Prot pally here. Yes, solo tanking bosses in the end or clutch healing before something can turn into a wipe is our new job. No, we can't keep the enemy from hitting you very well. But we can heal you until we take it back so no big deal.

Avengers Shield only interrupts the main target. Divine toll shoots at 5 targets and interrupts them all, so its literally one of the best group tanking abilities around.

wait bulwark of righteous fury isnt worth mentioning as a legendary? I feel like thats a huge omission. Thats how prot paladins are doing insane AOE damage currently and it is used among many top mythic+ players.

I've played a paly since vanilla. Started off playing as almost strictly holy, but have really enjoyed ret the last 3 or 4 expansions. I started playing Shadowlands about a week after it came out and only have an ilvl of like 190 atm and I still am almost always top 3 in dps in my dungeon/raid groups. And having mained holy for the longest time, I'm sure any healers I've had in my grp def appreciated the off heals/blessings I can throw out when someone gets low on health or cc'd. I really enjoy being a "melee" healer, and standing in there with the melee dps getting my holy power stacks up in betweem throwing out heals. Dps wise, I think they're 1 of, if not the best burst dps class in the game. Great video. Ty

I went from Hunter to Paladin for this exp. loving it.

I'm a paladin who prefers Revendreth, I love Ashen Hollow, helps with healing all party members while also helping to DPS down adds and bosses, I love using it in raid groups and dungeons to help the healers. The Revendreth teleport, I've found, feels the best on Nadia, particularly with her stunning effect. It can help disrupt groups of mobs while also providing the paladin much needed mobility between charges of radiant charger, the light horsey, whatever it's called. Might not be the absolute best, but it rocks! *Nadia I also favor over Theotar, because she gives a 20% haste buff after a while of combat, which seriously helps speed up Paladin to a favorable position.

My Righteous Bulwark would like to have a word with you.

I have a Holy Pala with "Avenging Crusader", "Beacon of Faith" and "Divine Purpose" and it is for me a very good skill. I just raid HC, but there I'm always 1. or 2. in Heal. But the Numbers are not everythink what makes a good healer.

Mained Ret for many years and still my fav but never felt so squishy as I do in SL, I take so much damage from normal attacks it sometimes feels like I have res sickness and have to heal way more than I ever did before. I've kinda gotten used to it now and changed my playstyle to adapt, its improved with better gear but I miss the feel of playing a plate wearer I've enjoyed up to now.

Prot and ret feel really nice for me. Holy on the other hand feels very clunky for me and my healing is very far behind for same gear level. It just feels off especially from raiding as holy all thru last two expansions. Feels like I just can't get the heals off fast enough. Flash of light doesn't feel like it heals the same and you don't always have 3 holy power to send a big word of glory heal, which I feel they really made the big new thing for holy power. Epically since it shares power need of world of glory and shield bash.

There is a variation within the Holy Paladin Glimmer of Light build. The talents Avenging Crusader and Sanctified Wrath can be alternated depending on the fight. There is a major reason as to why this is important to mention: If you pick Avenging Crusader, Mastery loses a lot of value, as your Crusader Strike and Judgement won't be affected by it, making it your worst stat possible, instead of the second best. Because of this, I'm building critical strike rating as the secondary stat, instead. I also suspect that if they buffed the duration of Glimmer of Light, or if it could be applied by other skills (and not just a single target one with 8 seconds of cooldown), our HPS would improve a lot, making us more competitive healers, and potentially saving us from the struggle that is mythic+ AoE healing. That said, I understand that we're almost there (balance-wise) and there are other classes/specs that are in a more urgent need of some love. Like Priests in general.

Protection Paladin is fun in pvp as well. Still a little new to Ret but I am enjoying it. I have not yet tried Holy out yet, though I have run into a few and they are tough to kill!!

I've been ROCKIN it with paladin in shadowlands. It is THE reliable class in my opinion. It represents a lot, and all of the abilities and results are so satisfying. I love other classes, but I think SL paladin is one of my top 3 favorite expansion-classes.

I think the Bulwark of Righteous Fury leggo is worth a mention for Prot. As not as "cool or fun" looking as Avenger Shield reset. Its still MASSIVE damage. Every target hit by Avengers shield increases Shield of the Righteous (resource spender for Prot) by 30%. This stacks up to 5 times. The damage burst is INSANE in AoE situations and if you get lucky resets on shield just from your base kit its even better.

I play holy and I love it. Even the new holy power feels good

I’ve been having fun on my Rey pally. I feel powerful but not too op in PVE. I haven’t really tried PVP on my pally but I hear it’s pretty good if you know how to play them.

Ran a +6 Sanguine depths with 4 dps and me as prot pally. Less than, 20m and only death was me falling off the map.

I think you missed one of the key aspects of holy that makes it so great and that's it's access to shield of the righteous. It enables the style in which every time you have 3 holy power you're thinking to yourself can I afford to pump out some damage or do I need to save it for a bit of healing similar to disc when pennance is up. Adds that little extra depth that makes it that much more fun

so here is a question. we've been doing a lot of chatter in this expansion so far on Mourneblades, but im curious about how Shadowmourne fits into this, as it is a mournblade as well, and it was made by the players and Highlord Mograine (its also been called the sister blade to Frostmourne multiple times)

Great vid, but you should have also mentioned the benefit Paladins get from the 2nd Venthyr ability "Door of Shadows". It’s a nice and useful mobility tool for a class that suffers a lot from mobility issues.

