Got mine when they first came out, I put a lot of miles on it since then, I almost bet I got more miles than anybody owns one. And I ain't broke nothing, still going strong, I'm running the hobby wing combo, 2300 kv. And I love it, mine ways with battery little over 10 pounds. I really enjoy putting it together , and love the new transmission. KLR/M's tires for the win. Love watching your videos, it's been a while since I've seen one . I'll be watching for more

I built one of these truck earlier this year. This truck was a joy to build. Everything just fits and the instructions are clear. My shocks do not leak. I do think the shocks are kind-of skinny for a truck. I did use 80 weight shock oil and maybe that is why mine do not leak. Also, very important this truck has a lot of metal parts. Thread lock is a must do on this build. My body does not have the yellow on the laser cuts? Not sure why yours does. I actually bought a second body it also does not have the yellow cuts. I have driven my truck. It drives great. However, I need some Proilne Hyrax tires for it. I just got some. Thoughts?

fwiw. I have a set of Vanquish Method Roost wheels, and another set of the same design from a Chinese Ebay seller... side by side the Vanquish wheels are noticeably better made - better machining (including an engraved Method logo) and better finished overall... but they did cost $120 for the wheels [4], and another $36 for their SLW hubs. In comparison I recently bought the Ebay version - a complete set of 4 including hubs (same SLW pattern, just uses 3mm hardware) for $37. That is a huge difference, and once you've scratched them on the rocks a few times, the original finish probably doesn't really matter that much anymore.

I say go with the wheels comparison especially as vp can be hard to get. Take a close look at the finish on them in comparison and the feel of the aluminum must be of a different grade too. Hey Rich Hoping you safe and well! Thanks again for an excellent review. I’m not a big scaler, but, $750 U.S = $1000 AUD plus electronics is a killer. When you need to swap out the shocks, add some wheels and tyres and for a newb shock oils. The driveline and articulation components seem to be the really attraction, but I’m guessing you wouldn’t want to be tackling that transmission as your first build. I’m not a fan of the body, I think you would have to tie a bone to it just so the dog would play with it, it’s very mmaaahhh! Obviously no licensing and it doesn’t really look like any model of pick up (ute) that I’ve ever seen. It’s odd looking (purely subjective). But fits nicely into the running boards etc. so 👍 I’m not sure what’s new and available as a crawler kit nowadays but I think it would want to be an awesome crawler that rubs your feet at the end of a day of hard crawling 🤣🤣🤣🤣 for that price point plus the hop ups. Looking forward to seeing how it performs. Big disappointment with the Hobbywing, I guess it happens but your channel is not the place for this to occur ! The market here is pretty much flooded with Hobbywing and whilst I don’t have any issues with their products, I do miss my Castle Creations gear 😢. Thanks again and catch “you” on the flip side 👍🤓🇦🇺

Hey Paul, I don't envy the pricing in Australia for US products....same goes for Canada (which is odd because it's right next to us!)
@paulgarwood192
@paulgarwood192 3 жыл бұрын
The RCNetwork Hi Rich The pricing is kind of relative to our average wage etc. it was better when the conversion rate was $1.10 US to $1.00 AUD (kicking myself I didn’t invest in US dollars) but now it’s back to $0.72 US~ for $1.00 AUD. Stock availability and price gouging by some online local hobby store fronts has been horrendous. This mainly applies to the Tamiya kits with prices being $300 + RRP on some kits. So most are buying in Asia and shipping for less. It’s really crazy. Our cost of living is very fluid at the moment with a strained relationship between us and China. In recent times, before COVID19 we had a lot of Chinese investors buying our goods and services, housing, baby milk formula, education etc. and paying way above RRP. This meant for the average Ozzie they have to pay more for everything if they wanted to compete. Housing went up a good 50%+ because of the foreign investors, they would buy 3+ houses without inspecting them and never bother to occupy them. This just destroyed the great Ozzie dream of owning your own home and getting a good education. But $1000 AUD is on the expensive side for a crawler plus the add ons. If it was inclusive of the upgrades, it would be around what we are used to paying minus electronics. Our ideal range of currency is about $0.80 AUD to $1.00 US as we are such a big exporter of raw materials. But again this has been influenced as China is refusing to trade with Australia over our stand with Human Rights issues, land sovereignty and the call for an independent investigation into the origin of the virus. So we are being punished by the sleeping dragon. I read recently that China is now trying to open better trade relations with the US, here is hoping that you guys don’t sell your soul as we did. There is an initiative that is used by the CCP that is called the “belt and road”. Basically China lends your States (Victoria, where I live signed on to this, but looks like it will be quashed by the federal government) huge amounts of money to improve infrastructure and the work is conducted by Chinese companies, then you repay the CCP back the money, which is astronomical. They then take ownership of said infrastructure and it becomes a lease style payment to use the facilities. Things like shipping ports, major highways, hospitals, etc.etc.etc. Many a third world country has fallen for this tactic and is basically being held to ransom. So in short imported goods from the US are a killer, mainly with the shipping. A kit can cost $150+ to ship, depending on the size, plus a very lengthy wait. I guess I’d be looking at $1500+ conservatively to finish a kit like that with some nice electronics painting, LED’s, wheels and tires. But bringing it back to a minimum wage or cost of living scenario I’d pay $900 for a 1/10 4wd racing buggy kit plus the obvious necessaries.

