I have HOCD. My heart goes out to people who are going through this torture but haven't realised that this is not their reality only because they are too ashamed to open up and are reassuring themselves every single second. I was in the same place. After 1.5 years of struggling with it, I came to know that is HOCD. I hope they find out soon. 😓

no person even in denial obsess over this 24/7 no matter how in denial he could be, its called ocd for a reason its an obsession over sexuality and just like any other theme, people with ocd analyze everybody on the streets, they compare them all, thats not what a person in denial does, those compulsions and ritual testing is not something a person in denial does, so thats how people know the difference between ocd and being in denial. Also I heard that groinal responses come with ocd and its true, some get tingle feeling they didn't even have before ocd hit, then they become super aware of them way above the awareness of a person in denial, its kinda like being hyper aware of your own health , blinking, your own saliva swallowing, i had this all, or any other obsession's. Simply put a person with OCD only thinks of this doubt all over his day and its destroying quality of his life, while a depressed person in denial only thinks of how to come out to people, but even he doesn't obsess over this all day like an OCD person does. OCD person can also doubt of having ocd or accept them and then doubting even more when backdoor spike hits. Pure-O people obsess menially and trying to reassure themselves in their head all the time. Denial should not be a continues battle with ones brain because it gets pleasure no matter if they accept it or not, while an OCD person is starting to feel like all is falling apart because he feels like everything is being taken away from him and he/she can't accept that, thats why people with OCD are suffering so much and its not denial, you can't call somebody in denial of being gay if he wants a wife and kids, thats like stripping him away from his own values and inner-believes he has and were not society influenced expecting him to be happy with that. OCD is HELL and people that deny it deny it because they simply never experience it. Also WHO used to say transexual is a disorder, not anymore, because lets face facts, world doesn't wanna help people, they wanna sell you drugs. I myself have nothing against trans but they consider it a disorder and then not anymore, thats like saying depression was a mental illness but WHO decided to call it normal state of mind now needing of no treatment. The world doesn't even know what they are doing anymore if such things are being changed like weather.

the thing is, in denial, you dont see it as a problem. You dont realise something. In denial you ACTUALLY feel something for guys, you actually feel something for men, but you just dont want to accept it.

Idk man I felt like shit too after and I fucking hate it.

@@unknowngnome834 There was a study that transexual porn is watched by bisexual and straight men but not gay man, gay men were loving gay porn with a man having a vagina more than a woman. This study was collected on big sites like pornhub and it demonstrated that we males are very self-centered also, its the straights males that demanded big tools in straight porn, I would say stay away porn man, it can really effect you if you have OCD because you will start to obsess to anything you dedicate too much emotion over. Relax, give yourself 1 month of no adult content and I guarantee you, you will calm down. Its really porn that does this because ocd is connected to stress and anxiety and porn only boost your anxiety and stress further. My mother used to have this calendar of a masculine men in her room and when my ocd was worse looking at that picture made me felt my prostate stimulated, but it was all inside my head, being exposed to this picture made me immune, i don't even notice him anymore, and by staying away porn I started to get erection to females again. Also there is a connection between porn and gastro problems that may develop if you are too active to it, don't trust google on this when they say that porn is good for you, too many addict defend it with their life.

Again, I said it once, I’ll say it again. This man knows his things, knows the ocd type and the process. Only you know yourself, regardless of the thoughts. Remember back to when you didn’t have these thoughts… that’s who you are. It’s a cloud over your head and you have to recover cuz you can, even if your mind tells you you don’t want to recover, or don’t think you will. I had self harm ocd and HOCD, and many more intrusive thoughts I have till this day. You control your destiny not your thoughts. Good luck, live your life and yes….. your life not the life your thoughts just gave you after reading that line.

Hi everyone, so last February I was watching the Super Bowl and I suddenly had this thought about one of the players, what if I find him attractive ? Then from then on it all developed into many different questions and it got to the point where my mind couldn’t think about anything else. However over the past couple of months I’ve still had the thoughts but they haven’t been bothering me and almost acted as reassurance that I do have HOCD and therefore I’m not gay, anyone else got this ?

My story is very similar to that of Ozzy’s , I had it during the summer going into 7th grade and it was a terrible summer , it went away as I entered school and puberty hit me hard af . I knew I liked girls since I was young and this introduction to puberty really pointed me to the direction I wanted to go . For a handful of years I was nothing but confident with my sexuality, but that would soon come to end . When I tell you that this shit has felt extremely real , it has , especially when I did not know what the hell was going on . It’s reintroduction to my life has realistically made me go through a lot of hardship and it’s put me to question everything I’ve done since the moment I started thinking . Reassurance has delayed my progress by a good time frame , as there was days where all I did was reassure. All I can say is that sexuality and the things that bring us pleasure should be nothing but pleasant . It shouldn’t bring us fear , contemplation , or doubt .

