Did you know that it could be dangerous to take supplements with Tamoxifen?
When you swallow Tamoxifen it is converted into a much more active form by a group of enzymes called the CYP3 system.
Many supplements are also broken down by this enzyme - and that means that there might not be enough enzyme left to work on Tamoxifen - meaning that Tamoxifen is much less effective at stopping your cancer coming back
Most doctors won't have heard of all the supplements out there - and for good reason. If you eat a healthy, well-balanced diet, you don't need them. That's why we don't prescribe them
Supplements are also dangerous because they're not regulated. If you buy aspirin it will contain exactly what is says on the tin. But supplements don't need to - in fact over 1/3 of supplements sold on Amazon don't contain the ingredients they are meant to

Recently got diagnosed with BC at 28. ER/PR- Her2+ with clear lymph nodes and no metastasis. It has been a terrifyng ride. The hardest battle i could ever imagine. Right now I’m having a really hard time dealing with chemo side efects. Yesterday recieved my second infussion and the very next days are just terrible. It would be awesome if you could recommend, if they existe, ways to make this easier. I really enjoy your content. Your approach to this matter and all your background have been really helpful to me: somehow, It brings me some serenity and mental clarity to get trough this. So if you could give any advise or even tell your own experience with chemo would be great. Sorry for my english❤ Greets and love from Colombia❤🇨🇴

Liz the oncologist I see has been great at talking with the oncology pharmacist. They are well versed in this. I just wanted to add having turmeric as a normal part of the diet is generally still acceptable but the high dose supplements naturally are not. Besides the fact that a certain group of people will get shocking acidity from them. Hope this helps.

Thanks for this video. I am always confused about what I can and can’t take on the side while on Tamoxifen. I have a very good diet and I exercise a lot, but can’t help thinking that there might be a few things I could take to improve my skin, hair, energy levels (all of which have been affected by Tamoxifen). I will check the website you recommend. I want to do as much as I can to keep myself healthy.

Further clinical studies research on drug interaction /less efficacy of Tamoxifen with SOYA soy tofu food milk form on daily diet (not supplement) ? Hope you could discuss this too. Thanks always Dr. Liz and be well healing to us all. 🌎💖🙏🌹 I think same thing with Turmeric powder when used in cooking Indian Thai food recipes or ginger turmeric tea 🤗

Just to add here, I was recently prescribed verzenio and tamoxifen here in the states (de novo oligometastatic ++- with 1 lung met), and the oncology pharmacist went through each medication and supplement I was taking. Out of all of them (diagnosis definitely added a bunch), the only countraindication was psyllium husk, go figure!

Hi Liz, blood tests have shown my B12 levels are low, so my doctor advised I take a multivitamin daily (I use the brand Centrum), so should I be concerned as to whether taking these multivitamins may make the Tamoxifen less effective? Do you think I should seek advise from my Oncologist?

Hi Dr Liz , I'm having anxiety on February 7 th i had surgery for Ductal Carcinoma in Situ plus a mass. So negative in lymph node's had 3 taken out. My Oncology called me today and said she would like to do a second surgery or i can get high dosages of radiation that during surgery not good enough margins. I don't understand why they couldn't figure this out from first surgery. Can you give me some kind of comfort and I'm high nuclear grade. And no estrogen receptors negative on that. What would you do ? Second surgery or high radiation? Thank you for all you professional advice i love watching you.

We can’t feel cells but they can be seen under a microscope. That’s why some people need to have a second but it tissue taken awaub

Dr Liz, my mom just started a tamoxifen but she is saying she is feeling hard to breathe. Little bit of cough and she felt like something is stuck in her chest. Would it be a side effect and something serious?? Please advise

I have read about cold like symptoms like swollen lymph nodes in neck, etc. while body adjusts.
