War is Ukraine is a mayor military conflict unseen in the world since the World War 2. However it can also be seen as the extension of the Great Game considering how actively the UK is involved. So let's try to figure this out.

A really insightful and thought provoking video Orest & Jonatan. Much appreciated. As someone born in the UK, whilst my city was being bombed by the Germany in the first world war, it resonated with me. I pretty much think that Jonathan was spot on in the view that he set out. The free world must help Ukraine to be free to determine their future. Slava Ukrani!

I didn’t know anything at all about the Crimean War until very recently and I still don’t understand what it was about. The only thing I remember is Florence Nightingale because I am an RN.

As the child of a British 🇬🇧 father, I do see echos of British chauvinism in Russian chauvinism. What I also feel is the deep echos with the Blitz on England by the Germans, which killed my gran gran, and the bombing of Ukraine 🇺🇦. That has s strong emotional pull.

Hii, I'm from India🇮🇳 , it was worth every second watching it. Would recommend to people who didn't have much idea about Europe geopolitical situation to watch it. These guys have put things in a very simple and with different perspectives.

I keep forgetting Johny has a name, I keep calling him ATP. Afghanistan has been a thorn in the paw of the bear and the lion for almost 200 years.. The European powers and the US owe Ukrainians for following through on Operation Keelhaul when people were repatriated to the USSR even if they had never been part of it. Unfortunately, politicians are always going to politick. I think BJ genuinely cares about Ukraine. He developed connections when he was foreign minister. He may not have been the best PM for us but was the right person in post for Ukraine. It's harder to make an instant connection with a very different culture. There was already an Eastern European connection with workers from Poland Czechia, etc. There are difficulties in housing, social, and health, but that applies to everyone. Most people only vaguely know about Florence Nightingale in terms of Crimea. Maybe know a bit about Mary Seacole, but are not really interested in history. I think it's more a game of empires. Not in the traditional sense but spheres of influence. Beau of the Fifth Column describes international politics is a poker game where everyone cheats. Slides a card to help some, but others they want to hinder. I really like the two of you together. It would be good to maybe get a monthly discussion.

Great content and discussion. Britain's positions in the world community has greatly diminished in today's world compared to its position over the last 500 years. Their current foot print is much smaller. Their day to day influence isn't felt or overtly seen. Their legacy is still felt. The average person world-wide has a feeling about the UK which is economically positive. America and China are the actual players in the proxy war which Russia (Putin and his cronies) has caused. Russia wouldn't have invaded if China had sided with the West in their abhorrence of Russia's actions. This war is complex with a century of action (s) on all sides ... from the West to the East. This is a scary and yet exciting time to be alive with Ukraine being the chess board in Geo Politics. Ukraine must succeed or these actions might encourage China to invade Taiwan. This would directly bring China and the US into conflict. America would survive relatively intact but China and the World as a whole would experience economic hardships the likes of which haven't been seen since WWII. Slava Ukraini!

Thanks for the interview. It's an interesting historical approach. The interview was too short though. You guys need to get back together again soon and keep talking.

It hurts my 🇺🇸 ears to hear the words Ukraine 🇺🇦 and game in the same sentence. I just can’t stand to see the torture, rape, castration, bombing of civilians on a population who were just minding their own business, living normal lives, aspiring to improve their lives.

For pootin everything has been a game. West didn't realize the game was on. All the time west tried to get out of the game. But now we all know the game is on.

do you think that war is going to move closer to West Ukraine to cities like Lviv??

No, unless Belarus decides to start invasion. Ukraine is waiting on the borders and russians wouldn't have a chance.

I think the biggest danger is Americans and Europeans siding with Russia for financial reasons, both resources and blood money for political campaigns.
