Is GUITAR TRICKS Worth It??

Guitar Tricks is considered by many guitarists as the best way to learn guitar online. With a lot of competition from resources like Yousician and Justinguitar I decided I had to go investigate GuitarTricks myself. At the price of $20/month, is the cost of Guitar Tricks justified, or is it a ripoff?
In this video I talk about my experience with Guitar Tricks, and whether it's good for beginner guitarists to progress. We also look at if GuitarTricks is a good tool for more advanced guitar players.
I also talk about the free Guitar Tricks videos available on youtube and if those are enough without purchasing a subscription. With over 11,000 videos available with a guitar tricks subscription it is a notable resource for guitar players of all skill levels to explore.
Oh, I also talk about the 60 day money back guarantee provided by GuitarTricks, and how you can use it to your advantage. Also also, I compare guitar tricks vs. justin guitar, to see if the price is worth paying.
Unfortunately, I haven't compared guitar tricks to jamplay, which is considered one of its top competitors, but I will look at jamplay in a future video.

Guitar Tricks is very good for learning songs,sometimes with easier versions which is always useful,they usually let you play along at a slow pace to build your confidence & increase speed as you go,its a great help & gets you there quicker.i think you can pay annually & it works out cheaper,the teachers are enthusiastic & keeping you motivated,I've been a member for years & they load new songs fairly frequently.

As one of their ads on KZfaq says ( that's playing before MY guitar lesson videos ) 'Learning guitar with KZfaq videos doesn't work. You spend all your time looking for the best videos, and nobody shows you the right way to play songs'. What a load of crap! Since when does Guitartricks have a monopoly over teaching guitar? And there are a lot of great KZfaq guitar teachers out there like Justin Sandercoe and Marty Schwartz, so they shouldn't go around bashing other guitar teachers.

Yo its me again, so I moved and havent been able to practice the last week and a half. I used guitar tricks for a little bit and I have to say I'm sticking to it. If you can afford to pay the money, guitar tricks is definetly worth it. I also use the Yousician mobile app to practice my chords and melodies, which I also find helpful.
@RedlightBlue
@RedlightBlue 5 жыл бұрын
are you keeping up the 3 hour practice schedule? also that actually makes a lot of sense as a combo
@ImPewPew4
@ImPewPew4 5 жыл бұрын
@@RedlightBlue the first week I was able to, then I had to move and some college stuff came up and I was unable to plaay since, I picked up the guitar yesterday and was able to get a hour in. As im tracking my progress, I have around 14 hours played over 7 days, so in average 2 hours a day, but in reality some days I played 3 hours then I didn;t play other days. What I've noticed is that 3 hour per day is really hard to pull with college and other stuff and Its better to do 1 hour a day rather than 3 hours then not practice for 2-3 days. This way, the brain is able to make new neural paths to play the guitar and everyday practice makes the brain store those hand and finger movements. Over this 14 hours, I've learned to play Em,E, Am, C, G, G7, D, D7. I've gotten a grasp on Em, Am, and C chords, can almost change in time, took me 2-3 hours just for those 3 chords, but I'm still having trouble. As for The other chords, I can go from G to D7 and to D but need a lot more practice, shits hard yo. The thing about practicing the chords is that after 5-7 minute, left hand starts to hurt a bit. I like playing melodies more. I'll try and see if I can keep up with the 3 hour schedule otherwise I might do 1-2 hour a day. Eventually Ill make a video of my progress.

I just bought my daughter a 1/2 size acoustic guitar and has registered for free content at various free and paid guitar training sites like guitartricks etc. After watching you video yesterday, I checked out Justin Guitars and loved his site. And soon after I received a summer discount from guitar tricks for a annual membership at $99. I wasn't sure before but your review convinced me to get it, especially at this price. And boy were you right. My daughter and me just finished about 2 hours of the beginners course and we have already learnt more than the last 2 weeks of youtube study. Thank You

The one flaw with online learning - which I’ve encountered from KZfaq Is that if you get stuck on a term in what they mean to what they’re actually saying - you can’t ask for clarification as you can with a teacher in person. Secondly from my experience music theory can be a head spin more so on guitar. So I genuinely found it a million times easier through piano, as it’s more linear and visual

The best way to learn guitar is always private and personal lessons with a real human being who can teach you what you want to learn and listen to your playing in real life, see how you sit, place your hands, correct bad technique, sound, posture. Yes, it might be more expensive, but it will save you a lot of time and you WILL learn for sure.

As always, do a little research before handing out your cash. If you're an extreme beginner, you probably need a structured course. Face it, the first 6-12 months you're gonna be awful. Lessons reduce that time, plus give you encouragement as well. GuitarTricks is good, I actually chose another youtuber, Lauren Bateman, she kinda specializes in us older folks and goes super slow at first. Good luck and don't give up!

Have you read the disclaimer you have to agree to at the beginning? They can change terms of your membership at any time, your only option if you don't like it is to cancel membership, and if you don't (even if you don't know about the change) it means you accept their terms. I'm definitely going down the wrong route to learning guitar, my practicing isn't very structured at all, and I have no music theory behind anything I'm doing, k don't know one note from the next. I started using JustinTV a few weeks ago and just game up for some reason. I'm in that phase where I just want to play stuff I know and like, rather than older songs or styles that don't interest me. I like that there is a way to choose your own direction in how you learn on GuitarTricks, so I may give it a try. (I love Justin too, and Andy Guitar, and Marco Cirillo, and Paul Davids) Side note (get it): What's your name? You look like a Corey.

An hour lesson with a teacher, these days is $40-$50. Not cheap at all. I'd go to a guitar teacher for a year or two, get a decent foundation, than switch to a program like this. Some start from the beginning. Different things work for different people. It's not a competition of who is better than who. It's all about having fun and learning. As long as you're doing both, that's all that matters.

I like that there’s a 60 day trial. I completed 39% of the fundamental course and that was enough. I found the instructor knowledgeable; but not very efficient and incredibly dull. One of the lessons involved “accidental muting”. She could have taken 10 seconds to say, “Be careful not to mute the strings with bracelets, long sleeves or necklaces.” Instead, the explanations were minutes longer than they needed to be. Perhaps future lessons or other teachers are more interesting. I find Justin Guitar to be a good online teacher and it’s cool of him to offer free lessons. I purchased his app to support his efforts 👍
