yet God forbids teaching in the age of the testimony. Jeremiah ch 31 confirms; "in the new covernant...no man will teach his neighbour to know the Lord." The anointing with in believers is what should be teaching them. Once the testimonial gift comes through, the believer should need them less, not more. And yet institutional ministers have found away for you to need them more, not less; otherwise they would have to find real jobs. Its almost like they need you a little broken so they can fix you each Sunday. Their teachings instead of testimonies is what does this. This prevents new believers from walking in the fullness of the stature of Christ. Otherwise, you will show them up for not being up to date in Christlikeness. And because they are building for God, instead of letting God build through them, their message sometimes has 30% Holy Spirit led testimony in it, and at other times 70% self appointed teaching. By mixing 30% of their universal testimony, with 70% of their institution teaching causes confusing messages to new believers unlucky enough to find themselves validating their sonships institutionally.

I am loving you’re perspectives but more so-your transparency in revealing your journey! Jesus is so kind & gentle in leading us to repentance (changing our mind) and I’ve found there is no stopping ground in this, except just maybe to ruminate what Holy Spirit has given....but then we are given more. I love this place where our journey is perfectly- exactly, right where it needs to be daily. God is in control of nudging us deeper into Him. It’s He who truly knows us and is such a good good father, only He can raise us best!!! 😄🥰