Nice video... I WILL have one of the Vanquish trucks eventually, and also am going to try a set of the knockoff wheels, I have no nice metal wheels yet, 5 crawlers and 10 sets of wheels into this segment of the RC hobby... Contemplating the Pro vs Ultra kits....and I will have another year or so to contemplate...lol. The Ultra has a few downgraded parts to offset the portals... I'm not sure about that one... sure there's a bit of gained clearance in the center, but I can't help thinking this also has SOME effect on the CoG, as well as the portals looking like there's more to hang up at the ends, where the steering knuckles are .... Kinda thinking I will choose the Pro version, in black anodizing... so scratches show ... I really wish there was more info or video content comparing these 2 VP truck kits... Any input would be most welcomed.... Looking into Motor and ESC options as well, but will likely be putting in a brushed 3s setup and an MKS HBL550 for the servo, a CC BEC, and likely a 5slot motor... Thanks for the content as usual...

Yes, I had to check the exact differences: The Pro uses the "VFD Transmission" and includes Machined Steel gears and Aluminum bearing plates. The Ultra uses the "VFD Spec Transmission" which differs by using Sintered metal gears (like Pot metal) and molded (or I'm assuming plastic) bearing plates. They had to cut costs somewhere as the portal axles alone are nearing $500 on the Ultra

@@TheRCNetwork sintered does not mean pot metal. pot metal would insinuate cast metal, where there is a mold and molten metal is poured in and then solidified. sintered parts use a fine steel power, and then are compressed and heated in a way that all the small powders are stuck together and harden. sintered gears are very strong and are actually quieter than machined steel gears. both have their benefits, but by no means are the sintered gears in the vs410 ultra weak. they wont fail.

I also think that once you approach this price point, people are going to want to choose their own design of wheel too - so perhaps a better option for future releases would be to offer the kit without the wheels & tyres, but include the aluminium shock towers and full machined gear transmission instead?

I bought my Pro the first week they came out. Haven't regretted it a second. I suspect the shocks were dry assembled at the factory and tore the o-rings. Because when Vanquish sent me free rebuild kits the shocks have been flawless for 15 months. The rod ends while Revo-like, still need replacing much more often. (my only complaint). You know, Vanquish vs. Injora thought- I had an Injora order that included an inner rim with bad machining. Just bad quality control, I think- I probably got the 1 out of 1000 that snuck through inspection! But it took a solid 5 weeks for a replacement part to be shipped from China. I'm confident Vanquish wouldn't have had the issue in the first place and it would have been quicker to get parts. The guy from Injora was great to deal with but keep it in mind. Also I hate Vanquish SAE hardware on the wheesets. Is it all imperial measurements throughout the truck? That's seriously a deal breaker for me. Give me metric any day!

Welp, not sure how to take your first comment....and how exactly do you want me to answer? if you want to know the real reason, I "sound" like a robot....it has to do with my editing style on the video. This particular video was scripted, meaning I wrote the script out over a month after I assembled the truck an shot the video. I edited the video and voiced over the audio. During that time editing, I have my viewers in mind, especially on KZfaq and edit down all voids in the audio to speed up the video delivery.....so, like for this video, it likely started off as a 25+ minute video and by chopping out all of the voids, it saves the viewer (you) usually 5-10 minutes per video. So, does that answer your question, or do you want to poke more fun?
