Im irish and supported the Soviet Union. Soviet Union was the only country to recognize us during the war. That being said, what russia is doing to ukraine is disgusting and ukraine deserves help!

And developers. Obviously that's part of what the "war" is about. Tribal competition over who gets to control and develop the real-estate and then heat all the wooden McSlave box-houses they'll build.. They will ruin Lviv's ecology just like they did in Colorado.

@peterberg4457... Lviv is not a Ukrainian city. This city was built by Poles. Its beauty and monuments that adorn the city were created by Poles. It is sad that Ukrainians boast about other people's achievements and culture. You should know that although Lviv was founded by Prince Galician, naming the city after his son Lev, the city belonged to Poland from 1346 until the attack of Germany and the USSR on Poland in 1939. The shape and architecture of the city is the work of Poles, not Ukrainians.

I think this is hard to answer, because what do you mean by "new"? Lviv was never (heavily) bombed during the wars of the 20th century, so you don't have the situation that you have in many German or Polish towns. So in that sense it is old and original. But, just as visitor between ~07 and 19 I can tell you that the quality of streets in Lviv has really improved just in that time. Even as recently as 07 (ish) there were many more potholes, the stones were much more uneven etc. To the degree that the scared tourist might even be afraid to drive some places fairly central... (this was of course partly due to all the road works going on.) Cobblestoned streets do require some upkeep :-). Not least because the cars of today are much heavier than anything 2-4 hundred years ago.

I've met no one who thinks people doing tourism even in these times is insensitive. It is the other way around - people see it as a good sign that the world isn't getting tired of us. We are always glad to welcome new friends :)

@@lymphocytetueur8189 I came back last week, all is safe. All is open, there is no more powersuplly in the street. There is a couvre-feu around 11pm. (I feel more safe in Lviv than France)

No planes but there should be trains. At least what I have seen in some videos. I recommend watching Johnny FD who just made a train trip to a small town south east of Kyiv. A trip to Lviv from Poland won't be as hard as he made it look :)

Bus or maybe train from Poland? Maybe train to Przemysl (which is a _lovely_ small town, very overlooked) and then bus? This video really makes me want to look this up... Before the war I visited by plane (easy transfer in Kiev Borispil) or by car. Maybe when we get into spring this channel could make a video on how easy/hard it is to drive to Lviv as just plain tourists?
