A fairly rare beast on the bench today, a radio that's both a CB radio and a marine radio, we set it up, align it and test it.

I remember being a young kid when Jaws came out and feeling mightily peeved when the guy in the boat photo smashed up the radio with the baseball bat!!!

I wonder if the marine channels could be modified to receive 3 2m frequencies? That would be pretty neat.

We have had a few CB radios that also included reception of the NOAA Weather Radio channels here in the U.S. but I can't recall a combo CB and marine receive.

Interestingly there is an odd-ball 27MHz Marine band in Australia which I believe wasn't used in any other countries. 10 channels 27.680-27.980 MHz AM and SSB. SSB Marine 27MHz radios never really took off.

It's a nice radio to have in your collection. A bit of a shame though that it's gone so yellow as they look awesome when they're white.

Yes it's bromine, it's put in the plastic as a fire retardant, the radio belongs to a friend, you can make it whiter again using peroxide but it can make the plastic brittle and eventually it goes yellow again anyway.

Strange audio amp with the holes / slots through the package itself. I don't think that I've seen one of these before. Probably prone to cracking the package by over tightening.....

I had 3 of these one was nos in box.there meant to be white but sold them years ago. I did try and convert so it would transmit on the marine band but never could

At 5:25. Got all the Marine channels in the amatuer radio, Though good for holiday. Listen to. Got 16, that frequency what I got. Then upto 28 then jumps to 60. A - S or C after some numbers, Was a long list. No 37 or M1 for me. Not on the thing I copy, program from. Now to carry on watching. Very yellow. Our fridge/ freezer handles, Only 12 years old, done the same.
