Yes I tried to beat MHGU with a Rusted Sword & Shield. Rusted weapons in Monster Hunter are some of the worst in the franchise and are only meant to be upgraded to better tiers to signify weapon restoration.
The Only rule I have for the challenge is No SnS Oils until High rank

For those wondering how I got the Rusted Weapon "Early," I didn't. What I actually did was just play through all the key quests on an already completed save file. This was to make the process a bit faster and a little less painful. That and I used the weapon at level 3 instead of level 1 since I didn't have another rusted SnS prior to completing low rank.

@@monsterblooper3818 There's generally a list online for key quests, in game you sometimes get hints for what are key quests from npc's but I'm unsure if that's in any other game than mhgu

Maybe in the future you could try a regular SnS only run for generations ultimate at some point. It would be interesting to see with all the different types of SnS in the game.

Love the challenge runs also I dare ask will there ever be a frontier challenger run (obviously not all of it )but it’s quest lines or ranks individually?

Had once one in 4u that lasted 35+mins. That Was hell plus i had like -7 or -10 thunder defens.

He's not really a threat if you use a Bow and know how to dodge his ranged electric sparks. You can actually dodge between them even if there doesn't seem to be a space between them. I was *shocked* (not the status change) when I dodged them that way many times.

Bitter Affinity is a good skill to go with Rusted weapons IMO Since all of them has natural -70 affinity which mean the skill could easily procs to offset the negative crit damage penalty

I remember seeing a rusted bow mixed set using that skill, so many arrows are fired with spread that it's extremely likely to activate rueful crit

The problem is Bitter Affinity is only accessible when you reach G-Rank and the earliest armor set with that skill being the Gammoth X set the other being the dreaded Bloodbath set thats has to be upgraded to reach its real potential

this seems like the difficulty level was comparable to the no whetstones/sharpening challenge, and it was just as entertaining to watch! another great video! i also love the editing done in this video, i think it's a great way to compress such long challenges down into a short, fun video. i think it'd also be cool if you had another channel where you uploaded full hunts from these challenges, as the full hunts would be fun to watch too

Honestly, I’d love to see you do a ranking of your hardest challenges. The No sharpen challenge in g rank still puts me on the edge of my seat, but this… this looks like a lesson in madness.

funny thing is i was sort of indirectly doing this challenge when i first got GU, i used SnS because the other weapons seemed like too big a change from rise, except i was stuck using the baby low sharpness weapons and had no idea upgrading them increased it. being used to a visible weapon tree in world and rise really had me

You should try and get the negative crit/bitter affinity skill because it sometimes makes you do a strong crit instead of negative crit

Hey reaverjolt, i have a nice challenge idea for you to make Monster Hunter World/Iceborne Survival Challenge The main challenge is that you can only use your item pouch, and only items that you collect on the field *You can't use the item box to pick or store items, so you gotta manage your inventory *You can't buy items (the only items that you can buy are the power and armor charms) *You can't use mantles and boosters *You can't use the botanic center

I think most of us who watch this will probably give up half way or so 😂, I give you prompts for not giving up and keep pushing to beat the game. I couldn't even imagine doing this challenge and would a lot of my mental health 😂 to get through this.

defeating nibelsnarf with this weapon in under 18 minutes is the biggest accomplishment tbh. Dude is infamous for eating up all of your time, plus you'll bounce pretty frequently with yellow, let alone anything lower.

Just so you know, I think you'll enjoy sunbreak quite a bit. The new stuff look like it fixes a lot of issues I had with rise, and they're hinting at some old favorites returning Also the newest rise event quest adds the best looking layered armor in the game

As a Prowler main, these complaints about time are kinda funny. I timed out to high rank Valstrax. Also the negative crit and bludgeoner skills should help when you get access to them.

Making it to High Rank alone is impressive,but grinding out the Ceanataur set with a rusty butter knife and guild style? You sir,have nerves made out of titanium! I feel like popping a blood vessel just by fighting him normaly with all the advantages at my disposal,doing that would probably make me quit MH entirely. xD

rule 73 of being a sadist in mh carry components to make barrel bomb L's carry both traps carry mats for basic potions use power, health and sheild horns before loading into a monsters zone use power tallon and co. mix and match armor to get effects that make no sense on paper(for example in mh4u I have a free-element auto-gaurd and destroyer set) knifes flash and ting oh and palicos

Not gonna lie, this reminds me of almost my entire time playing Monster Hunter World/Iceborne for the first time. First off, I was only using a bow the entire time. Second off, I didn't really start being smart in the game till late game/Iceborne.. which also added more time. And finally, I often would go into half of my fights.... totally unprepared and not understanding I could change my equipment on the fly. I still look at half of my own videos that take an hour or so long to try and beat just one monster with my bow... say the least, this gives me PTSD flashbacks to my first time beating the final boss for MHW vanilla.. before Iceborne. So, long story short. PTSD from watching this. So i subscribed. Becuase I may as well be a masochist using bow only it feels like.

I kinda miss how ya use to do challenge videos by basically describing what you did and what your plan was. Like with the 4U sharpness challenge videos. Mostly cuz it works best for people that cant watch the videos and can only listen to them.

the worst part is that in older generations he didn't have the bleed ailment since it didn't exist back then, it was only until GU that some sadist at capcom went "you know what? this crab needs to cause more pain"
