Questioner: Assalamu Alaikum! Dr.! My name is Hisham Jaffar Ali, I wanted to ask you if we are allowed to watch cartoons?
Someone from the Audience: Excellent question!
Dr. Zakir: The brother’s asked a very good question on the topic that are we allowed to watch cartoons today the international survey they say the maximum damage that is done to any child is the satellite media on an average an American child sits 7 hours in front of the television more time than he goes to school. Most of the channels take him away from Islam including the cartoon channels, most of them. What you see there is so much of violence etc. so a person sees a violent movie regularly whether with it be a cartoon or other movies and he has a fight with his friend and he takes out the gun of his father & he kills his friend.
In Bombay there was a serial for the children somewhat similar to cartoon, called as ShaktiMaan, somewhat similar to superman, so one young child he jumped from his house, in a tall building, thinking ShaktiMaan, superman will come & save him. No one comes & saves him & he dies. And when an interview was taken of that father he said I could not imagine my son would jump. May be tomorrow your son or my son will jump. Therefore the impact of the media is so great that it blinds the person & it causes maximum damage to the children that’s why we have started a school in Bombay by the name of Islamic International School one of the criteria to get admission is that you should not have a cable TV in your house. No satellite TV, it’s a shaitaan. It’s a shaitaan. So people ask me then how will we watch Peace TV?
Point no. 1 by watching Peace TV if you’re allowing hundreds of Shaitaan channels to come in your house; don’t watch any that is better. Let a small loss take place to prevent a big loss but we have made provision that if we have a special dish and a decoder you can only watch Peace TV & no other channel. So we’ll see to it that’s available even in the Middle East by a dish, investment of few thousand rupees or a few hundred dirhams, you don’t have to pay monthly whatever fees that you are paying out here or 200, 250 rupees monthly. Invest few thousand and all the people in the building can watch. Have one decoder and it will only catch Peace TV & no other channel. What we have we can’t create a vacuum, this is Haraam, this is Haraam, there should be a substitute. So we tell the parents of our school don’t watch cable TV but we’ve got 5000 tapes on Islam & comparative religion everyday if you watch 1 for 3 hours it will take you more than 13 years to complete the library. So by the time your son passes the school, or your daughter passes the school, everyday if you watch 1 yet you cannot complete the library and the next 13 years we may have 1 more 5000 InshaAllah...

Tbh anything can “take you away from the remberance of Allah” its so unrealistic to say that TV, watching sports, playing sports, hanging out with friends is haram because “it takes you away from the remembrance of Allah” those are things that every child should be able to do. Yes learning Islam and practicing it is very essential and needs to be done but life isn’t about locking yourself at home and just pray and read Quran all day. There’s a balance of everything. Just be smart about what you watch.

@@LeZaynn the prophet SAW said "an hour for your Lord and an hour for yourself". We don't need to ready Quran all day and pray all day. Children should be praying 5 times a day and reading Quran still, but they need to relax without compromising the deen .

But most of the cartoons have music backround behinde it . Or have music , song moment , which its haram . So I will definitely not let my children see these cartoon . It's better to see islamic Cartoons . There are really beneficial . ❤️

Is it a waste of time? Yes. Can it affect a child in a bad way? Yes. Is it haram? No. Just because something doesn't follow Islam dosen't mean it automatically contradicts it. Surely you must realize that we humans - and ESPECIALLY children - need some time to chill out. I would very much prefer my kid to watch Spongebob together at a couch rather than give him a phone for him to waste time on social media (I myslef am 16 and following Muslim).

And you still believe that watching cartoons is Haram? He sometimes speak like he is a fake doctor. He should know that cartoons give enjoyment to children by letting them explore different things and it expands their creativity. This is totally normal for a child. These cartoons cannot be substituted by some of his video lectures which let alone a child even an adult cannot find them spectacular but most likely boring even though educative. This is clearly the advertisement of his channel and hatred towards other channel, as we all know there are other Islamic channels apart from peace tv so why would he forbid anyone to remove all other channels apart from his channel? At the end he mentions how the animations muslim scout and fatih sultan are okay to watch even though they contain music but there are other programs which contain music as well and they also take a person towards his creator and does not contain harmful content. I believe the whole answer was given while being neglectful.

Very good advice alhumdulilah. But theres one thing islamic scholars are leaving out which is the harmful effects of screen time on the brains of babies, children etc. Evidence is overwhelming in that aspect. More awareness is needed inshallah

It's actually help me I used to watch doremon and by which I'm not from India but i learned Hindi I used to watch English anime but my mother tongue is not English but i learned English on the age of 12 Alhamdulillah. that doesn't matter, angel of death would come to get your soul from your body, not the body. So it doesn't matter in which condition your body parts are now. Similarly you will get the same punishment after death in every form of your body parts, cause you will not see any body parts in grave after some years of course.

I don't think cartoons are bad, it's only for just entertainment, nothing more, it will not spoil ur imaan, whatever the the entertainments we used to watch today is not good, so my perspective is if song, movie, cartoons etc whatever don't cross the limits, that's what allah says, if it effect ur imaan, then it's not good, but if you are maintaining your imaan and not wasting to much time spending to these stuffs then it's fine, it's only my opinion.

According to dr zakir naik HARAM HARAM HARAM CARTOONS ARE HARAM AND PLAYING GAMES LIKE CALL OF DUTY OR PUBG IS HARAM EVEN MOVIES ARE HARAM. Which I don’t agree with. In my opinion I believe it is ok as long as you pray on time and there is no nudity or at least you avoid it.

Question was can watch or not ,not the moral science lecture as someone can control which cartoon to let his/her child watch . Earlier we used to say , photography and videography is not allowed .now doing it in the name of allah is permissible . Not to watch cartoon ,not to play with toys , stuffed character ,. It's very good to follow the real path ,but not to streamline everything in one way only.

I think you don't want me to answer but I will answer anyways because it is an easy question. Quran states women must only wear a headcovering and throw it over their bossoms. The term for it is khimar and in fact hijab is not mentioned in this context. Hijab is the term for khimar nowadays, but it was used differently a long time ago. But to answer your question a muslim women is allowed to show her face to anyone as it is not obligatory to cover the face.

What exactly do you critisize about the American and Japanese animated shows and movies, if they literally have licensed Arabic and Indonesian dubbing? Arabs and Indonesians probably translate them with some censorship to make the content less risky or dangerous.