@@mohammedsihab2358 I had severe HOCD. I suffered for the whole 2020. It was terrible. I didn't know I had HOCD because I was too ashamed to open up but I finally gathered the courage to open up to my boyfriend (whom I loved to death hocd at it's best lol). He asked me to simply ignore the thoughts and not to get indulged. I did the same and it worked. The worst you can do to yourself is fighting your thoughts. Let them be. They're gonna fade eventually or will have zero power on you. I was back being normal for 4 months until one day a video triggered it and I was back in this same place. I am dealing with it since one month now. After 1.5 years, I came across this term HOCD and there are so many like me (better late than never), I am not what my thoughts are forcing on me. Previously anything related to LGBTQ or even a rainbow would cause severe anxiety but it's fine now. I am only dealing with false attraction sometimes. I've lost confidence and the person I was but ik she's still alive and I am gonna rise from the ashes again. My thoughts don't cause anxiety but it's just frustrating now. Minutest progress is still a progress. Do ERP. Don't run away from anything that causes anxiety. Face your fears. Indulge yourself in activities. Spend time with God if you're a believer, if not that's okay too. Let your thoughts flow, don't force yourself at all. Listen to subliminals on OCD recovery. One thing I noticed was that I was living in the past, constantly reminding myself that I am straight and how I've fallen only for men all my life. Don't do this. Live in the present. Don't take anything as a sign. Your mind will trick you in every thing you see.(Sorry if it's too long)😅 And don't ever think you're mentally weak, WE ARE FUCKING SURVIVORS. We're stronger than this stupid HOCD. All the best ! 🖤

I started having OCD starting 3rd month of this pandemic. I smoked weed a handful of times( had massive anxiety attacks couldn't tell what is real and what isn't, was trying so hard to control my actions) weed was a terrible idea for me and i cant change my past from it, i think i became traumatized from it. I started worrying excessively like worried what if im a sociopath, psychopath, and what if im hiding something from my friend which i had a problem with and eventually i got high with my friend (already alert and anxious) he always says gay jokes and he said " you snitched on yourself" which i misinterpreted and caused me to think into HOCD. Right now im dealing with groinal responses and it starting to feel like an erection. I hate it i feek like dying and so desperately wanting to heal bally

I dont know what i am tbh, im 26 years old male and never had any issues with sexuality growing up but ive been battling with what i think is HOCD for a good 8 years, i used to constantly ask my parents for reassurance but then that died off because i realised nobody could ever tell me what i am, some days i think, nah im deffo not gay, i dont think i could imagine having sex with a man and the next day, i see a good looking man and im wondering if i fancy him, my attraction to woman has disappeared for such a long time, i get aroused by straight porn easily, watched gay porn and only get slightly aroused to it, on top of this, i look at videos of attractive men on youtube to analyse if i fancy them or not, im just hoping my attraction to women is gone because of my sheer focus on men all the time and maybe convinced myself im gay when im actually not, my mind just doesnt ever seem to get any peace, i dont get anxiety over my thoughts either now which makes it even worse although this video triggered my anxiety bad, i tend to overthink alot and stress easily so i might have an anxiety disorder but again, i dont know what to think anymore, i try to speak to girls but its like i subconsciously reject all of them, its like i get on with men better but maybe thats because im a guy and we have more in common, hopefully its just hocd creating another problem and this doesnt mean im gay, if anyone does end up replying to this, please share your genuine honest opinions, the last thing i would want is someone to tell me what i want to hear

Maybe science should look a bit deeper into the real problem, porn is not candy, it can confuses one brain just like drugs can and lets face it most can't go a whole week without viewing it so yeah its an addiction to many. @Shika Hii and from hearing what you explained i don’t think you are. Just want to put out there to anyone else who may be reading, it’s nothing wrong with being bi, gay, les, etc it’s completley fine! and don’t let anyone tell you different. Also to answer your question It’s ok to be curious, it’s a normal part of human nature, especially when you were younger(i feel like that’s the peak of being curious about stuff and life) I know it might sound cliche but only you know, deep down you know the answer. No matter how many times you second guess yourself, getting stuck in those questioning your sexual orientation loops, overthinking loops you know. If you can manage to look past the anxiety, panic, overthinking you’ll see your answer. Also to whoever this resonates to, ik this is ironic because of the topic but you aren’t homophobic because you are going through this either💀 Since typing that comment things have been getting a lot better. I try to face what makes me question my sexual orientation or what i would run from in the past. So certain celebrities or shows/movies would trigger me into overthinking my S/O so i would actually watch the shows/movies or follow the celebs on social media until the overthinking kind of subsided/calmed down in a way over time if that makes sense. Lastly it doesn’t make you bi, gay, les, etc, if you find someone attractive, not just “ohh she’s pretty!”attractive but an attractive that stops you in your tracks like “wow they are actually hot”💀but best of luck and love and hope that helps or at least something from that!!🥺❤️

To your DSM point, HOCD itself is not on the DSM, but I do believe OCD is on there. HOCD is a subset, so it would fall into that OCD category. Either way, the only way to find out if HOCD is denial is to go through the recovery process first, can't figure out if its denial while you're still suffering. Cheers.