Cavalier is a must for ANY Pally spec, that extra 3s burst of speed is downright handy, whether you're chasing down any enemy player in BGs, covering ground in PvE, or if you're just getting the hell out of dodge.

u forgot to mention the interrupts you get with Avenger Shield. From xp its basically interrupt everything around you. Got 8 in row with the lego. + u have the normal interrupt too and hammer.

Prot paladins have a talent choice to make consecrate to slow enemies by 50% and should be used

So. Avenger's Shield doesn't aoe interrupt unless you use Divine Toll. Only the primary target. Also the avenger's shield reset leggo is kind of a trap. You're better off with the haste one for defense, or the sotr/hammer of wrath ones for damage.

I'd argue my Enhancement Shaman also fills that battle mage feeling quite nicely.

I play a tank Pali as I’m and off Main And I use the ashen hollow what I’ll do is I’ll run and I’ll pick up everything I possibly can drop it down for the extra damage and healing and just absolutely go nuts with a Aoe end it does work very well the four minute cooldown can be mitigated by the fact that if you Paul just these really big and juicy mobs you’re basically spend most of it’s cool down just running to the next one

I main a Venthyr Retribution Paladin. With the Ashen Hallow, wing, my dps in 30 seconds is pretty good.

Holy would be nice if Crusader Strike just had a little bit more range instead of being melee. Just makes it feel a bit clunky.

Enha Shaman is closest to being a battle mage. Both in look and gameplay. It was even more so in BFA since Rockbitter, Flametongue and Frostbrand Weapon all had 20 yard range and the only melee ability was Stormstrike and Lava Lash. And Ascendence made Stormstrike ranged. They still feel ranged, but now they rely on autoattacks building up Maelstrom Weapon. So yeah, much less so.

Paladin is my fav class, even if not the most powerful, I mean come on you get to basically be a holy knight with the best-looking armor in the game. Plus it's a hybrid class so you can always re-spec if absolutely needed for some groups.

I love playing my pally but I'm finding my self burt out already I guess I should not have pushed 6 toons to max lvl and gear going to take a brake for a few weeks see what happens.

few builds for Holy Paladin Builds, Glimmer is one of them. But Shockbubble , Virtue (nice aoe healer, great for five mans) , Martyr Build. Shockbubble and Virtue, Necro convent best for that as give you more free play. Glimmer is Blue smurf people. Seen more Shockbubble and Virtue builds then glimmer recently.

All I know is paladin was my mid range geared character in BFA, and level 51-60 she did more damage as ret than my hunter, DH, rogue or mage. And at 60 she is about 2-3 under my hunter main for dps, which was more than she was in BFA.

I was running a mythic 0 with a couple of guild members and as a prot pally and ended up having to solo the last 3 bosses in sanguine depths cause my buddies died

All i'm wondering is, where is Light of the Martyr in all Hpal guides? Isn't that part of the healing too since it's low mana?

Prots are essentially not killable, at the beginning of the expansion I soloed essentially every 5 man boss at one time or another in normal and heroics when my group would wipe while we were learning the mechanics, and our gear wasn't good enough to ignore them. Then when you get the legendary that causes a 33% chance for a free Avengers Shield, you can cap Holy Power easily enough (with two judgement charges) you can self heal through nearly anything for a substantial amount of time.

i'd go double charger just for speed as well as eng. i have a worgen dk with wraithwalk. and an undead dk with wraith and eng. if my worgen had eng sprint i'd feel like a rogue

They are just OP. They aren't the flavour of the month they are just the flavour of wow, never getting nerfed so it is the best thing you can play if you actually wanna be successful.

Today the glass has shatter for me with Shadowlands. I liked playing WoW to run dungeons and occasionally raid, but I realized I only spend a tiny fraction of my time doing that in SL. Instead I am required to go deal with a bunch of weirdly forceful side systems to slowly get the things needed to push higher in M+. You want good conduits better do your covenant story(So don't care about the poorly written story), want to be allowed to make progress on the covenant story each week for the conduits? better go do the Maw (hate this place). Oh you want the Maw to be slightly less suck, better do tower of boring. Oh you want to do anything with your covenant's special upgrades, go gather 5000 anima, 35 at a time oh and the world quests are time gated so enjoy that, but you can make it better if you engage in PvP (hate this too). Oh you want that really good piece of legendary gear? Better go grind the tower of boring. (Still hate it) I just want to do dungeons with my friends, why do I have to do EVERY tiny piece of content in the whole damn expansion just to push M+, why is this such an interconnected web of BS. I'm going to go play FF14, Shadowlands has failed me.

Paladins have always been a great class to play. Tanking in classic might have been tough to MT but ret has always slapped its dick around

Crazy heals I rerolled from DK to Pala and even though im after everyone else content wise, its been 100% more fun than playing with unholy.

Michael, your review of prot showcases a major hole in your experience - M+. Prot paladin has one SIGNIFICANT strength that was totally overlooked - we're the interrupt GODS.

Paladins are in a good spot idd. Holy is the best healer, Prot actually heals more than healers, and Ret has the best one shot burst potential of all melee and top 3 overall.

Actually... the shield of the righteous legendary for prot is very much worth mentioning......

My guy you did prot paladins dirty by not mentioning their legendary that does all avenger shield damage in shield of the righteous. That is literally the best one for mythic and is engaging to use. Also if you chose Kyrian like any tank should this expansion, their ability and the consecration talent more than makes up for the lack of control as it is basically a big aoetaunt button unless some is blatantly more geared in your group.
