MNTD Blackspot has been working flawlessly. Installed 8dbi antenna which has tripled my profit. A lot of the sync and status seem to be delays in the API.

Hi from Portugal. I have a MNTD gold spot running for 40 days now. I started with the stock antenna but soon changed to a 5.8 dbi which I bought from the RAK store. The antenna is inside my house for the moment and I intend to place it on the roof next week (with the lightning arrestor and ground cable). It also stopped working for 3 days and since I changed the SD, is working steady...

Ordered my bobcat in april got it in oct. mined 28 HNT made about $800 back. I also bought a rack 5.8 antenna placed 7m high Seattle Wa it is paying for half my electric now.

I have a Nebra, I also ordered a Linxdot and Milesight. I have been pushed back a couple times on both the Linxdot and Milesight, still waiting for both. Supposed to get both of them this month, but was supposed to get the Linxdot in October and the Milesight in December. I was making much more profit a few months ago. I went from like 300-400 a month to maybe 100-150 now.

The lightning arrestor does need to have a ground wire, either going to it's own ground rod or your houses existing ground system. You could also ground it to an antenna pole if the pole is buried deep enough in the ground. In all likelihood, it probably won't protect your miner from damage if you do get a lightning strike, but it should prevent the coax from melting and catching shit on fire. t. Amateur Radio Nerd

Sensecap and really happy with it as it has a great dashboard. Tip is to use high grade cable, get as high as you can, and use a good quality antenna like a tuned antenna from McGill. But most all, your location determines your profitability.

I have a Sensecap. I like how they have a comprehensive dashboard giving you everything you need to know. I have an external antenna 6 dbi antenns which is great. I also use lan with 400 mbps. I use a ground block which runs with 10 gauge aluminum to ground.

I have a bobcat on order since last year. I ended up on the wrong edge of LNY holidays but hopefully getting mine in the next batch or two. Not too optimistic about breaking even at this point but we'll see. Originally had planned around having mine by October but it's gone MUCH longer than that.

I'm awaiting on a Bobcat order to be fulfilled for delivery to the UK. If I could buy another one for user at another location, I'd probably get one of the Goldspot Miners too. Unfortunately not available in the UK.

There are some good videos out how to ground your arrestor. You need to physically connect to a ground stake or switchboard termination bar. Without grounding it is pointless to use an arrestor as the lightning needs to complete the path to find its grounding.

Ordered my Bobcat 300 miner on July 4th 2021 and just got it on 2/2/2022. I connected it that same day and my transmit scale is only .24. I have the miner on window sill. I'll be moving it to the attic over the weekend to see i get a better transmit rate.

Your transmit scale is directly related to the amount of other miners that are close to your hotspot, it has nothing at all to do with antenna placement. If other miners are within 300meters it lowers your transmit scale. Transmit scale effects other miners rewards when they witness you, the lower the TS the lower their rewards are

The lightning device isn’t good for direct strike only good for static from but in the local area. Test it needs to be grounded outside normally that device is installed outside not inside. And if you use it and ground it with a grounding rod as it needs you then need to ensure that grounding rod below it is bonded properly to your main grounding rod for electrical service.

Definitely ground it. I used a #10 solid wire #8 is better. You can ground it to the grounding block outside where your cable company grounds their equipment. Or you can buy a ground rod from your local supply and drive it in the ground and connect your wire to it.

I have the syncrobit, super stable, but earnings haven’t been the best with the recent network upgrades. I have a 10dbi antenna. Before the antenna upgrade I was getting around $2/day. Then I went to $10/day from the 10dbi. Post upgrade I’m back down pretty low, but at least it’s stable. Syncrobit’s have their own dashboards for monitoring and managing the devices

As for the lighting thing, in my field we call it a polyphaser, we ground them to building steel, be sure to shave any paint away from the point you attach the ground wire to. My house has an external ground pole that literally goes into the ground which is a perfectly fine option. We joke around that if lighting strikes the antenna, the polyphaser isn't gonna stop shit, the machine on the other side is getting fried anyway. Still probably a good thing to have tho

the ground is very important. You could run it to the ground outside or to the ground in the electrical outlet.

I think that’s a lightning ground screw. Try to connect it to something that can take the ground to whatever your house is grounded to. I used a 8db antenna and put it right under my roof inside the house and that performed not much better than my stock antenna. I’m not sure what is going on but yeah basically it’s more of a let’s see what happens in the future. There was no way I could could get a mntd miner from the drop so I did pay $1200 for one because I wanted to try it. No regrets, just wishful hoping.

Just got a MNDT Blackspot miner. I set it up in a window for 2 days to make sure it was going to work, then bought a 5.8Dbi antenna and I will put it on the roof of my two story house.