@@lister11811 I'm not saying whether it is denial or not. I'm saying the only way to recover from HOCD is to stop answering the denial or not question while you're suffering. Because continuously telling yourself it isn't denial is reassurance - and that gets you nowhere. I used to suffer from HOCD myself and have recovered.

If lead me confused and I have gay experience but I didn’t really enjoy it. Then a dated a girl and it felt good. But I find my self still turned on by good looking muscly guys on instagram and such. When I see a good looking guy in person, I can’t imagine my self in a relationship, holding hands cuddling. But there is a bit of attraction for they look perfect like the guys on insta or In porn. 🤷🏽‍♂️ help please ??

It’s okay to recognize someone of the same sex’s beauty. It’s ok to think they are an attractive person. It does not mean you are sexually attracted or want to engage in an intimate thing with them. I am a female with HOCD. I’ve been suffering for almost 10 years and just 11 months ago I started to work through my journey rather than running from it. I’ve learned that yeah, women are beautiful creatures.. it doesn’t mean I want to have sex with one. I’m married with 2 kids. This is a very hard thing.. but I believe all of us sufferers will learn the proper tools to make it out on the other side.

It is worth asking yourself, does 'HOCD' exist because there is a social or familial or religious taboo condemning homosexuality." Additionally, you should ask yourself, does the 'HOCD' arise from the frequently targeted "gay sin" by religious groups, causing it to become a fear instead of merely "other."

Can it just be that you are Bisexual? Did you think about that? I dont want to be rude, I am just wondering, becouse I never heard about that that you can be Straight and think about the Same Sex, or that you can be Gay and think about the Opposite Sex. That what can be is that you are Bisexual, and that you like both Men and Women.

Someone who's bisexual has a genuine attraction to men in addition to women while someone with hocd are just victims of their intrusive thoughts and tricked by their minds to believe that's real, and as someone who suffers from hocd I can assure you that people like me aren't LGBT since they have no arousal towards the same sex and the main feeling resulting out of these thoughts are fear and disgust while a real gay or bi person will find these thoughts arousing

True: the anxiety seems to stem from the fear that if he's attracted to men, he won't be able to have a "normal" life with women and it will destroy his whole identity and place in the world when it's perfectly healthy to like both and there's nothing to be anxious about. If he ever is able to overcome this "taboo" (as he calls it) of same sex attraction, he'll be rid of the core anxiety. The best treatment for irrational phobias is exposure therapy.

@@badisariche3422 I have never heard that something like this could be. Also, if you are gay or bi, it is not just about Sex. It is about Romance, being with someone in an Relationship and being a Family. You can be gay or bi and asexual. That is, you may not want to have Sex, but you would want to have a Relationship, Romance and Family.

@@amb4367 plus just to return to the point of attraction, yes attraction isn't only about sex but also romance, but how come for ex that someone who always crushed on women and fantasized about them for over 30 years of his life for ex turns out to be gay while he Always felt emotional connection with women but never with men. I can't tell you precisely how gay men feel exactly but according to what I've read, gay people report feeling different in terms of sexual and emotional preferences at an early age Here's an interview for you to read, it may help you jackieleasommers.com/tag/homosexual-vs-hocd/

I think the first question you should address is, why do you fear being gay? Is it because of religious beliefs, fear of rejection by family or friends or because if you are gay, you think you will have to change how you act or do something in bed you find unappealing. Gay men and women can be masculine of feminine, just like heterosexuals and has little bearing in sexual orientation. In Ancient Rome people didn't't think of gay or straight, but dominant or passive. Grandma said, "Taste it and try it before you buy it." Maybe it's because I'm a product of the 70s, but in college a lot of people tried both sides of the fence and were better for it and that was when same sex was a lot more taboo. Now it is just the fear mongering MAGAs who are stirring up groundless fears. It is common to experiment when you are young and to have crushes on either gender. I think experimentation helps define your sexuality. You compare having same sex thoughts with thoughts of jumping out of a moving car. Wrong! It is more like trying Thai food and finding you like it or don't. Also wondering about having sex, gay or straight with a relative is a bad idea. Is HOCD just an excuse to support your homophobia because you were taught it was wrong? Many people come out late in life because they tried to believe they were straight and ended up cheating on their spouse and getting divorced.
