If it is legal in your state, it isn't cheating. Is it unethical? I would say yes. Leaving out the subject of these fish having lost so much natural habitat due to dams and their populations continuing to decline, snagging is, imo, a gross representation of being a fisherman or sportsman. It looks like you've done it enough to know that snagging doesn't always stick, sometimes it does, but they break off. You hook them who-knows-where. It's a shitty thing to do. I like to treat things I catch or kill with respect. Snagging isn't that. Or were you asking if your cool new gadgets were cheating?