I chose to go woth a 3db rooftop antenna, the lower the gain, the better the coverage, at 3dbi, you get close to 360° coverage, but at 5dbi, it drops down to 40° then 7dbi is 30°. So the antenna that is higher power needs to be positioned properly so the signal is aimed in the right direction to pick up the most hotspots

i bought 5 bobcat miners back in march 2021 and they were delivered in june 2021, bought 2 mntd blackspots in december and they arrived before christmas, and now im waiting for 1 linxdot and 1 panther x2, they should come before end of april :)

You are on the right track. Use the lightning arrestor if you live somewhere with lightning obviously. I live in the PNW and we rarely see lightning so I don’t run one, but they will save you burning your house down if lightning strikes your antenna and million volts goes shooting into your attic. Run the ground to your grounding rod if it’s near by. Otherwise look up a video on how to add a grounding rod. 5.8dbi will likely be enough, 8 has a narrower signal and can over shoot near by hotspots. You can use this to your benefit if the reward scales of the hotspots surrounding are garbage. Key to a successful miner set up is witnessing hotspots with good reward scales. 20ish solid witnesses with high reward scales > hundreds of poor reward scale witnesses.

10 Guage grounding cable down to a grounding point or a rod deep into the ground. I have to run a 8dbi antenna up 25ft so I can reach the good areas. My area sucks over saturated and low profits

You could go off-grid. Put your miner up on a mountain. I have a video series on my channel where I show step by step how you can do this yourself. I have felt my earnings go down but they are still within the top percentile of hotspot earnings. Also, your how should have a grounding rod built in, at least most houses do. You can probably find a ground wire somewhere around your breaker box. If not you should install your own grounding rod. Inexpensive and there are plenty of tutorials. Good video nevertheless :)

If you aren't going to ground it, there is not point in using it. That said, putting a lightening rod on your roof with no ground seems pretty reckless, and definitely invalidates your home owners insurance.

Just received by bobcat 300 x 3 after a nine month wait. Wish I hadn’t bothered and invested the money in Drip or Yield nodes instead. Mining is impossible unless you spend more money upgrading your systems.

I don't have one. Was eyeing a bobcat because that's what I had seen but I haven't ordered one yet because I would honestly rather build one myself but you can't right now.

Ground to copper rod pounded 6 ft into ground like your electrical service is grounded. If you ground elsewhere you are running the risk of lightning damage being extensive to other things in the house. Make the run as direct as possible. My area seems to be saturated with hotspots and their profits are virtually non existent based on monitoring I’ve done. I’m assuming this is because I’m outside NYC and I think most have great wireless plans that kinda make the net pointless around here. I’m still watching at this point.

if antenna is grounded like from rak...no arrestor needed but most other ungrounded a arrestor is required...... Testing or finding test results online is how you find out about grounded antennas

I placed an order for the Sensecap M1 Miner about two weeks ago, and it is supposed to ship in early March. I wanted a MNTD miner, but each drop seemed to get worse and worse, so I gave up on that idea.

I ordered a sensecap M1 a couple of weeks ago that was due to ship at end of March, and it arrived today. I've got an 8 DBI antenna on it, but at the moment it's in a first floor window of our single storey home. Have to figure out a rooftop wiring solution once the weather is warm.

@@johnscan6295 my recommendation is to put the miner in an outdoor enclosure, mount it near the roof and run PoE from your router to the outside the house and up to the hotspot. Keep your antenna runs below 25’ to avoid DBI loss. You can run hundreds of feet of Ethernet without a loss in bandwidth.

@@dorkin_aint_easy I have a 7.5 metre low loss 400 cable for the antenna. An outdoor enclosure would be interesting, do you have any links? Otherwise, I'll keep the miner inside and drill a hole to outside. Internet is wireless, over 200 Mbps at the miner, so no issues there.

Also. I have mine in my attic I have a 400lmr cable for minimum dbi loss. And a 5.8 I'm in Redford Michigan. U can look on the map and see what kinda city I'm in and it works fantastic. It's a bobcat 300 tho

@@TheHobbyistMiner great question!! No not at all! I have it mounted directly at the exhaust for the attic and tons of fresh air flow pour in. Mine even on a 90+ degree day itd be 65 max. Thing works perfectly

I appreciate the update, worked perfectly for me. I do have a question that I would love to hear your advice on. Would you say 8 ft height antenna connected to Ethernet in a house (or) on a patio, under a solid roof on wifi, but 14ft height. Which is going to be more profitable? Anyone can chime in

The Higher the better. That said, I am looking to wire mine up in the my attic. Having too many issues with instability over wireless. Even though all my other home devices work great.

Your miners height is set for 75 meters? Unless your miner is 250ft in the air, that setting will affect your mining negatively.

Finestra miner due to calchip option to get it early, breakeven in march. Syncrobit through SPNA distributer order April 9 2021 still no miner. Do not order from people who do not have it in stock and instant ship or don't be afraid to have the investment as a pure loss if you have to wait. Network is doing .12 HNT per day which is your target average. So to pay off the lost money, as I don't trust syncrobit to ship, is June. after that is ROI time.

Made $4.09 over week still says syncing a lot. first thing I did was port forward and upgrade SD card. Rak absolutely needs an app that you can use to constantly monitor.

Several MNTDs. The bloom is off the rose. Ravaged rewards, massive instability. It may be over. The last reduction in rewards was done by mandate, which just adds to the injury.
